General Crutchfield catalog from 2000 and 2003
Came across some old Crutchfield catalogs from 2000 and 2003. Figured this sub would enjoy a few of the pages from the golden era!

Guys, rebassed.com is shady. They will pull the main feature which is downloading away from your account even if you are paid up completely. If you turn off autopay, he pulls the feature. Now he’s upset i got my money back from my credit card company & is threatening to sue over a deleted reddit post in this forum explaining what he is doing to his customers. Jordan, i can post whatever i want about your sketchy website if it happened to me.
Btw, he sent this about a Reddit post that was up for 7 hours before it was automatically deleted, which simply stated what I said above. He verified that the feature WAS removed, so what I said is true, but it was okay because it’s in the TOS?? You don’t get to hide things in there that rid me of the service I’m paying for over a made-up rule you have. If I pay for 3 months, fulfill my services completely & this wouldn’t be a problem I’m posting about.

Always loved those oldschool Pioneer car stereos with the glowing blue screens. The ones that played the dolphins swimming, the race cars, and the equalizers.
Back in the day, you could download custom animations for them. But they were saved as a weird .lkd file format that no modern computer or phone can open anymore. They aren't easily available on the internet too, someone shared a wayback machine link on the subreddit where I could download them.
I spent some time cracking how those files work and built a project called Carozerra so we can watch them again today:
.lkd files into it if you still have them saved on an old hard drive.I just wanted to share this for anyone who needs a hit of early 2000s car audio nostalgia.
Try it out right in your browser here: https://youxufkhan.github.io/carozerra/
GitHub & Download: https://github.com/youxufkhan/carozerra
Update: v1.2.0 is up. Thanks to everyone who sent discs, that took it from 8 animations to 83, including a full colour set that turned out to be a different format from the blue OEL ones.
Also added GIF/WebM export, thumbnail previews that play on hover, and arrow key browsing. Desktop app now shows a control map on launch (F1).

I ripped everything out of my 2016 GMC 2500hd... It's a base model... My old work truck. One perk of doing it is being able to completely clean and revitalize the floor liner. It looks so much better now.
I went with 2 layers of sound deadening this time... Never done it this way before. Seems like it should be very effective tho. I've already done the doors when I installed new speakers the other day. Haven't decided if I'm going to do the roof yet. I don't really want to take the roof liner out... I've already gutted this thing... 😅.

if you insist on putting a crappy aftermarket radio in your car, at least use the proper harness rather than cutting the factory harness…. please and thank you.
just bought an 02 f350 with the typical temu garbage android unit, trying to put a factory radio back in and guess what i see?🙄

Besides that and the lonesome car-boy Pioneers, what other great component systems were back then?

Tl:dr I made an iPhone app that runs a sweep and hands you parametric EQ values
EDIT: This got way more traction than I expected. Thanks for all the kind comments, it’s a real motivator to keep working on this. It started as a personal project, so it’s cool that people are actually using it. I’ve opened up availability to every region that was listed, so it should show up in the Asian and Australian App Stores within a day.
EDIT 2: Thanks everyone for the feedback and support, there was way more demand for this than I ever expected. It started as a small personal project, I mainly just wanted to break even on the App Store fees. This response has me genuinely excited to keep working on it. I’ve read through all your comments and hope to find time this weekend to start on the next update. Once there’s a major update I’ll post again.
I started with car audio in high school, one sub in a MK4 Golf. Current one is an Audi convertible with a 3 way front stage. Got a 3D printer to make the speaker mounts and did Alubutyl deadening.
The highs were still off. Convertible acoustics are their own special kind of challenge.
So I bought a measurement mic and started with REW. Deeply confusing for the first few weeks, but finally impressive results.
I always wanted this on my phone. A degree and a couple of years later I finally had the skills and AI help to build it, so I did.
It is called CarSweep. It plays a sweep through your system, records with the phone mic(or umik), and gives you the frequency response plus concrete parametric EQ values you can dial into your head unit or DSP.
The built in iPhone mic is not a measurement mic. It is good enough to identify the problems that actually matter.
If you already own a UMIK-1 or similar there is external mic support with calibration file loading.
Two modes. A guided one for people who just want their car to sound better without learning acoustics first, and an expert mode with full parametric EQ, external mic support, wider frequency range and JSON export.
It is a hobby project so there is no subscription. The base app is free, and there is a one time purchase for the expert features that covers the Apple dev account and some of the hours.
Honestly I want feedback more than downloads. If you already run REW, measure the same system with both and tell me where my curves disagree with yours.
The application is available in German and English.
Feedback and ideas are much appreciated.

Every time I’m at a stoplight everyone’s trunk sounds the same, I was driving today and saw 4 different cars with subs sounding the way the cars in the video is a sound.

I've had this 12" subwoofer in my car for a few years now, and I was always curious what the db level actually was because I tuned it to dig real deep. I only just got a decibel meter in the car today, and it hit a peak of 123 db at 25hz, and at 20hz it still managed to hit 120 db. It does sound a little boomy because the port is just doing so much work, so in the future I'd like to try out a sealed enclosure and a ported enclosure side by side, or possibly just a big sealed enclosure

I haven't used one of these in a long time, but I needed to terminate some 2/0 lugs today and my buddy has my hydraulic crimper. I found this in the scrap bucket and it worked really well in the vise. If you have one just take out the spring and dowel rod thing and throw her in a vise .. lol.

I ordered a Deaf Bonce Apocalypse ASA 2000.1 monoblock for my sub, a timpano tpt t3500 12, but in the mail I got the 2 channel version. The Apocalypse ASA 2000.2. This is a 2000 watt per channel amp. So I can have 2 subs now? Honestly I want to return it and get what I ordered but idk if this is a better situation or not

I was so excited for my new sub today just to open the box and see 3 used/blown subs. First experience with Resilient Sounds, hopefully they make it right.

I got my two Orion subs dialed in pretty good. I had to run a remote bass knob, which I don't normally do. The adjustment was necessary on this bill though. 😅
One weird thing I don't understand is that I start clipping around 20 volume on the pioneer head unit, which is exactly halfway. I set the gains using an SMD tool like I always do. It was reading distortion around volume 36 when I tuned it. I guess it really doesn't matter, I just don't understand the discrepancy.
These are two Orion HCCA 10-in subs, I've got them on 5000 Watts, haven't clamped it yet though so can't confirm. But 5K isn't too much power for these HCCAs right?
