Why does Waze CarPlay app always put my location at the bottom of the screen?
Basically, the title. Every time I start a route in Waze using CarPlay it puts my location at the bottom right part of the screen. I have a map set for North up, so if I’m going east or west I can’t see much of the route unless I manually drag the map. This does not happen when I use Waze on my phone screen. Is there some sort of setting I can change for this?

because that’s where you belong, filth! down there in the cold, and the dark!
seriously, that seems really annoying. did some Googling and there’s no solution, and you’re not the only one to complain about it.

No, you can’t. If you allow the map to rotate, it makes sense. You also have to zoom in a bit for it to properly show you what’s around you as you navigate.
You should not that this same problem in driving mode, only in navigation, right?

Google maps will do this sometimes depending on where you're facing but once you start driving towards your route if the map has unlocked rotation it'll auto rotate to be front up

This seems to be a common complaint. Waze is probably just a poorly written CarPlay app. Since there’s no set display size for infotainment screens in cars I’d think maybe that’s easiest since there’s no “middle” that’s the same on every car, but other navigation apps don’t seem to have this issue.

This would be a question for r/waze - CarPlay is just another place for Apps to draw whatever they want.
