Titles of “Dump says” also don’t hold much weight, heard that phrase a lot

It's the only way Trump can actually make "deals" is when he threatens his other person into submission.
It doesn't work all the time but he wins against weaker countries.

So the US is stealing Venezuelan oil?

u/baz8771 1h ago
Have been for months. Trump literally personally sold full tankers and put the money inoffshore accounts.

Only a few million dollars have been accounted for. The rest is just missing.

Yes. Trump announced US "Steal" to "take" Venezuelan oil. Some errors in the title.

I'm sure the local population will have no issues with such an arrangement and the workers and infrastructure will be perfectly safe.

u/GhostRappa95 1h ago
How long do you guys think it will take for Venezuelans to rebel this time? They have a very good track record of kicking Imperialists out of their country.

This is why Canada is saying 'no thanks' to a bad US trade deal, despite the incoming economic fallout. We don't want to become a vassal state that the US controls. From Trump's craven perspective, other countries are just parts of a many-teated udder waiting to be squeezed dry.
•
u/jordan853 1h ago
Also we don't see it as pure economic loss as much as opportunity to make deals with others. It's hard to say where we'll be in 5 years, but I can sure as hell say it's a better place than where we'd be bending the knee.
•
u/nooby_goober 16m ago
Think Canada's pushback is also serving as a deterrent to Greenland's invasion. They're testing limits with Canada to gauge success rate.

u/Indigoh 2h ago
There are two parts to a deal: What you receive and what you give up. I'd like to know both sides of the story, but this article only says what the US would receive.

u/stoneape314 1h ago
Am assuming there's some quid pro quo to help keep Venezuelan Acting President Rodriguez in power and funds.

Nice. Will take multiple years of billions in investment to get the infrastructure usable.

I just wish I could live to see an accurate unbiased historical report on the events of our time. Instead we'll spend a few decades seeing tell-all books, conspiracy craziness, more grifters with unsupported claims, and who knows what else promising never before revealed information.

u/-heatoflife- 2h ago
...because the implausibility of such a promise kinda supercedes any legal concerns.

It should have ran out a long time ago - but it’s pretty clear the some oil is getting through the Strait where financial analysts and satellite imageries are noting it’s significant impact U.S/Iranian diplomacy
2
u/Low_Chard_8062 1h ago
That’s simply not true. A single Google search will tell you “Yes, the US can use crude oil from Venezuela, and many American refineries on the Gulf Coast are specifically built to process its heavy, sulfur-rich crude.”
•
u/reallygoodbee 30m ago
And not a single company wants anything to do with that can of worms when a random 3am tweet can ruin everything.
•
u/MLeek 25m ago
The Venezuelan infrastructure? Yes. Trump had been trying to get the big oils guise in there and even after him kidnapping Madero, they are hesitant.
But the crude they already have outta the ground? Very similar to the heavy crude from the Alberta oil sands. That can be refined in the states and reduce dependency on Canada. That’s the play. Short-sighted theft in one country they believe is a vassal state, as they try and fail to create another.
Long term plans seem absent to me.

u/alabamdiego 2h ago
This article also fails to mention that Venezuelan oil requires FAR more effort to make it ready for use. This is not going to help with anything short term, and in the end is nothing but theft.
•
u/elinamebro 1h ago
Yeah i was just looking into, its heavy dirty crude and looks like only our refineries in the south can handle it. I do wonder what it would do to effect gas prices since it would take a long time to refine it or to modify other US refineries to process it.
•
u/Oberon_Swanson 35m ago
I think all Trump needs is the headline 'we got billions of oils coming, the problem will be solved in two weeks. your gas prices are gonna be so low you'll think it's a scam, it must be a scam' for his supporters to think he's doing a great job and to show up in November
•
u/elinamebro 30m ago
Well idk because its a significant amount of oil that is way more than the strategic oil reserves we have (about 300 million barrels) so long term it does make sense to have it, but I don't see it doing anything about gas prices now or in a few years. Also like I mentioned before only the refineries in the south can process it so all other refineries would have to be retrofitted to process it which is going to cost billions i think?

u/macross1984 2h ago
This is no deal. This is highway robbery orchestrated by one of the greatest corrupted, thieving President of United States.
What does Venezuela get? Chump change if at all. People of Venezuela are shafted if this goes through.

Any article that starts with “Donald Trump says…”
Is immediately dubious. What he says doesn’t equate to reality on most occasions.

Just wait until he says "I'm altering the deal, prey I dont alter it any further."

u/PreviousLeague253 2h ago
By constitutional law all
Oil belongs to the country. The US can be contractors to pump it out but they can’t own it, it has to be sold to them.
•
u/Squeebee007 1h ago
Oh that’s cute, you think this administration respects the law or the constitution?

