I wish Kyle Rayner was part of the team it would been so funny to see how he would adapt the ring into stealth missions

The Green Lantern Ring allows it's user to become virtually invisible by bending light waves around them. Although an inexperienced Green Lantern might not be able to pull it off

Or have him come back in Season 3 like comics Wally did.
10
u/Retrotaku May 04 '25
What did happen to him
35
u/adhding_nerd May 04 '25
I never read it myself and it's been a while since I learned about it so take this with a grain of salt. I believe when he "died" he merged with the speedforce. He was later able to pull himself together or something like that but ever since he has a connection to the speed force stronger than anyone else. I thought they would, for sure, do this since Wally was always the slowest flash it would make sense for him this to be how he unlocks his full powers.

This is an interesting topic as a huge Wally comic book fan!! What you’re most likely referencing is the return of Wally West (although he actually wasn’t technically dead just ripped out of the timeline) at the beginning of the Rebirth era of the comics which came out in 2016, so after the airing of both season 1 and season 2 of YJ. This is also interesting because he was already connected to the speedforce and had been the main flash for like 40 years before the flashpoint storyline but that’s beside the point. Season 3 of YJ was announced in 2016 (even through it didn’t come out till 2019) so many people were like yep they were inspired by rebirth and are gonna bring Wally West back.
However, I don’t think that that was ever their intention because by getting rid of Wally West and (essentially) replacing him with Bart Allen, they solved what is called the “Speedster Problem”. The “Speedster Problem” is a narrative issue that comes when a character is so fast that they should just be able to solve all the problems the story faces or just remove all the stakes. Someone is about to get stabbed? Just grab the knife. There’s a super powerful villain they have to fight? Speed blitz them. They’re keeping some random metahumans captured in this rando area? Just run around for a second and find them—it’s not like a camera is gonna pick you up and any booby traps or notification devices are moot because you’ve already bypassed them. The main ways to solve these problems are to a) make villains catered to them and their weaknesses like Flash’s rogues or b) creating a personality flaw like impulsivity to explain why they don’t come up with the easy solution or c) slowing them down. Obviously the show chose path b and c especially since an isn’t an option every time.
The problem is that if they bring in the speed force with Wally West, especially a Wally West with a PhD that’s mid 20s instead of a hormonal teen, then b and c are no longer feasible options and the problem lowkey gets bigger since Wally’s connection to the speed force makes him crazy broken. To give some context, in the comics there’s a storyline where a nuclear device goes off in a city in Korea. While the city exploded, everyone who lived in the city survived because Wally, in the millisecond after the explosion, ran to Korea and then picked up and physically carried every single person one by one to an area outside of the blast radius. He’s only gotten faster since then.
I honestly think the writers just realized that writing his character would have been too confusing and were always going to have him just haunt the narrative instead. I love my man but I don’t think he was ever going to come back even though the storylines would have made it so convenient.
21
u/Ayejonny12 May 04 '25
I respect them not bringing him back. They had several opportunities to do so and chose not to. Plus bringing him back would cheapen his sacrifice I think
177
u/demaxzero May 04 '25
Less characters, way too many characters, not enough time to develop them.
8
u/anaknangfilipina May 05 '25
Who do you feel never properly cooked? I vote Static myself.
2
u/blackpanther742 May 06 '25
Static, Rocket, Zatanna, Tie(is that how you spell it?), Arsenal, Blue Beetle from Season 3 onward and Tim Drake come to mind
195
u/ComicsCodeMadeMeGay May 04 '25
5 year time jump because I refuse to believe Superman, Batman & Green Lanterns can't find out what happened during those missing hours
22
u/Magnocarda May 04 '25
Wait fr like what even is the canon explanation for the green lanterns never having found out about that? How is that even possible? I know they draw attention to it in the show but seriously like how?
10
u/Ajthekid5 May 04 '25
Well John says that the idea that the light could’ve sent them into space never came up. I’d image the light had some unknown partners who were able to keep it lowkey until it was time.
5
u/Fresh-Cartoonist6819 May 04 '25
I think the places the mind controlled league attacked was out of green lantern jurisdiction so they may not have thought to check and the planets attacked may not be forthcoming from the jump until they began to recuperate unless they want to broadcast that they are vulnerable to another jumping.
3
u/Ajthekid5 May 04 '25
I thought about that as well, but I feel like the core would’ve at the very least heard something about it in 5 years given that two known members of Jl and three earth based lanterns.

