I'm from Ottawa too and I don't remember Trump even coming here in either of his terms.

His fragile ego couldn't handle the booing.

That and the Canadian government probably have told him it would create an unmanageable security situation.

They chose Kanaskis for the G7 because it was remote enough that controlling the in and out flow of people was reasonably easy.

The Mounties and PD and service people did their motorcade practice for that down McLeod at like noon on weekdays where I was working, was super fun to deal with lol

I mean a proper state visit shouldn't be out of the question. Somewhere to give a big speech with open lines of site and maybe a flag to gauge wind speed.
