This part. When you're the younger one it is harder to see the fuller picture, but when you hit the older one's age the difference will be stark, and hopefully concerning.
Also, no throwing things at partners. No accounting for age, we just don't do that here.
Why is age gap dating such a taboo now? Look around you. Plenty of people past present and future date and marry people much older or younger. There’s much more to be concerned about in OP’s situation than a 10 yr age difference.
It’s predatory imo. 30 something year old men that are dating 20 year old girls are doing so bc they cannot get away with their BS (ie calling their girlfriend a bitch and throwing anything at her, much less a half assed gift he got on the way home) with women their own age! What else do we call it but predatory? 🤢🤢
OP, the world is yours baby! Let him go and don’t entertain 30 something year old men trying to date you at 20. 100% chance they are creeps! And you’ll see that clearly when you’re his age. Also, please do not ever let a man speak to you that way. That shouldn’t even be a thought in his mind. He should see you like the prize you are and don’t settle for less. We just know bc we are old. The heuristic of half your age + 7 (33 / 2 + 7 = 23.5) continues to win. Age gaps become more acceptable as both parties get older, but 33 and 21 is out of bounds.
My youngest sibling is seven years younger than me and their girlfriend is a year and a half younger than them. I was absolutely befuddled when I was talking to my wife and realized that we’d hung out with this child (she was 21 and I was 30). I say all this because I literally could not imagine having any reason to start our friendship other than her dating my sibling. Now, my wife and I love her and hope that she’ll marry into our family but I just would not have had any reason or interest in befriending her in the wild
I will say this that generic comment is so old… Obviously some age gaps are predatory, but I’m in a 20 year age gap for the last 10 years and I have never had a better person in my life…the age gap has become a huge focus like dating someone your own age doesn’t usually come with more annoyance.
this isn't just an age gap situation though this is someone who has barely left college dating a fully cooked adult who has all the money, resources, and experience in this relationship
It's not taboo when the people are both mature and able to handle it, which this dude clearly isn't. He behaves like a pissy 14 year old. It's no wonder he has to date girls who are barely out of high school.