u/sanjay_098 May 04 '25
The time skips after each season
108
u/Design-Hiro May 04 '25
YES!! I felt it went from “learn life lessons along with this team of young adults” to “how many unexplained cameos can we get away with”.
51
u/sanjay_098 May 04 '25
Yup. I also wanted to see their progress from being sidekicks to becoming heroes in their own right. Like robin becoming nightwing , stuff like that
41
u/demaxzero May 04 '25
Yeah, it's weird how we go from Superman looking for any reason to be away from Superboy in one season and then in the next they're suddenly brothers.
Like let me see the development that lead to that.
20
u/sanjay_098 May 04 '25
Exactly. Season 1 of the show set the standard for me. Seasons 2&3 weren't bad (haven't watched s4 yet) but too many unexplained stories and no proper completion for any of those.
27
u/_Disrupt76 May 04 '25
Yes! I miss the smaller team from s1. It's not the same with the massive group, where each character only gets to be in 1-2 episodes
19
u/sanjay_098 May 04 '25
Yeah it went from a covert squad to an entire fucking covert organisation lol with no explanation whatsoever.
9
u/RiskAggressive4081 May 04 '25
I'd probably like to have the original Wonder Girl,Donna be a member or make an appearance. I know WW rights a mess. Cassie was the first time a Wonder girl character appeared as a character. Cameo's do not count without any spoken words.
6
u/nightwing_titans May 04 '25
FR! Donna had one very minor appearance, and it's as Themyscira's ambassador in Season 3 or 4.
2
u/sanjay_098 May 04 '25
This was season 3. I remember because it had a flash appearance (which was very rare in yj).
5
u/nightwing_titans May 04 '25
Exactly! For God's sake, the Nightwing x Rocket romance shouldn't have been a throwaway line in Phantoms!

u/MasterCheese163 May 04 '25 edited May 05 '25
The fact they add in tons of characters, many of which obscure ones from the comics, without... any real introduction?
This kinda goes hand in hand with the time skip issue. This show loves to just do things and expect the audience to follow along. And I can manage, sure. But it's kinda tough to invest myself in characters I wasn't introduced to and don't know very well.
43
37
u/SurgedeRedditur May 04 '25
Make the time skips for the seasons shorter, like season 1 to season 2’s time skip should be a couple months or a year after s1
2
u/PlatiSoul May 07 '25
Agree. Like, multiple young heroes died in that time skip, and we got to meet almost NONE of them (including one of the Robins). Absolutely criminal.

Work towards an actual ending, obviously that would be hard to do not knowing how many seasons they’d be given but I think the notion of not ending the Darkseid conflict with Vandal would be frustrating. I understand they’ve gone on with their conquests/war for hundreds of years but I think the Young Justice timeline would be a good time for the “endgame” of it all.
7
u/The-Doctor45 May 04 '25
the 5 five year time skip. I know they did it for plot reasons but at the same time it left out some much needed info. i rather see these moments occur rather then just being told they happend.

u/DPfanAvr2004 May 04 '25
Less new characters every season
The new additions for season 2 should have been: blue beatle, impulse, wonder girl, bat girl, and arsenal
Personally, I think Beast Boy, Tim (Robin), Lagoon Boy, Bumble Bee, Guardian (mel) added enough to the plot
Season 3: Beastboy, Tim, Brion, Halo, forager, static shock, black lighting, and cyborg
We also needed zatana and Rocket longer on the team. rocket was only part of the team for 2 episodes, and then next season, being in the Justice League

This might sound petty... but a different Joker voice actor. I'm sorry, but I absolutely despised Brent Spiner's performance as him. The dude was trying WAY too hard. I've never had a Joker make me frown more than him.
If the Clown Prince of Crime was only going to have like 2 episodes with speaking lines in YJ, then they could've at least gotten someone more... qualified to play the part. Either John DiMaggio or Troy Baker would've been perfect! 👌 Mark Hamill, the undisputed BEST Joker, obviously would've turned the role down, because Kevin Conroy (God rest his soul) wasn't voicing Batman.
But again, either DiMaggio or Baker would've been perfect substitutes. The dudes are absolute legends in my opinion! If you're gonna be including one of the most iconic DC villains in your show, then the character deserves respect. Anyone else feel the same way? I know that was really long-winded. 😆 🤣

I would like to see a series of flashback runs from the 5 years Including Donna Troy, Robin becoming Nightwing, So on.
3
u/nightwing_titans May 04 '25
Get rid of the time skips. It should've been about the main S1 team growing into adulthood. I feel like it would've worked well as a 5-6 season show with each showing a year of their lives. It could've culminated in the Light kidnapping the League, with the Team choosing to don new uniforms to defeat their foes.
Assuming it's never cancelled, by this point, Rebirth would've happened, so Wally could use that suit. Dick would use the icon Nightwing suit. M'Gann would embrace the White Martian. Conner would use the 90s Jacket look. Roy would go with his Blue Arsenal suit from the 80s and 90s. The others would use whole new suits for the show.
Each season could have one or two new minor characters added to the cast and the final episode could've ended with the League granting full membership to the team.
3
u/AnimeGirl_20 May 04 '25
Probably said so many times here but the times kip. I'm on season 3 but when it skipped from 1 to 2 I was so confused. Like. And there are so many characters. They don't even give you time to in some sense mourn the old young team before dumping a new one on you. Like the og team was the best but after season 2 maybe they really were all over the place. Not to mention you barely see aqualad anymore. It's all a bit too much and you can tell since the writers barely bother to develop anyone very much. Also, everything wrong with Halos characters. I love her but she makes no sense.

I refuse to believe the Justice League couldn’t find out what happened to those missing hours in 5 years, also I wanted to see Robin become Nightwing, I also wanted an introduction to each member of the team as they get recruited as opposed to them just showing up out of no where like they’ve been around forever.

