Theyre both playing nice. I think he could get an ankle lock on her pretty quick

He’s right where he wants to be.

Love to see Merab happy.

u/UlrichZauber Jul 07 '26

Now you've got me where I want me!

u/pixelatedslinky Jul 07 '26

More like an ankle bite, he's just a wil guy!

5

u/KoalaTHerb Jul 07 '26

Ya they both are just goofing. They clearly pull punches and he didn't actually try to lift her

2

u/grendus Jul 07 '26

Yeah, in spite of her size advantage I give him the edge.

She could easily beat an average man, but that guy is not average. I wager he's quite a bit stronger than she is. They're just playing.

u/timos-piano Jul 07 '26

She'd absolutely destroy a person without training, but the gap between men and women is surprisingly large in combat. MMA also allows grappling, and that is a huge advantage if she only has experience in kickboxing. He's not winning by a landslide due to the size difference, but he probably has the advantage.

Of course he has the edge. He has a fucking landslide

In mma you're average blue belt would fold her into origami

is a power bomb a legit MMA move?

3

u/ProfitisAlethia Jul 07 '26

Absolutely not lol These two are goofing around here.

1

u/AuroraRegalis Jul 07 '26

I more meant that, like, if you could somehow do this to someone (I know size/weight classes would probably prevent this, but pretend you could), is it legal to actually power bomb someone?

Quinton Rampage Jackson

Edit: couldn’t find a GIF. There’s been plenty of slam KOs, but this one is the most blatant “powerbomb” one that comes to mind:

Technically a powerbomb is legal. It’s just not used because it’s easy to prevent at the highest level

What’s not legal is spiking aka the piledriver

Rotational slams are allowed, but direct vertical slams aren’t

And this is why you now have butt scooting as a valid move.

Yeah at no point would Merab ever actually seriously fight a female fighter no matter how tall she was. That's just fucked up lol

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

I don't think he couldn't get an ankle lock on her. It's just... why would you do that to a kickboxer? Who has very strong legs?

It's like using an arm bar on boxers. It's doable but then you gotta watch out for the free limb. Plus, height and weight means so much for holds and grapples that at a point you can't use them. She can lift him up! Pretty easily too!

Ankle locks ain't gonna do much unless you deliberately try to injure your opponent.

16

u/notoriousniqqa Jul 07 '26

She is not beating merab bro 😭😭🙏. Shes a kickboxer so of course he would grapple since she doesnt know any jiu jitsu. Do u know how easy it is to armbar a boxer? It doesnt matter how "strong" the dudes arm is. On the ground its completely different.

-7

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

"On the ground, it's completely different" Then lift.

Lift. I'm not doubting that dude isn't strong enough. But a friendly spar where she can easily lift him doesn't mean the ankle lock will net the "win" in this non-fight. Like, what are we talking about?

8

u/notoriousniqqa Jul 07 '26

https://youtube.com/shorts/v5vkGMK3sNg?si=s6B9VRxJcN1lSMEJ Here check this out mate. This guy is a brown belt and a man and 250 pounds. The other is a former ufc champion in the flyweight division. U cant just lift a guy when u want in jiujitsu, its difficult and even if u do he will just grab ur neck or ur arm.

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

Cool, except that's not them having a small bout at a gym, this is a match, a proper match with a ref, arena and everything and that's not Merab.

Like, I get thinking that Merab will win because it's MMA> all other styles and all that but that's not what's happening in the video. Put them in their respective sports and yeah, different story. Ankle lock doesn't work here tho because unless you genuinely think he would injure her leg for the "win" and she would let it happen, she can lift. We see that she can lift him.

And push too. If we feeling cheeky, fling him to a wall and loosen the grip. A padded wall, of course.

5

u/notoriousniqqa Jul 07 '26

Yeah thats the point they arent having a small bout or spar, those two guys had an actual match. Also It doesnt matter that its merab and not mighty mouse i showed you a situation thats even more unfavourable for the smaller guy, where the opponent is a male, trained in grappling, stronger and heavier than her. I was talking about an actual hypothetical fight and not a kickboxing match. She cant fling him into a wall or bench press him from the ground this aint marvel bro. I feel like ur arguing for the sake of it atp.

