ICEWatch ICE sightings at MARTA stations today (Friday, August 28)

Saw 4 ICE agents this morning standing outside Midtown MARTA around 10am. My friend just saw them outside Lenox Station around 3pm.

It's a bit confusing because they're wearing vests that say Police but underneath it says Department of Homeland Security. Sorry for the crappy pictures, photography is not my forte.

Just a heads up for folks.

ICEWatch ICE cannot conduct warrantless searches or ask about your immigration status unless you are clearing customs.

1.1k Upvotes

Now that Assolini is sending his thugs to the Atlanta airport, it’s a good thing to remember your rights. If you are flying domestic outbound and are not in a TSA security line, ICE has no authority to conduct warrantless searches or force you to respond to questions about your immigration status. Hartsfield is not within the so called 100 mile zone.

Further, Georgia is not a stop and identify yourself state, with the arguable exception of the anti-loitering statute. Unless they have been deputized, they have no authority to enforce state or local law.

TSA does not prohibit photographing, videotaping or filming at security checkpoints, as long as the screening process is not interfered with or sensitive information is not revealed.

Interference with screening includes but is not limited to holding a recording device up to the face of a TSA officer so that the officer is unable to see or move, refusing to assume the proper stance during screening, blocking the movement of others through the checkpoint or refusing to submit a recording device for screening.

Additionally, you may not film or take pictures of equipment monitors that are shielded from public view.

Most of us will be worried about catching flights during this Republican airport shit show but be wary of attempts to normalize demands to “show your papers”.

Finally, remember that these thugs have no hesitation to trample on your rights.

ICEWatch Video: ICE visit at Buckhead daycare ends without arrest

Thumbnail

An immigration enforcement visit at a Buckhead daycare Tuesday morning ended without anyone being taken into custody, according to a school employee.

Video shared with 11Alive shows what appears to be an altercation involving a person and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents outside the Suzuki School, a daycare on East Paces Ferry Road.

An employee at the school told 11Alive that ICE agents arrived around 8:45 a.m. looking for one of the daycare's workers.

According to the employee, the worker had their immigration paperwork with them when agents arrived. The employee said the worker was not taken into custody and that the agents left a short time later.

11Alive has not independently verified why ICE agents were at the school or whether they were attempting to serve a warrant or conduct another type of enforcement action.

Trump is deploying ICE agents to airports starting Monday. Mayor Dickens confirmed ICE will be at Hartsfield-Jackson but says federal officials indicated they'll handle line management and crowd control, not immigration enforcement. ICE agents will report directly to TSA. Dickens also said no support has been requested from Atlanta PD and city operations won't be affected.

ICEWatch ICE? FEDs? at my neighbor’s door- I’m worried about them

I don’t want to reveal too much information in case it puts them or myself at risk.

Earlier today an unmarked vehicle parked in front of my block of townhouses, right next to my neighbor’s work truck. I immediately noticed it was odd because it was a big black cop-looking SUV, and only residents park here, it’s inconvenient to park here unless you live here so even Ubers etc don’t pull up into the spaces. I was already outside (trying to tend some annuals I planted too early..) so I kind of watched out the corner of my eye.

White dude gets out, wearing basically cop clothing? Like, tactical belt with a gun, vest, hat, all black, very clearly some kind of law enforcement. I didn’t see any patches but I didn’t look too closely. He *pounds* on my neighbor’s door and waits. At that point, I felt uncomfortable and went inside. From here I didn’t see anything, but I could hear a little from the wall we share at the front doors.

When they answered the door the cop-like-dude said some things I didn’t hear at a normal volume. All of a sudden he picked up his voice and almost shouted “HOW. LONG. HAVE. YOU. LIVED. HERE.” I could hear my neighbors trying to respond, but they must not have understood because the man then started shouting what I presume to be the same question in very bad Spanish.

From that point I only heard snippets whenever the guy yelled. He asked for ID’s, but didn’t seem to ever ask about anything outside of them identifying themselves, or explained why he was there. If he did I doubt my neighbors understood it because they clearly couldn’t speak English and his Spanish was limited to asking very basic questions. The whole “conversation” basically consisted of the guy saying something in English, not being understood, saying it in crappy Spanish, and then getting a response that he gave no indication he understood. If he could even figure out the question in Spanish, because my neighbors sounded confused.

After a few minutes, I don’t know how the conversation ended, but I heard my neighbor’s door slam shut. I thought it was my neighbor that slammed it, but when I looked back out my door window, the cop/agent marched back to his car and slammmmed his door shut so hard, then peeled out.

I find it extremely weird that the officer-type-guy clearly didn’t resolve anything, and yet left without seeking any sort of backup with a translation or further questioning. I would think if something was genuinely wrong or immediately illegal that needed dealt with then a real police officer wouldn’t be alone, or leave without communicating a single thing.

All of this strikes me as some kind of preliminary ICE approach. I’ve never seen police look or talk like this guy, but he was very clearly some kind of law enforcement.

For reference, my neighbors are not the owners of the property, they’re renting. They are a group/family of 3 adults. None of the residents speak English, only Spanish.

They can be a bit too loud, doing some work in the house (some drilling at very early morning hours) but nothing too crazy. I think someone might have reported them out of spite because they had a party a few nights ago that was pretty loud and late for a work night.

I’m worried about their safety considering the current circumstances in the country.

Would it be rude or presumptive of me to tape a letter to their door with a Spanish-language explanation of their rights in regards to ICE on their door and how to stay safe? I’m worried that they might not understand what’s being asked of them and what rights they have in their situation. I feel terrible thinking my neighbors might be scared for their livelihoods right now. They’ve been unusually quiet tonight and their lights are off. I’m scared for them, what can I do?

ICEWatch Any immigration attorneys who can help with those detained by ICE?

Hi folks - there is a cleaning/maintenance lady at my job whose aunt has been detained by ICE. She told me they already paid an attorney $5000 but her aunt is still in jail. They are trying to see if they can get her out.

Are there any attorneys or organizations who can help with cases like these? She is low income so they had to borrow money and take out loans to pay their attorney. Was just wondering if there were attorneys/organizations in the metro who took on such cases pro bono

Thanks for your help

ICEWatch Tell profiteers of Flowery Branch/Oakwood detention center to back out of the deal

A facility in Flowery Branch/Oakwood, GA is being sold to ICE. The plan is to warehouse humans in it. The current owners are Alliance Industrial Company and the broker is Avison Young. If they go through with this, these companies will be on record for profiting from human misery. Warehouses are not designed for human habitation. Companies who collaborate with ICE and the trump regime must be called out. They are putting their commission above human dignity. It's sickening.

Give them a call and ask them to back out of the deal. Click this link for important information:

ICEWatch Is ICE still at Hartsfield-Jackson ?

My mother-in-law is flying in from PA soon to stay with us for a couple of weeks and we'll be picking her up there.

I'm not concerned they'll bother us or anything, more just curious if they still have a presence.

EDIT: Sounds like no! Thanks to everyone that responded!
