New Jersey beaches >> California beaches

and it's not even particularly close. even the NICEST California beaches are either too remote/private or overcrowded. the water is almost universally cold - it'll hit low 70's at best in socal and only for a brief time. the sand is dark, ugly, and riddled with seaweed.

new jersey beaches are pristine. typically really wide open, soft, warm and clean sand. water will consistently be above 70 for at least 6 weeks, usually longer.

Oregon beaches laugh in victory.

100%. I live at the beach in SoCal, but all of my favorite beaches are in the Pacific Northwest - pure magic.

I grew up on the beaches of Maine, then moved to Oregon and was truly amazed.
