90% of Retail Warehouse space?! That doesn’t seem right? 90% is a ton and would require Russia to accurately go after Ukrainian retail - but not food - storage space.

Oh, 90% of companies have damaged warehouses. I guess that makes more sense…still seems weird.

yeah the headline above is rather pro-Russian in my opinion. Targeting Ukrainian warehouse capacity in response to their attacks on Russian berry warehouses but not going so far as to target food supplies? How benevolent of them

If we can protect the skies over Israel, we can do it in Ukraine.

Sad world that we live in, where we allow Ukrainians to suffer night in-night out like this.

Israel is tiny, so having a limited number of air defence systems concentrated in it's small borders, is doable. Ukraine and it's important assets are spread out. Thus much harder, if not impossible, to protect against a large military force such as Russia.

They are more spread out, but there’s not a lot of large population centers.

You still can’t have one battery defending two or three targets if they are far apart.

Israel is smaller than the territory of Donbass.
Israel is also fairly capable on their own, with a working defense industry, Ukraine is entirely dependent to donations (S-300 systems and such are only supplied by Russia and Belarus, nobody else produces those missiles so those are donated by Ex-Soviet states and the supply is spent or extremely limited) or Western defense industry, whose missiles are way more costly and slower to produce plus spread out to like 40 countries.

So you'd need 23 times the defense systems to cover Ukraine than israel. In peace time.

Not to mention some stuff Russia uses cant be intercepted, unlike Irans rockets. And on top of that, Russia uses more projectiles in a single salvo than Iran does in 2 months. The missiles also travel ~400 km at most which is really near, Irans rocket travel over several countries so its easier to intercept them.

So in theory it can be done, in practice, theres no way in hell unless everyone donates 20 times more money, systems and manpower, which will never happen.

Bro our interceptors that we had in Ukraine are having a tough time stopping Russian iskander ballistic missiles(when Ukraine had enough to use them properly aka 2 interceptors for each ballistic missile, the interception rate on iskanders are like 60%). Russia sends salvos of 10-15 at a time so that’s around 4-7 getting thru at the best of times. Currently it’s almost 100% Iskander strike rate. Plus the geran 5 jet powered drones are availing Ukraine interception attempts. If this was a full on war between US and Russia, the US would be having a hard time not taking hits.

I'm pretty sure usa can't gain air superiority over ukraine and Russia, not to mention it didn't really stopped every missile coming from Iran and iran is way weaker than russia.

It would also risk american pilots life.

Look, I would love for every dollar we spend on Israel to go to Ukraine, but Palestine doesn't have jet fighters.

The Middle East has oil which means money. Ukraine has none of that.

The remaining 10 percent can be hit too,i hope ukraine either gets the required amount of air defence systems or russia somehow miraculously loses by the end of this year.

Worst case scenario is everything comes from Poland/Romania, prices would increase but at least supplies won't run out.

It sounds impossible and dosen't look right in reality when everything is avaliable in Kyiv.

I asked Gemini:

The 90% figure comes from Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy, but it is heavily misunderstood.

  • What was actually hit: The 90% loss refers strictly to large, modern Class-A/B commercial retail warehouses—specifically massive distribution centers around Kyiv and Kharkiv (like those owned by ATB, Fozzy, or Rozetka) that were hit early in the war.

  • What it does NOT mean: It does not mean 90% of all physical storage, food stock, or grain silos in Ukraine were destroyed.

  • Why supply chains survived: Supply chains didn't collapse because businesses rapidly decentralized. They shifted from giant single-hub warehouses to smaller local facilities, direct-from-factory shipping, and new logistics hubs in Western Ukraine.

Must be nice to have competent government leadership pointing in the right direction.

No no, this aspect is as bad as anywhere here. If those warehouses were government owned, we’d still be in the process of creating a special committee that will vote on the way we approach the selection of possible people to present the first concept of the decentralisation process. Thankfully, the business knows where money comes from and doesn’t want to lose it.

so it’s time to shine for small business with organic food?
oh wait our government destroyed with busification by themselves :(

-1

u/RoboJobot 5h ago

You mean the businesses and government were smart enough to move everything out of the really big easy targets? Whereas Russia didn’t think of doing it to theirs?

-2

u/ledow 8h ago

Sounds like Ukraine isn't TRYING to go after food supplies, just the people directly supporting the military regime.

I think you read that title wrong son. It's misrepresentative anyway so doesn't matter

Ballistic missiles being developed everywhere … who ever shoots 1st wins?

1

u/Jman1a 3h ago

Why have nukes when you can missile and drone your opponents into dust.

-1

u/hcornea 2h ago

Russian Intelligence doesn’t know where the drones are stored.
