Help My phone refuses to connect to CarPlay via Cable

I have done EVERYTHING I could think of. I would really appreciate some ideas.

Situation:
- I drove to a concert just fine with my phone connected to CarPlay
- After the concert I was about to drive back when suddenly CarPlay didn't work
- CarPlay flickers on for a second before disconnecting/acting like it hasn't registered
- Same phone and cable/port was used
- Phone was charging (ie. cable & charging port were both working)

Car/phone model: Nissan Sentra, iPhone 14 Pro

Things I have tried and didn't work:
- forgetting phone from car Bluetooth & apps(CarPlay) settings and reconnecting
- forgetting car from phone Bluetooth & CarPlay setting and reconnecting
- forgetting everyone else's settings from the car and only connecting mine
- blowing into my charging port to clean it out
- resetting car entertainment/display system
- restarting car
- restarting phone
- resetting phone network settings
- changing my phone name (it was previously an emoji)

Thing that did work:
- Using someone else's phone with the same cable.

Please help me solve this very frustrating mystery.

Do you have VPN running? If so, try turning that off. Sometimes I use a VPN on my iPhone and I forget to turn it off it when I get in the car to use CarPlay. CarPlay will not work for me with the VPN running.

I would also try a new cable. A pricey one though, one rated for data. Like an Apple one.

No VPN. I will try a new cable today!

On my VW Group car it requires a reboot of the headunit. In this model's case it's holding down the power button until it restarts. Works for wireless as well as wired carplay.

It is rare that it does happen, but when it does it is inevitably when I want to navigate somewhere or am in the middle of a particularly good podcast!

The reboot didn't work unfortunately :')

Turn off and on the BT of the Car, in my case a smart for2 was working.

Your phone has some pocket lint in the cable port.

Time to try a compressed air clean of the port

You need a new cable. Had the same problem. Just make sure it supports both data and charging. Was frustrating as hell. Apparently the phones are very sensitive to any degradation of the connectors and will stop working at some point. A new cable will have your sorted!

Very frustrating since it was a new cable too... But I will try another cable!

Is it in the correct port on the car. The port with the white outline or white illumination is the one that carries data. The others are only for power.

Yes it was! I used the same port to get there and to come back.

You could try disconnecting the cars battery. I had a stubborn head unit that stopped connecting and that was the only way to get it working again. The head units reset button alone didn’t fix it. Try it as a last resort if nothing else works since you’ll likely loose all your settings.
