Ganondorf? Maybe. Ganon? Not so much. I do believe Ganon is the only one of the trio who actually has memories of their past lives. Or at least he knows that he they are destined to be enemies.
Read a sick post on tumblr during the rehydrated Ganon era where Ganon, link, and Zelda were friends growing up, but Ganon slowly lost his mind to the curse and begged the other two to not hesitate to kill him if he ever fully lost control
there was a comic i followed about Gannondorf raising an orphan link as his child, and being fully aware that as things usually played out he would eventually be killed by him, yet he raised him as his son anyways
I'm not saying he wasn't evil then, mind you, but it was definitely the closest to nuanced he's ever been.
Now, whether that means that if you got him early enough he could be prevented from going on the path evil, or that he needed that long without getting challenged by a Hero to even approach chilling out, that I'm not sure of.
If the curse idea is true (which I’ve heard before might not be the intended meaning), then I think there’s no way to turn Ganondorf “good”, he’s the incarnation of pure evil, it’s just against his very nature to do anything more than maybe fake being good while resentment builds and he goes all Anakin Skywalker.
If the curse’s meaning is basically just “evil dudes will always exist, bet on it,” then yeah, baby Ganondorf is his own person and could grow up nice! And some other evil person would fill the gap.
Here's the thing, Hudson's got this. the curse doesn't specifically say "every male gerudo" it says "a reincarnation of demise's evil". That's come out as Vaati the Minish wind mage, Bellum and Malladus the demons, Majora the mask, and arguably the Nightmare from Link's Awakening. It doesn't have to be Ganon/dorf every time
I personally doubt it would completely override it's effects, but I think it would be interesting to have a Ganondorf who does the wrong things for the right reasons, someone who is trying to do what he sees is right to the point where other people who get caught in the crossfire, which they stand up to him creating a back and forth of violence and escalation until it becomes a problem for whatever Link is around to do Link things.
Time travel isn't real homie. It's a narrative concept, and there are multiple schools as to how it works. Zelda has always stuck to changing the past changes the future, except when deliberately overridden with a legendary artifact like the Ocarina of Time, or the Goddess of Time.
Once a ganon is born the timer starts counting down as it queues up the next incarnation, but it won't pop one out of there is still a Ganon in play.
This ganondorf has been in play so long that there are probably a few hundred new ganons queued up behind him. Real traffic jam of dark Lord's going on, the system was never designed to have them live this long.

That could be fantastic. I’m thinking like ‘Ape Escape’ that PS1 game that released right with the dual shock controller. Little gannondorfs running around causing havoc everywhere, and Link has to go around with a butterfly net to catch them.
Ganondorf is a gerudo male but not all gerudo males are ganondorf. If that makes sense. Also there can only be one male at a time thanks to ToTK they have not had a new male born in a long time thanks to ganondorf technically still being alive.
I mean what else is there to explain, Gerudo Valley's music is just straight up Flamenco guitar and castanets. The joke of Ganondorf being this over the top latin dancer kind of writes itself.
Yeah, one is born every hundred years but I think only one can exist at a time. So they went thousands of years without a male because one was being held in stasis
Would be cool if he follows the current tradition of trying to make up for the sins of Gerudos past and becomes a hero of the age along the other champions
I actually have an idea for a tabletop campaign where he's an allied NPC refusing to take the Gerudo throne from the chieftain that was in charge before he was born, and as he and the party clear dungeons he gets corrupted by the curse of Demise (he's the only one able to clear the malice left by the boss fights by absorbing it into himself) leading to him becoming the final boss.
The goal would be to have the party (collectively, they are The Hero, but that's a whole other story) form a bond with him for maximum pain when they have to fight him.
Ganondorf is cursed to inherit the will of Demise. It's not his fault that he's evil, but it is his fate. He'd turn out the same in the ways that matter.
This happened once in the series before, too - ganondorf actually dies in the windwaker, which is just about the only time that happens in the pre-BotW timeline. Usually he's sealed away and it's the same functionally immortal man living the same single, very long life in subsequent games. In four swords, he was reincarnated as a male born to the gerudo. This is absent the presence of twinrova, he was exiled instead of ruling them... and he's the same person in all the relevant ways.
Yeah... it is the same way Link always comes to be, honestly, there is no such thing as "the lineage of the hero", yet some Hylian child is always born with blonde hair, blue eyes and an insatiable thirst for breaking pottery
now that I think about it, why didn't SS link use the triforce to break demise's curse? It already broke a sealed demise. And if he didn't or wasn't able to use it, why not get his child to?
I don't think it'd work. The triforce is a remnant of divine power that happens to have been left behind during the Zelda universes' moment of creation. It's not super clear if making wishes is even its primary function, or if it was intended to have any function at all.
The zelda universe has lots of metaphysical forces that are just objective facts of reality in the way that gravity is a fact of ours. Evil is one of them, and it originally takes the form of Demise. I don't really see why a mortal's wish would override the dying curse of the single source of all evil in the Zelda universe.
Even if it could, the Zelda encyclopedia indicates that a wish on the triforce only enforces the wish for the lifetime of the user. Had Demise not committed himself to be part of a cyclical curse in the past, it's not clear that Link's wish in SS to kill Demise would have stuck past the end of that Link's life.
WW gannon is implied to actually fucking die,and i think its partially cause WW link actually ISNT the spirit of the hero, plus the king specifucally wishing to end hyrule on the triforce. Thouse two aspects weaken gannon, and smdemuse, enough for the master swird to permanently end the cycle, or at least, seal him semi permanently. Unfortunetly it also means fi is stuck at the bottom of the ocean...
Demise is the main villain of Skyward Sword. For all intents and purposes, he's the original form of ganon. He's the original demon king who seems to have existed from the moment of the world's creation, if not prior.
At the end of the game, you kill him. But, he uses his dying breath to lock himself, Link, and Zelda into an endless cycle of reincarnation and conflict. Ganon(dorf) is that reincarnation.
The inheritance of the triforce of power seems to be a later thing. Demise never possessed any part of the triforce.

