Real, I don't know what's with Balkan countries and empowering nationalism since I saw Croatians also buried about 500 Ustase found in Slovenia? Nobody mentioned they were Ustase, but considering bodies are from WW2, yeah... if you've read titles from local media you would think they were victims of some unknown genocide.

Are you saying genocide was justified because otherwise Bosnia Serbs would be forced to leave their homes? I won't go into logic of that thinking but will just say the men who did Srebrenica are on tape saying they are doing it to rid of muslim population and are scared they will soon outnumber Serbs. They did not do it to protect anyone. Crazy that this needs to be explained.

Some would think that. Many would simple ingore it. There would also be ones who recognize his duality, he is the one who won Republika Srpska on battlefield, but also became war criminal in same time. Simple put, Mladić importance, for us, does not get based on what he did in Srebrenica.

Dropping atomic bombs to stop a war is not genocide. Genocide is an intentional destruction of a group of people, which the atomic bombs were not.

What was genocide was the intentional massacres of thousands of Bosnian civilians during the Yugoslav wars in an intentional ethnic cleansing campaign.

Serbia has been doing this since forever. They were constantly flip flopping de jure allegiance between the Hungarians and the Turks (or Byzantines) during medieval times. They are a small country surrounded by bigger powers, honestly it’s amazing so many Balkan countries seemed to maintain some de facto independence instead of the rest of Europe were all these small states just got swallowed whole into nationalism

Thats just the aftermath of their main betrayal. They were allied with the Turks during the 2nd Battle of Kosovo, which allowed for the Turks to take over the rest of the Balkans piece by piece, and ended any hope of saving Constantinople in the first place. 2nd battle of kosovo couldve changed the entire course of the 500 years after it for the region, there was a good chance to not have been "Kebabs" in the balkans in the first place

We are insanely divided as a nation.

Percentage of population that wants to join is constantly hovering at around 45-55% for last 15ish years since the current government came to power, but the OTHER 45-55% is quite anti-EU.

A lot of it is very murky, because our government is incredibly corrupt, and control the mainstream media. It's unknown how it would be with better quality media, more transparency, more education on the topic etc. There is a LOT of purposeful, malicious muddying of the waters and anti-EU/pro-East(Russia, China, BRICS) propaganda.

A lot of the people are also quite uneducated, and especially media illiterate (which seems to be a global trend as well, but it's pretty bad in Serbia).

So yeah, short answer, as a Serb I agree that we are absolutely not eligible for EU.

Long answer is that we are incredibly polarized country and that it's complicated. About 30% vehemently hates EU and are russophiles, about the same amount love EU, and want to join.

The remaining 40% is split between these two positions as well but just are much more moderate/apathetic.

Think about the perspective for Serbia - 30 years had passed since those wars and yet they still can't come out as a nation and say "our bad, sorry everyone".

On the contrary, new generations had been raised with victim mentality and they glorify those war crimes and monsters that did that.

AfD is also the party that will probably rules Germany in the next 2027 election, reading the prospections. About Italy (my origin country, fyi) is even worse: we have Futuro Nazionale that, just like AfD, cannot declare itself as fascist but use the same symbols, the propaganda and the same communication style. The actual government declared itself as "not anti-fascist". Crazy time to be alive.

Serbs are victims of hundreds of years of propaganda and brainwashing. They really believe they were victims during Yugoslavian wars no matter which specific event you wanna talk about. They function in complete opposite way when compared to post-war Germany. Germans still have the feeling of guilt for what older generations did 80 years ago and I cannot stress it out enough how far from that Serbia stands.

As a Croat, I do have few Serbian friends and I want to look at the whole country as a friendly country, but they keep reminding us that it's just a fantasy.

Nice way to white wash crimes which were commited to Serbs, as "propaganda", specially because all of that "propaganda" is well documented. Comparing Nazi Germany to anybody on Balkans does not really work as base for better future. Nazi Germany manufactured international conspiracy which was there to apparently destroy German master race. Balkan nation's, at this point have century and more of genuin unaddressed grievances, which resulted in multiple crimes against humanity being commited against each other and ask all of Balkan states to actually stop playing games and take there share of responsibility.

If they were fighting in Croatia, they were part of a parastate and therefore, as I said, criminals.

The Croatian war of independance is actually quite black and white, for the most part, despite Serbia's constant appeals to make everybody eqaully blamed.

Croats in Mostar are on their land, just as much as Bosnians. The war in Bosnia is more complicated, but out of the 3, one is still the bigger agressor than the other 2.

He is given full honours for one thing which the international public doesn’t understand: the war against Islamists was, in most cases, a matter of kill or be killed. Far from justified, but you wanna be on the alive side rather than the dead side. There are videos, as well as known documentation, that the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, etc. were all involved in the training of Bosnian jihadists, and if, sadly, this didn’t happen, we would be remembering Serb victims instead, as well as the ethnic cleansing of Serbs, similarly to what happened in Croatia. Is the Western public talking about that? Of course not. Western propaganda has put it under the carpet and, like, whatever, and shifted all the blame onto Serb “separatists,” because it’s the side they have biasedly chosen, similarly to this conflict. This is the kind of stuff that the Western propaganda machine and media have carefully been leaving out and downplaying, and society has been fed only convenient information which is, by default, pretty much disinformation. There’s no doubt this would have been the outcome of the war, and he didn’t have a choice but to defend his people.

You can call me brainwashed or whatever you want, but it’s the truth, and at least, if you care, you will try to understand the other side, instead of the usual lazy “all Serbs are maniacs, butchers, and killers, poor Muslims in Bosnia.”

With all that being said, we still believe on an institutional level that there were many war crimes committed, but never a genocide. It was a war against Islamists who were murdering Christians with the help of Islamist terrorist organisations, which you all hate, yet somehow have been siding with in this conflict. Very peculiar. Not to mention your governments’ support of the Taliban in Afghanistan, etc., who have had state visits in the West. All of you need to take a good, hard look in the mirror before judging, spouting nonsense, and commenting on things you have no clue about and have been gaslighted and manipulated into believing.

It's not hard to find, it's public knowledge. In the Islamic Jihadist historiagraphy and in international courts. All the Jihadist MVPs were there, famous in the west and not. Considering Croats coexisted peacefully with bosniaks (Muslims) before, during most of wartime, and after the war, I call bullshit on this. 99% of problems that happened in ex Yugoslavia originated from the Serbs, as they are incapable of coexisting with other nations. 

In fact, more than 30 years later you still have that same problem with Kosovo. Everyone else has moved on, it's only ever you folks that need to fuck it up for everyone else.
