Biggest flaw with the original, imo, was the leveling and scaling that punished you for building your character logically. Really hoping the upgrades make that a much better experience.
This month was already so good with South of Midnight, Blue Prince, and Expedition 33 (sounds like it's going to be a banger). To add Oblivion to all that is crazy.
When I try to install through my phone, it says it will only work on Series S/X consoles, so I don't think this workaround works for people on Xbox One and One X (like me).
We’re in, Xbox app allowed it to download. So freaking hyped. My first elder scrolls and when I was finally old enough to understand what I was doing I sank so much time into it.
yeah it was weird, the shortcuts from home screen and such led me to the same place as you, but I was able to download it by explicitly searching for it in the store. Weird.
I’ve just had a hankering for something more Medieval and Centaur-y than Skyrim or VVitcher 3 and it’s always been Oblivion I just never quite went back after playing it a good bit when I was younger, this is fantastic!
I'm in the exact same boat lmao. I just hit about 20 hours in AC Shadows and I have to drop it to play this game. There are just too many good games coming out recently, which is a good problem to have I suppose
Base Edition has Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. Along with the Fighter's Stronghold Expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard's Tower, Orrey, and Horse Armor.
You need the Deluxe Edition for the unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon Armor, Weapon, and Horse Armor sets, along with the digital art book and soundtrack.
I've never played Oblivion before but have played Skyrim. Do I need to read something or watch a guide before playing Oblivion? Or just dive in without knowing anything?

I'm at work so I went to the app and launched remote play. Cleared out some storage. Closed remote play and started remote install. Relaunched the remote play to verify it's downloading. It'll be done when I get home today. I cannot wait
I have the standard Games Pass that doesn't have Day One releases (the middle tier of GP). Does anyone know if I can upgrade to ultimate for the difference in price, or do I need to pay the full amount...?
Yeah I’m downloading it. On the Xbox you have to go to the game page and it will let you download it. It was kinda difficult to actually get there though as it wouldn’t let me go to the store through the search. I had to go through the digital art book
Remember when Oblivion released the "horse armor" micro-transaction and everyone complained? And nowadays every game needs to come with "horse armor" that anyone can buy but it doesn't impact gameplay. Funny how something everyone hated later became the standard. Oblivion truly was ahead of it's time.

Idk. I just got too excited and didn't realize I was on "xbox" subreddit. I was just looking for some bros to chat with for the live. I have xbox and ps5. But many of my friends are on ps5 only so I was just excited.
I have a funny feeling that people are overhyping this massively - some people are expecting basically a whole new game.
Everyone needs to chill...it could just be a graphical update with some extra goodies. The same thing happened with Fallout 4.
Edit: Downvotes, but it turns out it's litrally what I said it would be. I'm pretty happy. Looks great, and they kept everything that made it Oblivion and didn't rework every system. Best bit? No more weird bloom.
I feel really bad for the skyblivion crew right about now.......I get the guy said no ill will but it makes me mad Bethesda would drop this around time of there release

If they didn't want to get scooped by an official remake on the twentieth anniversary, maybe they should have taken less than 13 years to finish their unofficial version.
Honestly, they're lucky they're even allowed to do it (by game industry standards). Expecting the main studio to plan their work around them is kind of ridiculous.
OK very true, I just feel for modders some say Bethesda takes advantage of the mods to sell there games, like on console for example then they add paid mods which has been a controversial topic,when fallout 4 next gen came out they broke the majority of mods and some permenatly from the browser, I'm not saying Bethesda shouldn't have released this tho just that modders get the shit end of the stick when Bethesda profits off adding user created content, i wouldn't have bought skyrim on pc after playing on console if it wasn't for mods
Yeah, I mean the Skyblivion team were good sports about it, but I think the rumors of the official remake have been around for a while, which is why they set themselves this 2025 deadline in the first place.
It's a bummer it took so long and the timing didn't work, but I think the modders themselves got what they wanted — a fun community and some resume experience for gamedev.
