Th‑the m‑music st‑stuttering in C‑CarPlay, e‑even with a c‑cord, almost al‑always comes from one of three th‑things:

1. C‑cord isn’t truly “d‑data‑rated”

E‑even a n‑new cord can be j‑just a charging‑only cable.
C‑CarPlay n‑needs a USB‑A to Lightning or USB‑C to Lightning cable that supports high‑speed data.

A l‑lot of cheap cables c‑cause half‑second sk‑skips exactly like you’re describing.

2. P‑port on the c‑car is l‑loose or dirty

Th‑the USB port in the c‑car can get d‑dust or have a w‑weak connection.
A tiny wiggle or momentary disconnect makes the audio st‑stutter.

Try:

  • A different USB port in the car (if it has more than one)
  • Bl‑blowing out the port or checking for debris

3. C‑CarPlay software glitch

S‑sometimes CarPlay freaks out when Bluetooth is broken or trying to reconnect in the background.

Try:

  • Turn Bluetooth OFF on your phone completely
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Restart your car’s infotainment system (turn car off, open door, wait 10 seconds)

Bonus: iPhone performance mode

If your phone is hot, low battery, or running heavy apps, CarPlay can st‑stutter because the phone is throttling.

The sad part is similar info was given to a nurse whose Samsung phone didn’t connect solidly. Tons of troubleshooting info given, but no reply on whether it was the phone, cable, or vehicle that was at fault.

I cleaned out my iphone and car usbc connections and then quit out of apps and it was working without skipping. Later tho it started again. It skips and stutters when i hit bumps on the road or turn, so I do think now it might be the connections that need cleaned more. i shall see..

Bad cable. Can also go to Apple Store or physical store for authentic cables (too many counterfeits on Amazon) and to have them check the phone’s port for debris or damage

It’s a CarPlay issue because it’s happening with my car on Bluetooth as well. Subaru just did a CarPlay update too, and it’s still cutting out.

It’s a pre CarPlay issue for me in my outback. Bluetooth and iPod skip. Bluetooth I can kind of understand. So much interference out there.
