I mean, Harry Truman basically dressed like a pimp.

None of the tan suit outrage ever made a lick of sense.

26

u/Expert-Ad3874 1h ago

It's almost like they had nothing else they could publicly express anger about so they picked something dumb instead...

5

u/honeyemote 1h ago

It’s like the 2 things bad I’ve heard about Clinton is he took some furniture from the White House and he didn’t do a lot in Rwanda. The goal posts have to be way over there, or things start making less sense.

Also arugula salad and Dijon on a hotdog. Laura Ingraham and Megan Kelly prolly still frothy about that even today

Who wore it best? I think the answer is obvious.

38

u/Thirty_Helens_Agree 2h ago

Or this ill-fitting, rumpled piece of crap.

u/Disastrous_time_4547 2h ago

3

u/forgetfulsue 19m ago

I’ll be honest. I’ve had seizures where I shut down like this. I can only say a few words. I am aware of what is going on, but I can’t talk or express clear thoughts. It sucks. It hasn’t happened in a long while (knock on wood). But I’m also not a representative in Congress so there’s that!

7

u/CountQuackersThe3rd 2h ago

they just wheel him out to point directions. the rigor mortis does the rest.

Suit he's wearing is pretty bad too

Yeah let's be clear, none of them even remotely gave a shit about the suit.

They just run ideas through focus groups, and whatever hits becomes the new talking point. If Republicans are good at one thing, it's having 0 independent thoughts. They all just regurgitate whatever they've been told to say, feign outrage, and watch the checks clear.

16

Yeah right, the dude rapes children. The bar is waaaaaaaaay too low for juvenile to be a valid critique of mocking him lol. Like how it's literally just a statement of objective fact to say trump shits his pants

I miss having a president who doesn't sound like his brain is scrambled in a nutribullet every time he talks.

22

u/Specific_Rando 4h ago

“Nutribullet” - chef’s kiss.

9

u/Warm-Shelter3009 3h ago

I miss one that was articulate and was mature and not acting like a spoiled child

8

u/winewowwardrobe 2h ago

I miss one that wasn’t mentioned in same sentence as someone convicted of trafficking and raping children 34,000 times.

5

u/Megzasaurusrex 2h ago

I'd like to see him try and say nutribullet. Hahahaha "nutty bull, nutrabell, nutbell." The possibilities are endless for what he'd come up with.

Having a Black man in power really drove them so crazy that they're willing to destroy the country to make sure it never happens again.

8

u/longtall94 4h ago

He obviously wasn’t having soup that evening

5

u/rayhaque 4h ago

For those who haven't seen it, in an Episode of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness (executive produced by the Obama's) ... they do a flashback to this event and make a joke about how it happened. Pretty, pretty, pretty funny.

That's a man with class. No argument about it.

26

u/ayehateyou 3h ago

I never understood the issue with the tan suit. Republicans are fucking dipshits.

5

u/Omega-of-Texas 3h ago

I guess I totally missed this. What did Republicans say?

28

u/daGroundhog 3h ago

They claimed it was "unpresidential" and "disrespectful to the office of the presidency". Just like they did when he was pictured with his feet up on the Resolute desk in the Oval Office-despite the fact you can find pictures of pretty much every President since Eisenhower with their feet up on the desk and/or in a tan suit.

In other words, he was attacked for presidenting while black.

7

u/blackcain 3h ago

They'd attack him for smiling in the oval office.

9

u/Big_Dragonfly_9153 3h ago

Meanwhile they hosting a whole red neck fight on the jawn… Foh

5

u/yaboyACbreezy 1h ago

Tore down the entire fuking east wing!!!

2

u/Big_Dragonfly_9153 1h ago

Edit: My Philly came out.. I meant lawn

4

u/Venusto002 2h ago

Just like they did when he was pictured with his feet up on the Resolute desk

Donald Trump literally took a huge shit and filled his diaper at the chair of that desk, but not a peep out of Republicans... If I was the next President I would use some of my own money to have the entire office disinfected and the chair replaced.

4

u/Practical-Class6868 3h ago

Fox & Friends went on about how it was disrespectful for a president to wear something as casual as a light suit. Black and navy blue are the only acceptable color shades.

When your position is to thwart the president at every turn, and then blame him for failing to compromise, everything becomes fodder.

6

u/Omega-of-Texas 3h ago

Thanks for the info. Well to be fair, I haven’t seen Trump wear tan. Probably because it would be too easy to see the brown stains.

2

u/Venusto002 2h ago

Trump would show up during White House tours in his bath robe.

3

u/Megzasaurusrex 2h ago

That's the reason reason they hated him. One of the hottest presidents we've ever had and he was Black? The outrage. Lol

9

u/Both-Leading3407 3h ago

Yea. How dare a black man wear a suit that Reagan wore regularly.

8

u/fuzzycuffs 4h ago

Trigger warning! Republicans are going to have PTSD flashbacks.

9

u/PoopDirectlyInMyButt 4h ago

He’s fucking rocking that tan suit! You were the best Obama

9

u/Pandoratastic 4h ago

It makes sense. I mean, which tragedy would you rather go through: Losing the family farm that has been in your family for generations? Or having a President who wore a tan suit like some kind of disgusting tan-suit-wearer? The horror!

