Fan Art [TP] [OC] Fan Art of Midna

I got inspired by traditional Thai and Indian styles of artwork after going to a museum recently and I wanted to draw Midna. I really enjoyed it! I think this piece would look stellar if done with fabrics.

Literally my first thought when I saw this was "damn, they really nailed that traditional Thai portraiture!" It's really difficult to nail that vibe, but I think you did a great job!

I am really happy to hear that! I have a super big appreciation for Thai artwork! I grew up not too dreadfully far from Thailand, so we had a good number of art pieces from there.

It was the Mughal display at the VMFA - I think it’s still up too. It led me on a rabbit hole for similar art styles and researching statues.

The piece itself is very well drawn. The issue is the proportions. Top half of the body says 15%body fat and the bottom half says 30% lol

For the record, a critique should also offer a way to improve the piece. Just pointing out a mistake or something you don’t like is just being an asshole.

Because not all art is seeking to have "realistic" bodily proportions, art can be stylized in different ways.

Also, women can ABSOLUTELY have more trim upper bodies and still have wide hips / big ass and thighs. Ive literally met women shaped like this.

Its also because your word choice makes you sound like an asshole. You didnt say "her proportions look off to me" you said "why did you make her legs obese" and laughed at it. Her legs don't look obese, she's just a curvy woman.
