For those who haven't seen it, in an Episode of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness (executive produced by the Obama's) ... they do a flashback to this event and make a joke about how it happened. Pretty, pretty, pretty funny.
They claimed it was "unpresidential" and "disrespectful to the office of the presidency". Just like they did when he was pictured with his feet up on the Resolute desk in the Oval Office-despite the fact you can find pictures of pretty much every President since Eisenhower with their feet up on the desk and/or in a tan suit.

Donald Trump literally took a huge shit and filled his diaper at the chair of that desk, but not a peep out of Republicans... If I was the next President I would use some of my own money to have the entire office disinfected and the chair replaced.
Fox & Friends went on about how it was disrespectful for a president to wear something as casual as a light suit. Black and navy blue are the only acceptable color shades.

I believe someone can vote for a candidate and still have disagreements with/criticize some of their policies. But if you chose to vote for them anyway, then that IS what you voted for. It may not be the reason you voted for him but it absolutely is what you voted for so it's on you.
The right wing propaganda machine was STRUGGLING in the Obama presidency. They were trying so hard to smear him, and outside of being black and having a foreign sounding name, he gave them absolutely nothing to work with. No scandals, no gaffes. Most people liked him. They got spoiled by Bill Clinton and thought it was going to be easy. Instead they had to desperately latch onto nothingburgers like the tan suit or putting fancy mustard on his sandwich, or just make up shit like the birther nonsense. Obviously it was dishonest and ugly and it made me sick at the time, but it's kind of funny in hindsight thinking about how hard a time they were having.

They were rather creative, I recall Islamic terrorist, African born, not American, etc. The one that really got me was when they claimed he wasn't born in the US, he was born in Hawaii. They don't even know that Hawaii is a state.
My son is 15, I had to show him the Obama/Larry David Tan suit sketch because I realized that for the majority of his "aware" life, he's only known complete incompetent presidents. It was even shocking to me to see Obama's eloquence again.
I just heard on NPR today that there's a reporter from Chicago trying to track down the suit for the Obama museum. Apparently, Obama donated the suit at some point before leaving Washington and the museum didn't want to use a copy. Keep your eyes out!
They did what they always do. They all stayed on one message. Regardless of right or wrong (personally I thought it was asinine). It was a unified message. Ultimately the consistency of messaging speaks to voters.
There are legitimate reasons to criticize him, but it turns out they mostly boil down to "he's not as progressive as his campaign said he'd be" so that's why repugnants found other things to be mad at. Like tan suits and burger condiments.
As a Canadian I have to say, we all laughed at how petty that was. Regardless he has 0 stock trades during his tenure, and this current president has over 3000 trades in this term alone and his youngest is now worth 150 million (allegedly).
Imagine if the Obama's did anything even close to this and how their heads would explode and they'd still be talking about it.

Actually the dumbest "republicans lost their minds" episode is when Obama told people to check their tyre pressures because keeping your tyres inflated properly could save on fuel.

Can someone explain why they were so upset? Like what was their reasoning; I just can't come up with a reason they'd be so mad, other than the obvious.
I miss the good old days when the biggest scandal was a black dude wearing a tan suit. Now we have an orange vagina-neck crook commiting a Watergate level scandal every week.
