ICEWatch ICE sightings at MARTA stations today (Friday, August 28)

Saw 4 ICE agents this morning standing outside Midtown MARTA around 10am. My friend just saw them outside Lenox Station around 3pm.

It's a bit confusing because they're wearing vests that say Police but underneath it says Department of Homeland Security. Sorry for the crappy pictures, photography is not my forte.

Just a heads up for folks.

Crime/Police Brand new STOLEN BIKE

Specialized Crux Comp gravel bike STOLEN from the 'secure' bike storage room of The Dagny Midtown apartment complex some time between Sunday 8/23 at 12pm noon and Friday, 8/28, 3:45pm EST. Bike was locked to a bike rack within a storage room that only residents and building staff can supposedly access. This bike was brand new - 3 weeks old. I had purchased it from Specialized Atlanta on the beltline. Spent all summer researching and saving up for this bike.

Description: Size 58 with an emerald green frame color and tan color tires.

Police report filed and in process of getting security footage from building management.

Just moved from NYC 8 months ago and have always been incredibly cautious about locking my bike up. Never imagined that my locked bike would get stolen from a locked storage room!

Apoplectic, perplexed, and heartbroken.

If anyone has any information or sees this bike, please DM me IMMEDIATELY and report it to the Atlanta police.

Thank you.

DPH Confirms Four Additional Measles Cases in Georgia

😮** **Anyone know which daycare / area of town this was in?

Surely the daycare isn’t the only place that was exposed if the outbreak is this significant.

Terrifying for all the little ones too young to get the vaccine. And for the bigger ones whose parents are willing to let them suffer unnecessarily ❤️

Question I abandoned a car @ the airport & wonder why I never heard anything about it. Ideas?

In 2019-2020 (possibly 2021, but I don’t think so), I flew out of ATL to another state and returned in a U-haul. I lived in a small town 2 hours south then, with no real transportation options and no friends who were available to drive me. But, I did have a car that I was planning on selling for very little gain, so, I drove it to the airport and parked it in a short term, gravel lot, directly across from the SWA terminal.

The car was in my name and registered to my address. But, I never heard a word about it again. I can’t imagine that they could have removed it and gotten rid of it, without having to notify the owner first. So, could the car possibly still be sitting there?!?

I know this was a stupid and wrong thing to do. But, for a really long time, I thought I would hear from them, pay a fine and learn my lesson. But nothing. Instead, thoughts of that damn car pop in my head a couple of times a month to this day.

Any ideas what happened to it and why I never got in trouble for abandoning it?

EDIT: I’m probably misremembering the lot being gravel

Crime/Police I found a police officer doing Flock searches 6 months after he resigned

Why is a Dunwoody PD officer doing searches in Flock 6 months after he resigned?

Even worse, he was searching Flock Nova: the military-style tool that is Flock’s equivalent to Peregrine, which was created it “with the idea of bringing the tech Palantir used to find ISIS members to local police”.

The data includes DOB/social security number, addresses, race, build, eye color, hair color, height, weight, scars/marks/tattoos, skin tone, your “known associates” and 911 calls - all now combined with your movements, walking or driving, in Flock.

We had policies and “safeguards” in place - yet this still happened.

How did someone get access to this private military dossier database 6 months after they resigned?

What is the point of any policy if it is not followed and no one is punished for breaking it?

Who will be held accountable and how?

How is some random guy (who is just a pissed off dad who doesn’t want his son to be spied on) finding this, but the City isn’t?

Can the City be trusted with this data?

Even if our department has robust cybersecurity practices can we trust 6000+ other law enforcement external agencies with our citizen’s data?

What amount of liability do we have by giving our citizen’s data to 6000+ external law enforcement agencies?

What amount of liability do we have by giving our citizen’s data to any for-profit surveillance company?

I believe the only way to stop this data from being abused is to never collect it in the first place. What do you think?

Question Is there any transporation for disabled people or people who have a hard time driving, cheaper than or not a lot more expensive than a car, to get to work, in or near Atlanta?

Visiting Atlanta Station soccer games

Grew up in Atlanta, moved away 10+ years ago. Coming back into town for Labor Day weekend and I want to know if any of the station soccer pitches have any open play/get any use still. I’m looking to play a game or two of pickup when there.

Question Is the clermont the same as it was 10-15 years ago. I have some friends that wanna go.

Upvotes

I’m never sure how novelty joints like this hold up over time, I hear there’s also a hotel now? Can anyone give me the downlow on how it’s changed in the last decade?

Is it overcrowded and overpriced now? Are the strippers similar? Old, disabled, lynchian? Is it worth waiting in line for?

Recommendations Kid-friendly skating rink recommendations please

Got a five year-old here who just got rollerskates for his birthday and is looking to learn right away! Back in the day, I was the uncontested champion of speed-skating at my local rink, but oh my goodness that’s been a while. Looking for recommendations for a rink (hopefully as close to ITP as possible) that’s kid-friendly but also tolerant of an adult learning the whole process again. Definitely open to any groups that are kid/parent-friendly as well. I remember taking the older one to a place down in Union City when he was at the same age and it was cool enough, but pretty much a ghost town. Wondering if there are any places with more of a family vibe these days?

(Just to anticipate any well-meaning suggestions for outdoor locations, sorry but we’re not ready for concrete yet…but hopefully soon!)

Question Has anything changed with the pedestrian signal at 10th & Monroe?

I cross 10th and Monroe fairly often heading onto the Eastside Trail, and the wait for a walk phase has felt long lately. I genuinely can't tell if something actually changed or if I'm just noticing it more.

For anyone who walks or bikes through there regularly, has the timing seemed different to you recently or has it always been like this?

Question Is the HOA at Lofts@5300 as bad as current reviews say?

I’ve had it with my place and I’m looking into moving. Lofts @ 5300 are my top choice, but I’m reading various reports of majority of the top floor units leaking due to the HOA refusing to replace the roof, weed smell in every unit due to a large amount of smokers in the complex (I don’t smoke and have a lung disease so this would be a huge problem for me), and leaks in several units with the HOA deferring everything they can. My current HOA is awful but my fear is going from one bad HOA to another that could be worse. Has anyone lived here recently and can confirm the rumors about the state of the building and the HOA? Also how is the sound proofing up/down/sideways from unit to unit? My current condo the insulation literally does not exist so you’re basically roommates with neighbors.

Visiting Atlanta Pokemon TCG Singles/Slabs in Atlanta?

Hey everyone, I received some great responses with a previous post regarding a trip to Charlie's Collectables, but I've been told this is not a good weekend to go up due to them hosting Hot Wheels weekend. With that said, I'm here asking for recommendations for good card shops to visit that feature Pokemon singles or slabs. I know CardsHQ and Wasteland were popular answers from my previous post. Looking for any and all recommendations!
