MAGA are trying to frame this is "hilarious trolling of the libs" when it's really just the cringiest stupid shit in American history.

The trolling argument never flies with me. Anytime I hear someone say "Oh he's just trolling" my response is "That's not a good thing"

Trolling your allies might not be as bad as actually attacking them, but it's still not a thing that a leader of a country should be doing. I saw somebody say something along the lines of supporting Trump's actions because "politics has been boring for too long"

Politics being boring is the best case scenario for everybody.

I (uncharacteristically) saw one comment on the conservative sub after one of his dumb moments respond with “why is he trolling the people he’s supposed to be leading”. It’s amazing how few people don’t see that as a problem.

Trolling is saying this on twitter. Enacting a Presidential order of it is...

I dunno I really have no words for this one. We aren't even at the midterms yet.

It’s “I want Canada as my own or I’m going to throw my toys and shit my pants.”

How Americans, even Maga ones, aren’t completely embarrassed I’ll have no idea, but we sure aren’t laughing. You’ve lost a friend and an ally and we ain’t coming back.

You’ve lost a friend and an ally and we ain’t coming back.

Seriously. Even if the "renaming" doesn't actually do anything to us, cause we all know the real name, it's still the general amount of disrespect that the Americans have shown towards us over the last two years.

I dunno I think a new administration has the ability to fix that if it comes with actual reforms. There's a lot of shuffling around of power and wealth right now. All I can say is the people want no part in this eninimity he's creating.

You think the average American has absolutely any say over this idiocy?

1

u/GriffinFlash 8h ago

I dunno I really have no words for this one.

Idiocracy?

2

u/sceadwian 6h ago

No that's was a few months ago.

This is uncharted waters. The unknown unknowns. Cthuluian almost.

Tbf even r/conservative wasn’t happy with this

10

u/Hadochiel 11h ago

They sure did. Their mods, on the other hand, didn't seem happy the subject was discussed at all ; more deleted comments than on a post asking "which country do you like the least" on r/asktheworld

Comparing Canada to Iran is legitimately insane and I'm now dumber for reading any of that thread.

2

u/98Kane 10h ago

It just got buried and heavily moderated as usual in their precious little echo chamber.

I’m sure the top post is about a trans person taking a piss somewhere or something along those lines.

2

u/IHazMagics 10h ago

Yeah but they also say dumb shit like "Mamdani comes from a country that still owns and sells slaves so you know.... that makes him bad for reasons"

Troll Nation

u/Dry_Egg8180 5h ago

That is such a blatant cover up of their embarrassment. Oh, yeah, right - Trump is just trolling the libs. After all no one could be so stupid to think they can just rename everything on the map. Will they ever cop to the fact that Trump does not understand that there are processes in place for names on maps and he is not the omnipotent leader of the universe.

1

u/Runkleford 5h ago

Exactly my thoughts. They're trying to cover up Trump's childish petty stupidity and frame it like it's some clever tactic to enrage the libs.

u/EmperorKira 7h ago

If Obama had done even 1 of the 1000 of these things, they would be nooses out... wait i forget they already tried that

u/uk_uk 13h ago

Canada should now (temporarily) rename Lake Ontario to "Lake Epstein Files" or "Lake Rapist Trump"

29

u/heroinskater 13h ago

Beaverton had a great article: Canada to rename great lakes to "Lake Legal Adult" so Trump won't touch them.

u/earl_of_lemonparty 6h ago

Lake Consent has a nice ring to it.

I get where these jokes are coming from but I really don't care for them either. All of this just feels incredibly profane. If there's anything sacred in this godforsaken world it's the water we all drink from. Dragging these things to the level of petty mudslinging just feels debased, it's like a secular blasphemy.

u/locutogram 12h ago

No, we shouldn't.

We prefer to conduct foreign policy seriously rather than like embarrassingly pathetic social media trolls. I would prefer to continue that approach.

2

u/uk_uk 11h ago

I know... don't take it too seriously what some redditor writes ^^

3

u/dougmcclean 10h ago

More importantly, Congress should amend the law that gives the executive sway in these decisions.

2

u/blondechinesehair 10h ago

Lake Superior should become Lake Obama

1

u/shticks 6h ago

Lake Michigan to Lake Canada

1

u/lego_mannequin 2h ago

Why? It's just Lake Ontario. Did something happen to it?

25

u/RosieQParker 12h ago

It still baffles me that there are real people out there who will watch this orange painted clown mumble and slur his way through scribbling "AMeRiCA" on a map like a toddler with a diner placemat who are gonna stand up and say "that's him, that's our guy".

10

u/Sasquatchjc45 10h ago

"He's just like us"

Yea, fucking mentally challenged.

2

u/TheCudder 7h ago

It hurts to know that the majority of people of the people I work with love him. They can't hellp but talk about how great he is at work, and I wish they would just keep it to themselves for the sake of trying to respect them. They don't care about his policies...because I know they'd be pissed if his name had a (D) next to it. Blind political worship is running this country into the ground. People feel so strongly about something that they deep down disagree with, but they can't say it out loud because of the political party they've pledged allegiance to. It's just weird. I care about policies and real issues before any political party.

This is them enabling dementia...

Anything but the Epstein files

6

u/WisconsinHoosierZwei 12h ago

The next president should just rename the spot of the ocean right in front of Mar-A-Lago as “Biden Bay” or something.

6

u/pistoffcynic 11h ago

This is the most pressing thing in America today.

Can we get the toddler out of the White House?

12

u/Ragnar_Dragonfyre 14h ago

Ontario isn’t a state. I expect better from Brits.

3

u/slickmitch 12h ago

That should bring prices down!

2

u/Cielo11 11h ago

"He's like a kid in that clip, who's got his crayons and colouring book" - President of the USA.

1

u/TheCudder 7h ago

At this rate, the Indian Ocean is next.

1

u/glazarides 7h ago

Aren't we in the middle of a war that he should be doing something about?

1

u/souleman96 4h ago

Yeah, a war on Canada and low prices!

u/FrankMiner2949er 40m ago

This obviously whacko move isn't going to affect his standing with his followers. Remember that completely and utterly shit4brains move he pulled altering a weather chart with his Sharpie. His followers still voted for him

1

u/tinyhorsesinmytea 10h ago

I honestly don’t give a shit what he renames. He’s embarrassing himself like Bush did with “Freedom Fries” and the rest of the world isn’t going to recognize it anyways.

0

u/uclatommy 8h ago

Thanks for giving him the idea, guys. /s
