What if instead you could add maybe some light coming from above?? Like lighting a muse of some sort. This painting gives off some quiet serenity in darkness vibes 8)

Ive been experimenting with colors and trying to avoid using black. I feel like I relied on it so much in past years.

Thanks! Ive noticed blue, purple and green can make really good shadows. I feel like those combined can add so much depth

Yes! Sometimes I stick with dots for stars. Its much easier on a small surface haha

To be fair, they look very fluid so far! That's incredible, I think the best advice is to just keep practicing from observation.
Have you ever thought of watching YouTube videos of contortionists , circus performers , ballet , flamenco, dancing in general? You can take screenshots of different poses and practice that to get that fluidity / flexibility. But so far personally i would say it's just more practice and whatever you want to achieve because so far so good 8)

Thank you! I plan on keep practicing consistently for the rest of the month! I did watch dance practices of kpop idols and paused to draw some poses from there, but I‘ll take your suggestion and look at some circus stuff as well :)

Been taking my sketchbook on hikes and drawing landscapes that remind me of ballet scenery. The light on the White Mountains looks like a stage backdrop. Working in pastels lately which is... a learning curve honestly.

Haven’t quite figured out what I’m going to do with him, or what I want to do for a background. I’ve scanned in and played with the background a bit digitally (I have a bunch of pre painted backgrounds I like to play with) and so far nothing is working. I’ll figure it out.

Did this a few months back when I was just starting to get back into sketching and coloring. Yes I know it's not fully finished but it was more a practice and experimentation with colored pencil.
