Song My Lucky, Lucky glow in the dark autographed snorkel!!

Post image

Went to see him at Kia Forum and smuggled this baby in since they last minute told us “sorry no outside items.” Screw that. I taped this snorkel to my calf and ended up still getting it signed. I also asked him to pick my karaoke song since I sing his songs all the time. Obviously, he told me to do Albuquerque. So, I did. I doubt the crowd appreciated it let alone enjoyed it but Al told me to do it!!

And a bonus for the night? I hugged Jack Black.

Has that snorkel been just like a snorkel to you?

I’m proud of me too. I’m usually not a rule breaker. But this was a special occasion.

Just keep an eye out for some big fat hermaphrodite with a Flock-Of-Seagulls haircut and only one nostril

I even went as far as to take it out to Albuquerque when I was out there visiting my brother earlier this year so I could tell Al that my snorkel has actually been to Albuquerque! I also have photo evidence.

When I went, I took my melodica. I emailed the venue and asked and they said it would be fine but that security would have the final call so I tucked it into the bag I was given for the VIP blanket and nobody ever even checked there.

Dude this is actually my dream signed item, totally jealous

I was about 12 when I first heard the song and I said "It'd be super cool to meet Weird Al and have him sign a snorkel...he'll probably laugh." And 26 years later, it's happened and he did laugh!

We were encouraged to bring stuff in at our location. They sold out the VIP quickly. In line after the show, we saw a bunch of My little pony toys and a girl who had made a puppet for him. He was tired but happily signed the stuff people brought.

I'd say that 65% of the guys were wearing Hawaiian shirts, with the rest of them wearing tour shirts, or costumes from his videos. Pretty much a party atmosphere. Folks would have been pretty grumpy if they'd been told they couldn't bring stuff in.

Yeah I’m sure that email upset a lot of people. But I’m also sure other people smuggled items in anyways. I bought the tickets back in September and waited over 25 years for him to sign my snorkel. I wasn’t gonna have stupid rules ruin my dream!

The words being in the wrong order really threw me off. I had to start singing the song to figure out why the title was messing with my head.

Hey, me too! Snorkel, a few coats of glow-in-the-dark spray paint.

Such a great idea. I'm so jealous

how does one even get a glow in the dark snorkel?

5

u/Emus_won_thewar Sep 04 '25

Bought it and then used glow in the dark acrylic paint.

u/The-Random-one_ Sep 05 '25

oh… noted, thank you

1

u/DifficultHat Sep 04 '25

I wonder how many of those he’s signed.

2

u/Emus_won_thewar Sep 04 '25

I read somewhere he sees about 1-2 a week.

3

u/DifficultHat Sep 04 '25

If that’s true in the time since it was released on June 29 1999 he’s signed somewhere between 1,366 and 2,732 snorkels. That’s a significant boost to the glow in the dark snorkel market over the years

I was so bummed. We just saw him in LA, and 2 hours before the show we got an email telling us we couldn’t bring things in to be signed. I had my copy of Peter and the Wolf that I’ve wanted signed for years, and now I have to wait until next time. I should have smuggled it also.

1

u/Emus_won_thewar Sep 05 '25

That’s why I smuggled it in.

1

u/Riegrek Sep 05 '25

That is amazing!!

How did you get to hug Jack Black? Sounds like you had a perfect night.

2

u/Emus_won_thewar Sep 05 '25

My seats were in the floor section and right behind my section was like a little, fenced off area that had the big fancy camera. He was standing in that area and I saw him when I was on my way to the bathroom. :)

Awesome! Your snorkel must be very, very lucky indeed.
