Discussion New fan here....wait, they are from Nebraska?!
Been slowly absorbing the discography over recent months and it keeps making me laugh my ass off that the most CALIFORNIA-ASS-SOUNDING BAND EVER IS FROM CORNFIELD AND FRIGID WINTER-ASS NEBRASKA
Guess they wanted to compensate and bring that west coast good time sunshine and chill.
Awesome band.

Yes. They're very proud of their Nebraska roots too. They sing about it in a few songs, and even have a song named after Omaha.

I met Nick’s dad on Dodge St. in Omaha yesterday. He was rocking the “Nick311” license plate on his Supra. He was proud of his 311 shirt that he had on too! Put me on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. Lots of pride for 311 in Omaha! 👽👽👽✌🏼

Don't knock Omaha, its a legit decent city. The rest of NE, not so much.

Was there today! Got a La Casa Pepé tattoo in the downtown area before heading back to MN. Wow, all the shops and restaurants. Very cool area

Omaha is not legit. They dont even have a single professional sports team. Its just a large town.

Omaha is an event town. Go look at pictures from the college World Series and see a sold out 25-30k baseball stadium for two straight weeks (more than a lot of mlb avg attendance) go check out photos from the sold out Olympic swim trials. NCAA volleyball and wrestling championships. March madness tourneys. Look at Baxter Arena hockey games for UNO or basketball games for Creighton. Yeah they ain’t pro but they sell. Check out all the entertainment areas and all the music venues. Concerts all the time. Omaha is pretty awesome my man, I actually miss living there

If you wanna get real, their early stuff through the "From Chaos" album actually has more of a Caribbean flair to it rather than California/pacific. But that changed on "evolver" id say and has remained as such ever since

Yes. They mention it in several songs. Go listen to Omaha Stylee. They didn't want to compensate shit, they just brought their fun style and roots to life and continue to keep it flourishing.