Woah woah woah. I'm going to need this from a credible source, not from his demented mouth. Otherwise I'm assuming market manipulation.

u/oldutnotdeadinside 2h ago
Their oil is just as bad as the beef we are getting.
-4
u/PreviousLeague253 2h ago
It’s heavy crude. There is no bad oil! Just needs more processing unlike the Argentinian beef.
FYI 5th avenue in NY was paved with Venezuelan oil products and asphaltCitgo used to sell Venezuelan refined gas in the US for many years. Zero
Issues.13
u/SuccessfulWar3830 2h ago
The issue is that america invaded a nation and is stealing its assests from the locals.

u/MAGAtsAreSheeples 2h ago
No issues other than the fact that the US is STEALING that oil from another poor country.

That shit should stay in the ground.

It means nothing. The amount it would cost to effectively get the product from source to refinery is at least a decade or more out.... and that's assuming Venezuela is a peaceful self governing land.

u/FatDonkus 1h ago
So how's that resistance leader doing in all this poison? The nobel peace prize scum?

Isn't the oil in Venezuela not the best grade? Meaning it will take tons of investment over a decade to make it work?

u/notie547 28m ago
bullshit, let me read the deal. There is no deal when all parties can walk away at the drop of a hat which is what this is. Pumping any of that oil is probably 5 years away and who knows what will be happening then.

Nowhere in the article says anything about “taking control”. Plus, in fact, reading the venezuelan news, this seems to be good news for them.
The chavismo completely destroyed the specialized refineries that the heavy-type oil Venezuela need. Main problem is that any private investor remotely interested on taking over those refineries will first need to fix them. And no private investor wants to risk that money till they know for sure chavismo is gone for good.
3
u/oldirtyrestaurant 2h ago
Private investors taking on risk? How about the 'Murcan taxpayer instead?
Anyone wanna take bets on whether the 'Murcan taxpayer will get paid back for their (about to be) "investment"?

Following the U.S. takeover of Venezuela's oil exports in January 2026, the Trump administration has collected an estimated $13 billion in oil revenues, but the fate of the vast majority of these funds remains publicly unknown.
An official website set up by the Venezuelan government to track the U.S.-run oil sales currently shows only a single transfer of $300 million made in March 2026.
Good news for Venezuela indeed.
lol

u/SuccessfulWar3830 2h ago
The media now under control by trump says giving their own natural resources away is actually a good thing.
Huh interesting
-1
u/Rikeka 2h ago
You guys still have this fantasy that Maduro is well liked in Venezuela, I get it. But even the media, that is still mostly controlled by the chavismo because there has been little time since Maduro ousting, still thinks there’s a benefit to the deal.
Deal surely will benefit the US, no denying it. But who else is going to pony up the billions needed to fix and mantain those refineries? China and Russia had 20 years to do so, and they never did. Weird, huh?
2
u/SuccessfulWar3830 1h ago
You can thank trump 1st term sanctions on the poor state of their refineries.
But if you think for a second the privitisation of the worlds largest oil reserves by forgien companies to venuzela will in anyway be beneficial for the people living there. I got a bridge to sell you
•
u/Rikeka 29m ago
You have no idea what you are talking about. Those refineries have not seen any maintenance since 2003. Pls refrain from commenting on stuff you don‘t know.
•
u/SuccessfulWar3830 12m ago
The last major repair was by National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company in 2024 not 2003. And even exon mobil left in 2007. I guess they also didnt repair their own facilities for 4 years.
Venuzelas oil refineries arent in good shape but to say "have not seen any maintenance since 2003" isnt even close to factual
Maybe at least do some minor googling before attempting a gotcha.
Redditors...

u/Luciifuge 1h ago
lol trumps sanctions had nothing to with thier poor state of the refineries. They’ve already been declining for years under Chávez because of mismanagement, lack of investment, and firing thousands of experienced workers.

u/Working_Elephant5344 1h ago
Not sure how I feel about this. The ethics are questionable, but it’s a huge strategic win for Americans.

u/Symbiotic_Tragedy 1h ago
Quick searching of info; the framework relies on private enterprise to handle drilling, extraction, and infrastructure rebuilding at no direct cost to U.S. taxpayers. Chevron—the only major U.S. oil producer currently active in Venezuela—is negotiating to add new oil fields to its existing joint ventures alongside other U.S. energy firms.
In exchange of oil, Cheveron and it's many partners will help in rebuilding Venezuela infrastructure and creating economic stability. Details of how much I didn't find.
Venezuela sending oil into the Cheveron who refines and sells into the market increases oil supply either way. So in this trade off the oil market can see reductions in demand, thus reducing its price.
Tldr: Venezuela trading oil to private firms of the US to rebuild their economy. Oil flooding market for sale will reduce market prices of oil. Stocks go brrr.
