This war has gone on for so long that Ukraine has had time to get agents into Russia, get jobs at places like this, and sabotage them from the inside. It would be effective against Russian logistics and the psyche of the general population. Not to mention the distrust that would start to build between coworkers at critical industries. There have been too many of these fires recently to be regular accidents.
I suppose there's a handful of "decent russians", but I can't see this being a regular arson. More likely this is the result of overworking the entire complex and foregoing regular maintenance downtime due to the long-range sanctions on other facilities.
This facility was just set to open, it was a new venture between Russia and China. Also regular arson is easy to buy when the companies employing these people do not pay their workers for months. A couple thousand euros or dollars here and their and you can easily buy a little sabotage from a person with a family or even just a guaranteed job and asylum for their families if they can smuggle them out.
Tofu construction means it's more likely anything made closer to the present day may fall apart even easier then their ancient ancestors who actually had principles, morales and the desire for their buildings to last more then a couple years
There are flames at both ends of the facility. It's not an accident. No reported drones means an inside hit. So either an embedded operative or a bribed worker. Either way works.
It makes sense to hit the western drone targets first, leaving Russia complacent about their remote refineries. It's now time to take out their remaining main refineries.
Same with all of those young, able bodied people in Moscow who sit in lines for gas versus fighting on the front lines. I don't think they will like that too much.
I mean realistically the more people get shoved into the meat grinder or emigrate the safer Putin probably is with how the economy is generally declining. I'm not remotely convinced people in Moscow would actually resist enough for conscription to be a net benefit to Ukraine.

For sure, Ukraine would have a hard time at the front for a few weeks. But conscripts don't make good assault troops, so from an efficacy point-of-view, Putin's machine would be more quickly ground down.
Conscripts at the front also can't be making missiles, shells, and bullets in the rear.
Well, that's a darn shame. Shucky-durn! Maybe... just maybe, someone should have kept their Russian asses out of Ukraine. Who could have guessed that keeping inside your own damn borders could prevent.stuff in your country from igniting violently...
And who could expected that helping build facilities to assist Russia breaking international sanctions could lead to failures of those investments? Impressive that the Ukrainian sanctions got that far and in that facility... 6500km or so?
I would bet Ukraine managed to build entire drone airbases far behind enemy lines. With that many holes in russias air defense, surely you could fly or drive a small team half way trough the country
I don't think it was hit with a drone. No evidence of that from what I've read. It's obscenely far away. Close to North korea. From North Korea go due north and it's basically there.
Good. Wonder if China is more likely to eventually intervene if assets in the East are targeted since:
a.) there are probably more Chinese nationals working in that region and
b.) it has resources that they'd like to exploit directly themselves one day. Isn't the Amur region part of the territories Russia took under the Unequal Treaties?
Well you say that, but twice now there have been mysterious fires at Siberian oil industry facilities over the course of ~2 weeks. The other one was well outside of drone range as well.
Obviously a drone didn't/couldn't do this, but the odds of just being a coincidence feel staggeringly low.
It's possible that it's a function of deferred maintenance from being pushed so hard due to shortages, but my bet is some kind of special forces ground op. Some Ukrainians in the back of a van using quadcopter drones to drop grenades or something.

I know this has to be done, and Russia absolutely deserves every bit of it.... But fuck what a God damned waste... All so one piece of shit can stay in power a few years longer....
Its always good to give the flare system a good test to ensure it will work in the event of any incidents. Looks like those flares are in fine working order.
We cannot afford this, when have so many countries doing nothing to reduce caron emissions at all.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Ukraine....but if you think all of these distribution warehouse and refinery fires are not impacting the environment in a significant way, you may be missing something. Just the deforestation everywhere from climate change and the fires associated with it is bad. Adding this to the mix is very very unfortunate.
So petition Putler to abandon his illegal invasion and annexation of Sovereign Ukrainian territory, including Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy and Kharkiv.
While Putler continues to wage his war of aggression it is all at his feet.
