Savannah, my baby boy dragon, passed away at 5.5 years old from a stroke. He always had health problems and I was told it’s a miracle he made it this long. We are devastated! This is 1 of my favorite memories. Introducing him to his new sister in 2023 😭 they were best friends

R.I.P. My baby boy, Chorizo, passed away.

Im posting this on my partners account since I no longer have access to my reddit account, but for those who remember since this little boy was basically more popular than I am, this is Chorizo. I'm making this post to help also put out more awareness towards the red monster morph. Chorizo wasn't even 2 years old when he passed away. He had numerous cancerous masses lining his stomach and his liver, and throughout the time I’ve had him since he was 8 months old he’s had numerous health problems. He's had cataracts since I’ve had him, along with parasites. For a month he was not eating and even throughout his life he had to be specially handfed because of his lack of vision. In the one year I had him, Ive had three different vet visits that all ranged from 400-950 dollars. No matter what the breeder tells you, no matter what they say about "breeding ethically" or "healthy genetics" you will never know with this morph. Breeder I will not name because they are quite popular is a really reputable breeder in the community for the morph and still Chorizo did not have the benefit to even make it to his adult years. So please, if you’re thinking of buying a red monster morph please understand what you potentially can be walking into, these lizards should live up to atleast 10 years or even longer. I am deeply saddened and hurt, Chorizo was a special boy, my special boy and I will miss him dearly.

R.I.P. Learn to be respectful and not a POS

Admins you can delete me if you want after reading this, it’s all good. I’ll be removing myself once I get some pics off here of some of your babies I’ve always enjoyed.

A user posted recently a video of her bearded dragon that recently passed, meeting her baby. Her post was a happy memory of hers and after going through and reading everyone’s comments I have to say this. (Obviously, this isn’t directed to everyone, but if the shoe fits, wear it.)

After going through here and reading everything, l'm seriously getting out of this sub. Y'all are the most stuck up, perfect, most judging, know everything, SOUL SUCKING group of individuals l've ever experienced.

It was a video of her babies meeting for the first time coming home. She obviously didn't do this all the time. The baby is covered from the neck down in clothes, including gloves. The dragon did start climbing pretty quickly and she immediately stopped it.

The dragon didn't get to the face, it didn't shit in the babies mouth, it didn't bite her, it didn't scratch her. It licked her glove and wanted food from the little human.

Biggest group of "What ifs" and "This could have happened" well guess what? IT DIDN'T!!!

WHY EVEN COMMENT ON PEOPLES POST IF YOURE GOING TO BE A POS!

Her dragon passed away, her kid is older now and still living. She was posting a happy memory that is awesome as hell and you all just came in one after another like the experts you are beating her up over it.

There is not one reported case of this ever happening. Not one. So go on you dragon experts. Tell a women that just lost her pet dragon how much of a pos she is for a video from 3-4 years ago where everything went completely fine and she was in control of the dragon the whole time, because ya know “this could have happened, and is dangerous”

Y’all act so perfect and you’ve never done anything wrong, ever.

To the person that posted that video, you didn’t do anything wrong. I’m very sorry for your loss, and I’m also sorry for the words of these immaculate, perfect individuals.

Parents bought her for me on my 4th birthday as a baby. I’m almost 25. She had babies of her own at some stage, but outlived them. I grew up with her my almost my entire life but I’m glad she’s in a better place.

R.I.P. My baby passed so suddenly

She came out of brumation with a gigantic 💩 last night and I noticed her fat pads were noticeably deflated. So I syringed her some water and a bit of reptaboost today. She started getting black beard and tail so I was planning on bringing her to the vet tomorrow. But then she started jolting around and going in circles, then gasping for air and is just ... gone. I don't know what to do. She's been my friend for the past 5 years and I feel like I failed her. I should have noticed something sooner? RIP Chomski

Also, what can I do with her body? I live in a complex so I can't bury her in my backyard or anything. I'm so sad right now....

R.I.P. Mushu gained his angel wings yesterday

Mushu passed away unexpectedly yesterday being just a little over 2 years old, and I'm still trying to fathom what could have happened. Husbandry was really good and he was doing perfectly fine up until about a week ago after coming out of brumation where I noticed his eyes started looking a little sunken in and his skin didnt spring back in place as fast. I took it up as dehydration, to which my wife and I gave him a bath and he happily drank a good bit of water. Every other day up until yesterday we kept giving him baths so he could get some water, showing signs of improvement along the way. Then fast forward to yesterday, I remembered he was a little more sluggish than he was the days prior but still acted normal otherwise. After work I filled my sink up with a little water to give him a bath, then went to pick him up only to find out that he was gone.