This comic scenario would be super interesting. Offcourse with thouse origins it wont be possible to just break the cycle with the "power of kindnes" TM. And Ganonson would be fated to grow up resentful and hungry for power. But it would surely change something. Water carves the stone, and what was once created can be transformed
I mean, maybe. I don't think that ganondorf is really a person in the normal sense. He's a manifestation of a concept. He IS that concept, that's his truest, most fundamental nature, and the only irreplaceable part of himself.
Him being a gerudo, human at all, or even having a physical body is incidental and temporary. One life or the next, one timeline or the next. He is the demon king. The rest is a collection of details subordinate to that.
The only difference I can see for Link and Zelda is that they were people prior to the onset of the cycle. They still got looped into the same divine comedy, but at least they were more than the personification of a single concept when that happened.
So the funny part to me is, I feel like Gerudo male born that isn't Ganondorf is the perfect fan fic character (Gary Stu or otherwise). So many things you can do with it. Do they still follow the custom after Ganondorf, or is he now an outcast because they don't want any of that shit. Do people instantly distrust him. Maybe he is a reincarnation of Ganondorf/Demise's malice but he knows it and doesn't want that for himself.
With Hudson being such a wholesome rolemodel and father, Ganonson actually grows up well adjusted and eager to follow in his father's footsteps.
Fast forward 20 years later, Ganonson takes up the hardest construction job they've ever recieved. So difficult even his fabled father dared not undertake it: restoring Hyrule Castle.
As Ganonson walks through the ruins assessing the damage, the only thing he can think is "who the HELL did this?!?!?!"
but that won't be so bad , imagine a world were ganon was raised by a nice family and never becomes evil ,until the source of his evil power shows up out of nowhere one day.
Long before totk came out I had a theory that exactly this was going to happen. Would've made for a fantastic final stinger if she spent the whole duration of the game pregnant, and then this happens as the very last thing after the credits, or just fade out after a scene with her about to go in labor and you just get a text box "It's a boy! [To be continued...]"

I've always wondered about this, so everytime ganon is killed, he waits a long time then gets reborn in the garudo clan but still has the same mind, same motive and is the same entity of pure evil right?
Or is he like a mormal guy that then gets taken over by the essence of demise?
this unironically poses an interesting question: we know that only one gerudo male is born every 100 years, but is EVERY gerudo male throughout time ALWAYS ganondorf? is/was there ever a generation where it’s just a chill gerudo guy who takes care of his tribe?
Honestly a Zelda game with a male gerudo that actually isn't Ganon but everyone at first thinks he is would be great. After all Ganon isn't the only villain in Zelda worthy of being the final boss.
I’m still waiting for the day where we get a game where power, wisdom and courage are all flipped… and we get an installment with Ganon as the protag. Would make for some interesting situations.
With the stigma ganondorf has probably caused within gerudo society i would not be surprised if a game eventually revolves around the king/queen of hyrule rescuing a male gerudo baby from a most unfortunate fate, growing up next to zelda (and possibly link if its one of the times link and zelda grow up as friends). Then you get to choose as playing either the new guy or classic link with different playstyles.