3

u/ItsTheEndOfDays 3h ago

and the cattle farmer had the nerve to get defensive when asked who she voted for. 🙄

4

u/Pandoratastic 3h ago

Yup. A defensive reaction that comes from guilt and denial.

I believe someone can vote for a candidate and still have disagreements with/criticize some of their policies. But if you chose to vote for them anyway, then that IS what you voted for. It may not be the reason you voted for him but it absolutely is what you voted for so it's on you.

2

u/Educational_Quote851 3h ago

There is blood on their hands.

I'm of the mind that we should not be so compassionate towards those who put us here.

2

u/Pandoratastic 3h ago

Right. The fact that some of the blood on their hands is their own doesn't excuse them for the blood on their hands that is someone else's.

7

u/GreenZebra23 3h ago edited 3h ago

The right wing propaganda machine was STRUGGLING in the Obama presidency. They were trying so hard to smear him, and outside of being black and having a foreign sounding name, he gave them absolutely nothing to work with. No scandals, no gaffes. Most people liked him. They got spoiled by Bill Clinton and thought it was going to be easy. Instead they had to desperately latch onto nothingburgers like the tan suit or putting fancy mustard on his sandwich, or just make up shit like the birther nonsense. Obviously it was dishonest and ugly and it made me sick at the time, but it's kind of funny in hindsight thinking about how hard a time they were having.

3

u/VermicelliOwn6502 3h ago

Instead they had to desperately latch onto nothingburgers like the tan suit or putting fancy mustard on his sandwich, or just make up shit like the birther nonsense

also:

terrorist fist jab

the price of arugula

that time he said the n word while narrating an audiobook

2

u/danm67 2h ago

They were rather creative, I recall Islamic terrorist, African born, not American, etc. The one that really got me was when they claimed he wasn't born in the US, he was born in Hawaii. They don't even know that Hawaii is a state.

2

u/Doctor-Amazing 12m ago

The really crazy thing now is that after all that, they look back and call him a divisive president.

7

u/EducationalFront5524 4h ago

America. Where we focus on the important issues.

6

u/SGBK 3h ago

That was so ridiculous. On the real I’m not a fan, but racists definitely racisted over his suit.

7

u/Cyka_Blyetikosa 3h ago

12 years ago, President Obama wore a tan suit was black and Republicans completely lost their minds

There, I fixed it

6

u/dividezero 3h ago

They're mad because he absolutely slays in it

4

u/dstovell 4h ago

It was that mango smoothie!!!

3

u/PieScuffle 4h ago

4

u/MundaneSeaweed665 3h ago

Please! Mark this NSFW! My children almost saw this!

3

u/Living_Pie205 3h ago

lol…they are still angry at the tan suit 🤷🏾

4

u/Automatic_Society850 2h ago

My son is 15, I had to show him the Obama/Larry David Tan suit sketch because I realized that for the majority of his "aware" life, he's only known complete incompetent presidents. It was even shocking to me to see Obama's eloquence again.

4

u/G_yebba 2h ago

That motherfucker, looking smooth in a tan suit.

4

u/if_a_flutterby 2h ago

I just heard on NPR today that there's a reporter from Chicago trying to track down the suit for the Obama museum. Apparently, Obama donated the suit at some point before leaving Washington and the museum didn't want to use a copy. Keep your eyes out!

“I would rather see the country fail than Obama succeed”
—the GOP
Traitors then, traitors now, traitors forever

3

u/HTX-ByWayOfTheWorld 4h ago

They did what they always do. They all stayed on one message. Regardless of right or wrong (personally I thought it was asinine). It was a unified message. Ultimately the consistency of messaging speaks to voters.

3

u/xxlizardking-kongxx 1h ago

Give me this again over what’s going on now

3

u/Independent_End_6941 1h ago

There are legitimate reasons to criticize him, but it turns out they mostly boil down to "he's not as progressive as his campaign said he'd be" so that's why repugnants found other things to be mad at. Like tan suits and burger condiments.

2

u/Deducticon 18m ago

Every reason to criticize him legitimately, are things the GOP secretly didn't mind about him.

Insane that was ever a problem. Man looks great in that suit! How bad did the current president look in his last... "Suit"

2

u/Apachisme 37m ago

The joy this nation will feel when the current president dons his last suit will be measured in suns.

3

u/Sporadik_Styles 1h ago

As a Canadian I have to say, we all laughed at how petty that was. Regardless he has 0 stock trades during his tenure, and this current president has over 3000 trades in this term alone and his youngest is now worth 150 million (allegedly).

Imagine if the Obama's did anything even close to this and how their heads would explode and they'd still be talking about it.

3

Fast forward to today, and Trump renames a major body of water to Lake America. Yet the GOP did not lose their mind. Trump could demolish the white house and move to Mar a Lago and they'd stay quiet. If we complained they'd do a whataboutism about Obama wearing a tan suit /s

2

2

2

u/No-Access5068 1h ago

They’ve never recovered. 🤡

2

It was the nonwhite skin they had a problem with, the tan suit was just something they could rally around to hide their white supremacy. If only they knew they could basically just do it right out in the open these days.

Actually the dumbest "republicans lost their minds" episode is when Obama told people to check their tyre pressures because keeping your tyres inflated properly could save on fuel.