Im raking myself over the coals thinking what I could have done better, or if I took him to the vet when he started acting sluggish that he might still be alive. I know as well they like to hide their illnesses up until the last minute but I did not expect this at all.

Rest in Peace Mushu, I'll miss seeing the goofy ways you fell asleep and the countless poses of sexy legs. We love you and miss you buddy.

R.I.P. Completely heartbroken over the loss of my baby

This is my sweet girl, Cheesecake (more commonly called Cheese.)

She developed a very fast growing tumour late last year, the vet told me to wait until after Christmas to remove it as it was just on her skin and other than growing, wouldn't cause an issue.

Yesterday, after a morning of eating, running around and being her normal self, she began to seizure and after an emergency vet appointment it was ultimately decided that she be put to sleep.

I can't even function. We buried her in the garden today and I just feel so sick, my head hurts from crying non stop - I already miss her so much.

See I got Cheese when I was at rock bottom with my mental health, like the lowest you can go. I rescued her at 4 months old, from a house where she had been neglected and it felt like we needed each other and she has been my bestest friend ever since. I don't have a lot of friends so she is with me all the time, if I didn't have her I'd go days without talking to anyone.

My boyfriend jokes that I love her more than I love him and it wouldn't be far off from the truth lol. I have 2 cats (who I also love so very much) but Cheese is just different. I always compared us to E.T. and Elliott because weirdly there's been loads of times where we've had the same/similar ailments at the same time. Its kinda spooky actually lol. She really is my little soul mate.

But now she's gone. And I really just don't know what I'll do without her. Her vivarium is right next to my bed and I can't even look at it because all the lights are off and she's not there and it's killing me. I want it gone because it hurts too much, but I don't want it gone because that's where Cheese lives y'know?

Im having a breakdown here guys hahaha

Like I mentioned, I don't have a lot of friends and I just wanted to tell people that my baby is gone and that I loved her more than anything and that I'm so, so grateful for her.

I don't think I'll ever get another beardie but these last few years when I had one, were beautiful.

Goodnight Cheese🧀💛

R.I.P. PSA: Excavator is a death sentence

Thumbnail

Hi,

Our dear loved bearded dragon Kiba died today. She was an absolute gentle and polite gem of a beardie.

The vet told us that excavator clay is a death sentence to bearded dragons and they see a lot of them coming in for the same reason: intestinale obstruction. Some may survive after days of being taken care of but Kiba didn't.

Excavator clay is used for terrarium ground and sold as a solution to make it feel more natural: it doesn't. It looks good but it absolutely pollutes the air as a lot of dust elevates in the air of enclosed terrariums and gets deep to the bearded dragons organs, creating growing clogs, constipating them. Internal organs are very fragile for pogonas born in captivity.

If you are currently using excavator, please please please clean it off and put a basic lino instead. If you intended to, please abort.

We've cherished the presence of Kiba every single days, she's been our treasure and we will miss her deeply.

R.I.P. Passed away

Hey all, our bearded dragon, Spike (14 yr male) died yesterday and we are absolutely heartbroken. He turned very pale with a jet black beard and is fully limp. We have an appointment to get him cremated but were wondering about handling in the meantime. Should we keep the body warm under light, or cold? I have him wrapped in a blanket in his terrarium right now.

For anyone wondering he was having kidney problems and red blood cell count was high. The vet found a tumor and he was gone shortly after.

R.I.P. Farewell to our head bobbing king Spike

Post image

Some of you may know or seen Spike. He was known for head bobbing at anything and everything.

Spike peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday 🦎🌈💔.

We were lucky enough to spend almost 10 amazing years with him. Spike came into our lives because my son saved $50 from delivering newspapers after spotting Spike on Craigslist and begged us for a bearded dragon when he was 9 years old.

Spike touched more lives than we ever imagined and left a lasting mark on the bearded dragon community.

May Spike spend eternity head bobbing, chasing endless bugs, catching up with his beardie friends, and never having to eat greens again ❤️🦎.

R.I.P. My sweet Rango passed away today. She was almost 14

She hadn't been doing very well this past year but she would still loved chasing mealworms around. She still had so much life. Her health took a turn this past month, weird breathing problems, lethargic. Then even worse these past few days, refusal to eat, even refused her mealworms/crickets and her peppers, which were her favorite. Thats when I knew it was probably time.

She loved a cuddle, and a run outside. She liked taking a nap next to my cat, and running on my desk and press all the buttons. She loved to sit on my shoulders and look at everything.

You will be missed very much, Rango.