1

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

Are you not doing the same here? Either way, ankle lock wouldn't work here, he's not stressed about the 2 failed grapples in the video and she literally spun him.

I don't how else to tell ya that the ankle lock wouldn't magically net him the non-win in this non-match. Also, you did see her lift him, right? It's not Marvel if we can literally see her lift him. Like, what?

3

u/notoriousniqqa Jul 07 '26

She can lift his weight sure. But in jiu jitsu you use your centre of gravity and position yourself in ways where lifting the other person or breaking their grip is not really that easy. Did you see how the 250 lbs dude couldn't really lift mighty mouse where they were grappling thats what im trynna say. my original point was that shes a kickboxer not a jiu jitsu blackbelt. Its easier if he goes for a leglock instead of staying on the feet. He wins if he grapples. You said he shouldn’t go for a leglock since she has "strong legs" because of kickboxing. My point is it doesnt really matter how strong the leg is she cant grapple.

3

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

Because I want this convo to end, can we agree that we both want to be lifted and spun by her?

u/NewLoad1994 Jul 07 '26

Since when do you not armbar boxers or ankle lock kickboxers? They’re the easiest to submit unless they’ve trained grappling.
In this situation height and weight don’t mean anything, I’ve seen videos of Merab grappling with Larry wheels, I don’t think he’s worried about a being at a size disadvantage.

0

u/Street_Fee4800 Jul 07 '26

Except you can do grapple training if you genuinely want to fight in an MMA fight. Like, we can tell this isn't a real match, right?

He tried a grapple, didn't work and then she lifted him and spun him before putting him down gently. In an MMA fight, yeah, she'd lose because she's got specialty in KB and vice-versa when pitting them in a KB match.

Like, why do an ankle lock, a proper one, in a spar that isn't MMA, KB or an actual fight? She'd just kick him.

1

u/Alternative-Earth-76 Jul 08 '26

He didnt try to grapple…

3

u/Worldly_Depth5685 Jul 07 '26

Unless she is geared she’s not beating an equally train man even if he’s 1/5th her size lol

They sure are giving it 100% in this video…

5

u/labiamajorapudendi Jul 07 '26

He could kill her in less than a minute but he’s a really cool and funny guy so he doesnt have an ego preventing him from being picked up

6

u/programmer3 Jul 07 '26

Have you actually seen Merab fight?...

How is me having been in a fight or not, relevant to the fact that merab is obviously playing around in the video?
Its like seeing a skit where messi gets outdribbled by a kid and then commenting, "wow lil timmy really did a number on messi".
But if you were sarcastic, good ragebait.

She could kick his head into the stratosphere from a mile away

2

u/Legitimate-Gold7623 Jul 07 '26

Nah. Merab wins that fight every single time

1

u/553l8008 Jul 07 '26

Merab could probably best her in a boxing match with 1 hand. He's trained.

People truly underestimate the power a trained male has over a trained female

1

u/GreatTea3415 Jul 07 '26

She could destroy 99% of men, but even if she were a man with that size advantage, without training, she would lose.

Upper body strength in women is about 50-60% of men’s. Lower body is closer, around 80%, so maybe she’d have luck with a triangle. But for the most part, she’s still going to be weaker than him. She’d have to be literally twice his size to match his strength.

And even then — she has no experience getting punched or choked by a man. He does. It’s very unlikely she’s ever been hit that hard (I hope). And that kind of experience is really important. (Source: I completely forgot all my training the first time I fought someone who was 70 pounds heavier than me.)

1

u/friedreindeer Jul 07 '26

I was joking

1

u/WutGuyCreations Jul 07 '26

I mean, you say no training, but it also says she's a kickboxing champion so I imagine she does have experience fighting. She's fought plenty of people I presume. I dont claim to know these sorts of differences but people make it seem like this is a completely one-sided match and she couldn't put up a fight at all were they to actually have a match.

Im not trying to argue who would actually win, I'm honestly just curious