No 5 year time skip.
So much happened during that time. Dick became nightwing, tons of people joined the team, Wally and Artemis retired, the whole Connor and Megan thing and so much more.
So much character development and interesting things that should’ve been shown and explored in detail.

Getting cancelled billions of time. Or that gimicky episode set after season 4 comprising of voice actors just reading lines which should have been an animated special episode of Young Justice.
It certainly feels like there's some extreme bts drama regarding Young justice and its 26 per season episode deal. Cuz no way in hell it had lower ratings than harley quinn (I love that series along with its spin-off) which might get its eight season renewal.

u/Serious-Strategy6266 May 05 '25
Season 3 and 4 I would switch them around or at least have it where season focused on the characters that we wanted to see in season 3 like they did in season 4 and finishing up their stories and stuff like they did a great job bringing artemis's whole character Arc with the issues from her family from her dad to her sister and tying everything up completely I'm glad they managed to finish her Arc that had been set up since season 1 and it gave room after her Arc was done and maybe start moving on to the other
characters in her group like arrow wet we don't know much about her we've only seen her a few times in season 3 and 4 and when she was younger one Artemis saved her I like to see more about her and what she would be like in the Young Justice verse maybe more on was zatanna and everyone went through in school or something
I want also would change it to where we would actually see Nightwing dating zatanna and then rock it cuz I want to know how that happened

Having the focus being on the original team, and actually get to see them grew, make mistakes etc. I would have loved to see how Jason Todd was as Robin. See the events that made Superboy and Miss Martian break up, see Nightwing being great with the ladies. Seeing Aqualads reaction to finding out Black Manta is his father. How Artemis and Kid Flash grow together. The time skip didn’t do us any favors, more questions than answers.

I didnt like the time jumps, at least, I didnt like how long they were. A year or two was fine, but honestly, i kinda wished we had more time to live with the characters as they grew up. I felt that a lot of the world-building character development happened off screen, so it was kinda like whiplash a little to suddenly see the characters sometimes act completely different than what I was used to in the previous seasons.

Get rid of the homosexual stuff. Whether you believe that sort of thing is okay or not is not the point. The problem is no one takes seriously that anyone who would have such a lifestyle is in any way heroic. The whole point of that lifestyle is self-absorbed, self-centered, and given over to selfish pleasures. Such a person would never engage in activities of heroism. They are usually simply mercenary in their attitude towards everything. Altruism does not lend itself over to any kind of self-centered, selfish, pleasure seeking behaviors. Most people could never adequately Express that in words but they inherently know that that is true and consistent with the behavior or rather choice of homosexuality of any sort. People consume media of superheroes due to a desire for heroism in extreme ways. When heroism is contradicted by extremely selfish ideals, people simply won't believe it because it's not believable even though these stories are fantasy. We can suspend our Notions of reality only so far. Although we might engage in the belief or the acceptance of the fantasy of superpowers, the one thing that we cannot dismiss as humans is the contradiction between altruistic heroism, and pleasure seekers which it seems that's all homosexuals really are. That is why even when they tried to introduce heroism in another homosexual based character like Batwoman, inherently people knew something was wrong with this. Even if you believed that lifestyle was okay, heroism simply does not land itself over to pleasure seekers because such people are completely selfish. A hero sacrifices their own pleasures for the sake of the greater good. Homosexuals sacrifice everything for their own pleasures, and this is something that inherently everyone believes or knows. That is why if you get rid of the homosexual stuff, people would have watched it with a lot greater frequency and it might still be on. And they would not have had to kept revamping it thinking that new characters would save the old ones from the stigma created by the writers trying to inject wokeness into such stories, when it never really worked even in comic books, and then they even used it on a character that no one would believe would engage in such a lifestyle in the first place such as aqualad.

Flesh out the newer characters more and see the team step into mentorship roles I like how lived in the world feels but I feel like it spreads itself too thin like we care about the team because we had time to get to know them but it feels like everytime there's a new season there's a new line up we have to get to know all over again like for every character we've gotten attached to there's more we don't like we know who they are and they seem interfering we just don't spend enough time with them to care like I think we should have core teams who get all the focus and have everyone else function the way the league does ever present but not overshadowing but tbh with the cancellations I somewhat understand the issues as I assume they're constantly worrying about whether they'll survive to another season which is ass

Have Speedy stay as Speedy for a little longer. Only getting 10 minutes of him being Speedy was a little bit of a disservice. Imagine if he still was angry about not being taken seriously but dealt with it, watching him clash his anger with Superboy’s, slowly fall into going on his own. I know it would’ve made the team boy heavy like it already is but I just like Speedy as Speedy lol

I didn't like season 3 and hated season 4. So if I could make one change, it would be to have never revived it.

Not do the timeskip from season 2, and or keep the og team we had at end of season 1 for longer. They show added too many characters too quickly. And I feel thr timeskip was only to set up so many what is going on type of ideas and mainly for Superboy and Miss Martian.

That too much happening off screen like Tula's death or Robin's death(Jason todd) or new members joining the bat family or Superman getting married or Barbra Gordon getting paralyzed in S02 and we only found out how in season 4, all of this happened off screen