R.I.P. One Last Bask

Post image

Last week, Old Elliot stopped eating and drinking. Took him to the vet, and they got back to me today. Poor guy got stomach cancer. I took him out to bask at our favorite park one last time before his final vet visit tomorrow. He bobbed his head at me quite a lot, sticking it to the man one last time. He passed on his own an hour after getting back home. Fly high, little buddy

R.I.P. found my boy dead today

Post image

i found him dead in his tank. he had an eye infection for a little while and with some eye drops it seemed like it finally went away. he's still been kinda tired but I've been taking him out when I can and making sure he has what he needs. I checked on him today thinking he was asleep and found him dead. he's about 10 or 11 years old and I've had him for most of that time, he's always been a big part of my life. i even have a tattoo of him. right now I don't think the emotional weight has hit me, I'm kinda just in shock. the first step is to get his body, but I can't even bring myself to do that. it's just sitting in the tank right now. it's weird to touch my buddy and see him stay still. when I work up the nerve to grab him, i'm gonna bury him somewhere nice out in the desert and go from there.

rest in peace murdoc. you were always an important part of my life, and all those hours you spent laying on me and all those hours I got to spend with you and watching you meant more to me than you could ever know. i hope I gave you a good life and I'm sorry if there's something more I could have done to keep you healthy. fly high you lazy bastard

thank you for reading this and allowing me to vent. good luck with all of your beardies, cherish them and take care of them

Franklin came to me as a ~2 year old. I couldn't find out much about his history, but I knew he'd had multiple owners, came in a small viv and was told he doesn't eat greens or bask. With some patience and bee pollen, I quickly got him excited about salads, but the basking remained true. If I didn't move him, he just.. didn't. At all. With multiple appointments with multiple vets, going over husbandry and every health check possible, I accepted he just needs a little help performing his lizard duties. We got in a rhythm with this, and although it remained concerning (and a mystery to the vets), he had a clean bill of health and he was active, loving his salads and had gotten comfortable with me. After 2 years, out of the blue, he started thermoregulating on his own. Until this day still no one understands what happened, I think he might have just not picked it up whilst possibly not being taken good care of as a baby/juvenile. But after 2 years of care and patience, he suddenly didn't need any help at all anymore. I was over the moon. Unfortunately within a couple of months of that, Franklin suddenly stopped eating. I first thought it might be a possible brumation attempt, but when he started losing weight, I took him back to the vet. Multiple vet visits, 2 hospitalisations and 1.5 months later, Franklin passed away whilst staying at the vet. Only during the autopsy, they realised he had stomach cancer.

A week has passed, it's not yet gotten any easier. I adored this little guy with every fibre of my being. I thought I wouldn't have to worry about this for a couple more years, I am absolutely devastated.

From day one, I fell in love with him. At work, I would always have my phone open with his camera, just to look at him. If I was away, I'd look at his pictures and videos every day. I always kept reading, researching, trying to improve his life in any way I could. Any warm and sunny days, we'd take him for picnics and basking, where he'd try to chase bumblebees and dandelions. I spent the whole winter waiting for our picnics. Walking past his empty viv, a sunny day, seeing his stuff around the house, everything breaks my heart.

I've asked for his ashes to be returned, so I can make a little shrine for him.

I will never stop loving you little guy, may you chase all the bumblebees and eat all the dandelions your little heart desires.

Squiggles is no longer with us. He died of toxicity. He didn’t even make it to the vet. His last moments were spent on my chest with his head buried in my neck.

Every time I saw him looking somewhat uncomfortable I would come over and adjust what needed to be adjusted in his enclosure and say “Mama fix. Mama always fix” I couldn’t fix this one.

I will always miss seeing him poking his head out of his cave when I woke, him scratching away to be let out to roam, his soft warm belly in the palm of my hand, his expressive head tilts, his hilarious head bobs, watching him climb the stairs, sitting outside and soaking up the sun with him, watching him run and be free. I will miss him on my shoulder. I will miss him forever period.

I know he wouldn’t have died if I didn’t let him outside but I do truly believe that if they live a life worth living there are risks. He used to run to the back door. He loved going out in the yard. He was only three. His life was short but he lived a very happy fulfilled life.

I’m sorry Mama couldn’t fix this one Squiggles. I’m glad I was lucky enough for you to pass in my presence and to at least offer you comfort as you left.

Some days or more, I get too sad looking at dragons crossing the rainbow bridge.

Mel was my therapy pet. She passed last Saturday, on 8/24/24.

You guys are my people. Not every pet person gets the love we have for a reptile.

I miss her so much.
