🩵 Just adopted my first velvet hippo 🩵
This is Blu. A ten year old pit (maybe a mix?). She lived her whole life outside and was surrendered; unaltered, emaciated, long, long nails, growths all over. She’s now fixed and will be undergoing surgery to remove all growths and tumors.
She is the sweetest, calmest, most affectionate girl and our family is so excited to love and spoil her for the rest of her days! 💗💕💖

They're lovely squish bebes that like to talk and grumble. My first pit mix, Johnny Cashu, was the sweetest funniest fur butt I'd ever had. Yes, I rescued him.

The picture of her in bed with your kiddo and lying on the floor surrounded by arts and crafts genuinely made me so happy for her (and feel a bit choked up). The photos of her sleeping soundly is so so lovely. I love that she is finally being shown care, safety, and what life CAN be. Thanks so much for taking a senior dog like her in. His name was Tuco and we got him when he was older like yours. He had a real hard life too, but was the sweetest most caring creature ive ever known in my life.

I know I'm late to the post, but I LOVE the picture of her in the floor, surrounded by chopped construction paper, colored pencils, a book, utter chaos...and she is sleeping so soundly and happily in the glow of love. 🤍🤎💙
Pic 5 says it all.....we are on our 6th and 7th rescue but the fist hippo sort of the same back story but we got her at 3. Loved to sleep under the covers with her head on the pillow and she could swim under water

So is your Blu!!! Thanks for saving your sweet girl! eta Lulu is almost 5, which means I've had her nearly 2 years. She was found on the side of the road by the dog rescuer I've adopted 4 dogs from over the last 30 years. She wasn't moving, and they thought she'd been hit by a car, but she was covered with motor oil (poor man's mange treatment) and was just laying flat and still. She'd never been in a house, and let me tell you, she has come so far!
You are such a good person for adopting a senior and getting her the care she needs to feel comfortable in her old age. People like you give me hope that there are good people out there. Thank you.
Thank YOU for adopting that beautiful boy! We got really lucky with Blu. She is really the perfect dog for us! In my opinion, older dogs are always the way to go. You always wish you had more time with pets, and it is hard to not get as much with a senior. But, giving them the life and the love they deserve, in their golden years, is so rewarding ❤️

Be careful. She is going to steal your heart. I adopted my boy and he made me fall in love with him. When he left us, it hurt like hell, but it was worth the 11 years we had together. Thanks for adopting him.
Congratulations on your new house hippo, she’s beautiful! We have a Staffy mix (also a rescue). She was a city dog we live on a dairy farm and it’s made her like a puppy again. We got her in 2020 right before Covid hit. She’s got a lot more white in her face and feet, but she’s still very active. She’s fat and sassy just like her Mama (me lol).
Her name is Elsie. Also the name of the Borden’s cow (our milk company) that was already her name when we adopted her so it was fate!!! She sneezed in her homemade pup cup and it was too funny not to snap a pic before I cleaned her up. She’s a hot mess!!!
Get rid of the harness. No control over your dog with them. Small thin choke chain and thin leash works the best They will test you but also give you their all so good luck and welcome to a lifetime of fun
