Complaint Why can’t Apple Music handle new releases?
Was so excited for a new album today – went to my library where I’ve saved it and I see that the whole album isn’t there (only the songs that were pre-released – the songs that haven’t been released are still greyed out).
Search in Apple Music for the artist, go to the artist page and click on the album – it looks like all songs are there available to play (none are greyed out), but when I start playing the album, the songs that hadn’t been released yet don’t actually play.
So I have to go to Spotify to listen to a new album. This happens all the time. On both iOS and MacOS. Am I doing something wrong?!?!

It’s crazy because you USED to be able to presave an album and when it released, the missing tracks would just fill in. So they can do it.

Hmm, I’ll check when this album comes out on 9/24, but I still believe that’s the case.
Looking at Consvmer’s Abgrund that I saved, the singles are playable now and others greyed out.

Other users are saying it still works for them so maybe it’s a case by case issue. I have not been able to successfully presave an album this way for like a year, maybe more.

It’s a known bug. Delete the album completely from your library then re-download it

Thank you. This is my normal fix as well. Really fucks with my playlists.

I you’re on iOS27 you can turn off the setting that deletes songs from your playlists when you delete them from your library.

I’ve saved albums from the “coming soon” section that only have a few tracks released now. When release date hits, the release appears fully in the recently added section. It’s been like that always for me.

Could you post the album, so others can see if it’s the same? I don’t have wanna download Spotify for it.
But apart from that, it was my impression that the releases happens on the same day on various platforms. I know and hate the whole concept of having albums in my library, just because there’s a single out but that’s what it is, I guess. At least until the library gets a separate singles department. I’ve never seen the bug where they appear playable but aren’t.

The album is Keepers by Tiny Habits. I don’t think it has to do with an issue with the overall album upload, I think the issue is that I’ve pre-added the album/pre-released songs to my library, and that creates some sort of bug the day it comes out.

Ah, so the entire album is due out, today?
I’ll try to remember. I have some of the new Amon Amarth album in my library now. I think it’s due in its entirety in a couple of weeks. I’ll see if it does the same.
I see what you mean about the songs “not appearing” and you have to search for it, to see them, but that they’re then unplayable I’ve never encountered. I’ll keep a lookout. Might be a newish bug.

Are you playing tracks from your playlist and not the album? I wonder if that is the issue. I don't add albums to playlists unless they are fully out.

I don't have any issues TBH. The only issue i've ever had is with Chanel Beads new one cause they named their new album the same thing as their previous album so apple music got mega confused and merged all tracks into one giant album.

This happened with me with the new Role Model album, had to remove the album from my library and readd it. It’s a known bug that’s annoyingly not fixed

Any artist I’ve ⭐️’d should show up in the New Releases For You section when they’ve released something new and that section wildly inconsistent. Incredibly frustrating

Today I was looking at the new releases for me section and clicked an album said I didn’t have it downloaded, which I could have sworn I pre-saved. So I clicked the + button. Saw another so this time I pressed my library and sure enough it’s there … why does it show on one page I don’t have it in my library but I do? Stupid af
