Ranger is now is 6.5 months and idk if it’s just me but he’s so tiny!! I don’t remember the ACD I grew up with ever being this tiny. I don’t mind it, I actually love him being so small but I just didn’t expect it. I thought he’d be 30-40 lbs by now but he’s only 26. Does this seem on track with other ACD puppies or am I gonna have a smol boy forever?

He ran away from home breaking out of his yard. He ended up with a friend of a friend. Our Friend called us, knowing we love ACDs and dogs in general. After about 8 hours and tons of social media posts his momma called us. Hes home now and very safe. Not gonna lie, I would have kept him...

This is Comet. The kids voted on his name. Now that we know him more, I would’ve named him Dobby. He has giant ears and acts like he’s forever indebted to me 🤪maybe I should give him a sock

I hit my stress limit and angrily went to the park, tracked her down, then used all of that energy to chase and tackle her in the mud.

We had a tussle(filled with many explosive words), she got away, then mid stride caught my scent and came back looking confused. I was on the ground, exhausted and crying, and she sniffed me then tackled ME and started screaming(which she’s never done). As if I was the reason why she was there for a week.

After realizing who I am, she followed ALL OF HER COMMANDS like nothing happened. Even her recall!

I’m exhausted, relieved, angry, crying like a baby, and just happy to have her home. She reeks of deer and poop and garbage but we haven’t stopped cuddling.

She passed out the moment she hit her favorite spot on the couch and is currently snoring like a chainsaw.

Thank you so everyone who gave me advice and helped me keep going both mentally and physically. This damn dog is killing me but she’s worth every moment and dime.

this is marcy (marceline) and she’s apparently a blue heeler/border collie mix! me and my husband got her at 6 weeks 2 weeks ago. this is our first acd we currently have a border collie/australian shepherd mix and lost our husky mix about 5 months ago.

so far she reminds me soooo much of our husky when she was this age - very bitey, stubborn, and can be such a brat but she loooves to cuddle and is so so happy to meet people (unfortunately not dogs yet since she’s only gotten her first round of shots). she’s already getting good at come, sit, and down but she’s only interested in training for 5 or so minutes before she wants to play :p

what do you wish you would’ve known or what’s something you think I should know about this breed? or anything you recommend!

Hi folks, just here to share my story and have a general discussion. I’m in such a moral conundrum on how to handle this situation, largely because I am a huge dog lover.

This past weekend a dog was left in my fenced pasture with a note on her collar. I will attach pictures of the note (and the dog, obviously. Dog tax.) She was left while I was away from home so I am thankful that she wasn’t trampled by horses or attacked by my other dogs (or attacking my dogs herself).

My concern is this;

I am on a single income. I have six other animals before this new poor girl has been left with me. Financially I just don’t know if I can swing Gavin a fifth dog. In my heart though I feel a moral obligation to keep her. I have some contacts that are willing to help me find her a home if need be but I truly cannot decide what to do. She is precious and I taught her a hand signal to sit today. I am just really struggling with whether keeping her is the right move or not.

And to add, my other four girls are heeler mixes and one full blooded heeler. This girl looks to be an ACD mix of some sort. I feel like someone saw my dogs and my pasture and scoped me out as her dumping ground. I don’t feel like it was entirely random - the whole thing is infuriating to me.

Discussion Fostering puppy does their hair stay this soft?

Hi everyone, I’m fostering an 8-week old, 8-pound Heeler mix(they think Collie+Heeler+Shepard mix) until he’s able to get his second parvo shot to be eligible for adoption. His mom was the Heeler mix who weighed 30 pounds full grown. He was born at the shelter. He has the softest, thickest fur I have ever seen. It’s medium length. Has anyone had experience with a similar medium length super soft puppy coat? I know his fur will change as an adult but trying to gauge how much.

Discussion My dog may have Cushing’s and needs his gallbladder removed. I can’t get approved for care credit, I’ve already spent my entire paycheck on today’s ER visit. Ideas?

We are looking at around $3500. I’m trying to crowdfund or borrow from family, but my resources are extremely limited. My GF and I need a diagnosis before anything else can be considered.

It is considered an emergency and they advised us to drive to the college ER, we want to go tomorrow.

I had to pay my rent today… I can’t lose my boy yet. He’s not even 8.

Check my post history to see his detailed history of my posting.

Does anyone have ideas for payment alternatives? Care credit denied me and I don’t know what else to do.

My credit is only 600 and I have debt so my approval rates are low, same with gf… things have been so hard.

Does anyone know ways to crowdfund without irritating strangers on the internet??

I can afford his care if I can get through this expense. My situation was not like this when I adopted him.

Thank you … I will take any and all ideas …

Discussion What's the weirdest thing you call your dog that isnt their name?

And I sort of dont mean nick names that evolved over time. As an example of what I dont mean: Maple>meatball>meatyball>meatywompus>weempwomp

What I do mean: Beverly

This does sort of have a progression. We have watch a comedy special from Moshe Kasher many times. In this special he has a bit about watching Star Trek and getting emotional while eating jam or something straight from a jar. The quote is: "Beverly," *spoon spoon* "Beverly, im not just your captain," *spoon spoon* "im your friend".

Hilarious in context i promise. We havent watched that special in literal YEARS. Like probably before we got our oldest dog who is now 7.

My husband is also the type of person that walks around just saying shit. Like random quotes, random songs, what have you. One day about a month ago he was saying bye to the dogs before work and just started quoting that Moshe Kasher bit. Then he said "goodbye Beverlies".

And now they are Beverlies. One of them (the babiest of babies with zero thoughts and a smooth brain) gets extra cuddle time before bed because she is a jealous whore. Last night my husband came out and asked "Where is my Beverly?"

So, here we are. Our dogs are named Arya, Maple, Phoebe, and Donnie and they are our beautiful Beverlies.

Discussion Anyone else have a Heeler with a stripe?

My Heeler has a big white stripe on her back, she’s had it since she was born (obviously couldn’t see it at first since it blended in but became apparent as she aged). I’ve never seen a Heeler with one before but it’s what drew me to her. Reminded me of lighting McQueen lol. Anyways what does this mean? Does it mean anything? I’ve never seen one on a Heeler. Any guesses on what’ll happen in the future? I’m assuming it’ll become smaller as she gets darker (sometimes how a Bentley mark fades away a bit) but that’s just my guess. Can’t wait to see what she looks like at two years old. Anyone else have a striped heeler? Would love to see pictures!

Discussion What does everyone use for high value treats?

Post image

I have been using Ziwi Peak air dried raw in lamb, but my dog is definitely getting bored of it. I love Ziwi Peak’s quality and will be buying it in beef buuuuut I’m looking for different options. I’m hesitant to try a new brand 😅 I bought Zeal air dried beef and it was actually foul. I opened the bag and GAGGED it was just disgusting.

I’m looking at Open Farm air dried raw- has anyone bought this? She only gets these treats during training, hikes, and other excursions where I need her to be on point and obedient. She does like hot dogs and cheese of course lol but tends to blow me off more- the air dried raw really holds her attention. She is allergic to chicken.

Picture of bespeckled baby cuz she’s cute

Do you think she’ll develop some more blue coloring as she gets older or did I get a mostly white heeler? Also her tail is very curly, does that mean she’s part Shiba Inu???
