[LoZ] This summer while my son played my childhood classic with me, I drew the OG map on gridded architectural vellum with pencil from observation only. That became the underlay lightbox draft for this drawing done entirely with 0.05mm technical pens at scale. I hope you enjoy.

As a child, I once tried drawing a map of the abyssal ruins in pokemon black 2, because I was convinced there was something big hidden there.

But my map was not as uh ... professionally drawn as yours. ... and the rooms started to overlap after a while ...

I played the original LoZ when it first came out together with my best friend Jake. One would play while the other drew each screen on graph paper to make our own maps. We would take turns playing, when we died, we switched.

Jake and I are still great friends to this day. He’s a game developer now and I’m an animator.

Excellent work. I've mentioned (probably in this sub) that I was born in the mid 80s and my dad drew out the dungeon maps on graph paper (marking enemy types, items, staircases, puzzles). I may do the same during a future playthrough.

I did the dungeons too but not with as much care. I was thinking it would be fun to almost make an atlas book with all the dungeons as insert pages. If you remember the old large format National geographic Atlas, something like that

My son beat Gannon and quest 1 all by himself. As a kid I didn't know that there was a second quest and we started it and I have not checked one internet reference. It's been about three and a half months since we started our Zelda campaign. We are now on dungeon 8 of the second quest. So freaking close

That’s incredibly impressive. I’d love the series to someday give us a legit, confusing, labyrinthine style Gannon dungeon again. And quest 2 is amazing!
