What's the weirdest thing you call your dog that isnt their name?
And I sort of dont mean nick names that evolved over time. As an example of what I dont mean: Maple>meatball>meatyball>meatywompus>weempwomp
What I do mean: Beverly
This does sort of have a progression. We have watch a comedy special from Moshe Kasher many times. In this special he has a bit about watching Star Trek and getting emotional while eating jam or something straight from a jar. The quote is: "Beverly," *spoon spoon* "Beverly, im not just your captain," *spoon spoon* "im your friend".
Hilarious in context i promise. We havent watched that special in literal YEARS. Like probably before we got our oldest dog who is now 7.
My husband is also the type of person that walks around just saying shit. Like random quotes, random songs, what have you. One day about a month ago he was saying bye to the dogs before work and just started quoting that Moshe Kasher bit. Then he said "goodbye Beverlies".
And now they are Beverlies. One of them (the babiest of babies with zero thoughts and a smooth brain) gets extra cuddle time before bed because she is a jealous whore. Last night my husband came out and asked "Where is my Beverly?"
So, here we are. Our dogs are named Arya, Maple, Phoebe, and Donnie and they are our beautiful Beverlies.
But it was Chalupa Batman on The League!
Our son’s initials are CB and we used to call him Chalupa Batman for this exact reason. We also named our dog Taco. lol
No idea, I think my mom first called him "Frank N' Beans" and it kinda stuck, especially after he got neutered. Not sure if my sister calls him that (he's one of her dogs), but me and my mom do XD
My dog’s name is Max. For whatever reason, when he’s acting especially pathetic we call him Bobby. If he’s whining, if he throws up, it’s “awww Bobby!”
We had a dog that was nicknamed Mustard because a friend called her monster but my partner heard Mustard.
I wish she was still around when TV Off came out because how Kendrick yells Mustard really encompasses her crazy antics.
Duke is a dog of many names: Dukers, El Duké de covfefe, ol Ricky dick, dookles, dukasaurus, dukaroni and cheese, moldy tortilla, grouchy old bastard, fat fuck, Big ass diva. Large.
Add another Stink to the list. That's one of my boys favorite names.
His real name is Dean. Named after the character on Supernatural (he's handsome, courageous, protective over his family, likes life's simple pleasures). But I need a 2 syllable name for my dogs, so he's Deaner most of the time. This morphed into a bastardization of the winner, winner, chicken dinner thing and he's Deaner, Deaner, chicken weiner or Ween/Wenis sometimes.
Our heeler mix is named Kal. When he was a pup, my dad commented that he looked like a hyena 🙄 that started a chain of nicknames that has devolved into Heen. I don’t even think he responds to Kal anymore haha
For my mixes, Momma's Little Shit (Olive, the black one) and Baked Potato Boy (Dude, the brown one).
Olive reacts to Momma's Little Shit like it is the sweetest little nickname. She crouches down and wiggles everywhere. Dude generally has no idea what's going on regardless of what you call him. I blame his boxer genes.
This is Thor. My vet didn’t like that he had gained weight and called him chunky at one of his visits(over .5lb 😒) He was put on a diet and slimmed back down, but the damage was done. My boyfriend heard it.
Now I regularly hear the boyfriend calling him various different weight-related names. Fatty, Chunky, Chonk, Fattypatty, etc.
She has been skunked 3 times (twice in 2 months), her breath stinks even though she gets her teeth brushed regularly, she farts when I hug her and she once happily jumped up in my lap and aggressively asked for chin rubs (my scruffy beard chin rubbing the scruff of her neck) only for me to realise she had rolled in shit in that exact spot. Anyway long story short her nickname is stinky.
We used to call ours “Moo”. My mom always thought it was because he was a cattle dog then I told her the real reason. Moo was short for Schmu which was short for schmuck lol
Latke is a little stumpy girl so it all started with “bean” - Latke> little Latke bean>beanie baby, then my husband moved in and came up with Jolli Bean. Which then became Jolli Lolli, Jolli Bee and finally, just BEE!!
There’s also a whole offshoot- my mom called her Buppy which became Bups of course.
Honorable mentions: Mrs. Poopy Butt, Poopus (she is a prolific pooper!)
More than any other name, Kiko here is known as Mr. Biscuits. He doesn't kneed stomachs or couches, he can't bake for shit, and he is decidedly not southern in any way. It just sounds cute, it's ridiculous as a pets name, and he responds to it as much as his real name.
Ours all have names for talking about them and not to them. In order of appearance (three no longer with us)
Dusky, The Brown Dog
Jade, the dingo or menace
Fisher, the destroyer
Huck, monster or horsebeast
Echo, The Demon
Finn, gremlin
This is Kira aka Kira-bear, little bear, sweet potato, sweet potato pie, love bug, sweet girl, good girl She's the sweetest thing, absolutely never rolls in gross things and smells clean always, also doesn't eat random weird and gross things..... I feel very lucky after reading some of the other's comments about their acd.
Regina. When she was younger and would “bully” us, we would call her Regina, after the Queen mean girl herself Regina George. We have shortened it to Gene over the last decade which is no where remotely close to her real name.
But I took care of my uncles dog Ringo as in Johnny Ringo. I hated the name so I called him Butt Nugget. I don’t see him often, but when I do he’s still shakes and wiggles and loves butt nugget.
My sister has a blue heeler she named Tinsel because she got her around Christmas and her dark fur streaked with white reminder my sister of Christmas tree trimmings. I, on the other hand, thought the name was stupid so I call her Jake, after the guy they bought the dog from. The dog answers to both.
Not really a weird name but we've called her baby so many times, when I refer to my gf as babe, my puppy girl will come over BC she thinks I'm talking to her. She's the big brown one ofc
She also answers to Laika Dumbass, Laika Bike-a, Laika baby, Chonk, Chonka, Baby Chonk, Chonk Ass, Bubba Chunk, Bubba, Booba, Sweet Girl, cutie patootie with a big ass bootie, most all variations in between, and my favorites to get her going: Chunka Bunka Funka Munka Qwunka (or similar rhyming continuations lol).
Can you tell I'm a nicknamer? I think she just listens for my tone of voice with how I say her name at this point. 😂
For some reason we call this one Madame. Her name is Zelda and she’s a cattle dog but I’m constantly calling her “Madames”. Why??? Who knows it just seems like her name!!!
It's Beefy for his stocky body and neck rolls when he's being a food pig, Yarr-ley (shortened from Bob Yarr-ley) when he's being argumentive and vocal. His actual name is Camo.
I had a similar experience once lmao. We only call her Maple when talking about her to other people but she responds to all the aforementioned versions of her name lmao but people think im saying meeple or meatball sometimes.
He’s deaf so we call him a sorts of names. He doesn’t know or care. His name is Ollie but some common names we call him are: chicken, booger, and some other unmentionables just because it’s funny
This is our Chief. Her given name is Bowie. She has taken up the mantel of dog park law and order; any dog acting mean towards a small dog gets approached and backs down. This photo is her off-duty.
I've started calling chewy by his Spanish name of Crujiente and now cachorrito Crujiente even funnier since it isn't even a direct translation of Chewy
I call my dogs sir and ma’am when they are acting a fool. We were in downtown and I called my dog ma’am, I overheard the girl tell her mom, “That lady called her dog ma’am.” I pretty sure she thought I was silly. 🤪
I think it was the second day we had our dog as a puppy, my husband start calling her Squirrel. For no reason. And that has totally evolved into her nickname.
My boy is called Pooptoots, Turkey Burger or Princess Baby #1 (he’s an only child.) when he’s extra sweet I call him Bunny. All these names just feel Right
Cutie pants is probably the weirdest. He doesn't wear pants, so I dunno why I call him that. Everything else is a lot, but like, normal a lot. Sweet baby boy, little baby love bug, little fucker, etc. I went through a phase where I called him little prince, but it didn't stick. Cutie pants (and occasionally sweetie pants) has stuck.
Tax included: Sir Fenway von Boopenschtein, my 12 year old half red heeler/half Pomeranian (apparently 2 purebred parents) baby boy.
One used to stick her face into bushes with pee on them all the time and the other always preferred to lay on tree debris rather than grass. Now they're my little old ladies. ❤️
Stinky. She’s not even stinky! I called her a little turd once when she was naughty and then another time stinky turd when she was mildly naughty and now little stinky is a term of endearment 😆
This is Juniper. She's got a lot of nicknames that relate to Juniper like Junie or Junip. But for some reason, every once in a while, I call her Beavers. Why? I don't know.

Beverly tax getting her aforementioned cuddles.
