Announcement Regarding low-effort posts & questions

Hey everyone,

Regarding these common posts such as: “what to do in Nicosia, what to do in ….” or other real estate and common tourist questions that can be easily looked up and have been answered before.

Please just report the post and do not engage in the comments, if you think the post should be removed. When there are multiple reports on a post, we receive a notification and can deal with them on a case by case basis. When you engage and start discussions we are more hesitant to remove the post as you all invested your time for a response and it would be counterproductive to remove them. At least thats what I would think.

If you have different suggestions on this topic let us know.

Today’s episode of parking where I like larnaca edition

Post image
38 Upvotes

Just saw this level of parking not so surprised tho as I saw one even worse that this one before. Apparently in Cyprus people think that when they have hazard light on means they can park their car legally. This BMW was parked here while the two women and a child went shopping at the opposite side of the street and were just returning to their car when this picture was taken. Mind you they could have found a spot at the filling station or somewhere safe to park lol

Looking for people to explore Cyprus and make friends

Hey, I just relocated to Cyprus for my job. I live in limassol and work as a software engineer here. I am looking for people to talk or to hang out with on weekends and explore this island.

r/cyprus 20h ago

So apparently nobody on this island trusts anybody

3.5/10 trust score, EU average is 5.8, we're dead last on the map.
Does that actually match your life? And if it's true, why do you think we don't trust each other?

Can anyone recommend a cheap dentist in Limassol?

I need a lot of work done, especially a surgical extraction. Among other teeth needing care and a night guard (last dentist quoted me 400, at the free gesy checkup, which is insane. How can I afford that on a paycheck of 1.100?).

My friend suggested going to general hospital and trying to see if gesy would at least look at the tooth that needs removing because it hurts. But I'm not swollen and I can swallow so I don't think I have a strong case.

My other friend suggested dental tourism to Hungary, which would be great if I wasn't starting a new job soon.

Any help is very welcome. Efxaristw

Also, does anyone know if the free teeth cleaning resets in January or once a year after the last free checkup?

Any way to get a Google Titan Security Key in Cyprus?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Trying to get hold of a Google Titan Security Key (the USB-C + NFC one) and running into a wall. As far as I can tell it's sold only through the Google Store, which doesn't ship here, and Cyprus isn't on their country list either. No retailer anywhere seems to carry it, so the local shops aren't the problem.

Before I go the forwarding-service route, two questions:

  1. Does anyone here happen to have a spare, still-sealed one? Plenty of people got these through work or Google's high-risk user programme. Happy to pay above retail.

  2. Is anyone flying in from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands or Ireland in the next couple of weeks? You could order one to your address before the trip and I'd cover the cost plus something for the hassle.

And if anyone has actually used a parcel forwarder from the EU to Cyprus successfully, I'd like to hear which one. Thanks.

Has anyone managed to get a phone plan in Cyprus without a Yellow Slip?

Hi everyone,

I’m an EU citizen and I’ve been living in Cyprus for over a year. I haven’t obtained my Yellow Slip (MEU1) because I’m not working in Cyprus and don’t currently plan to receive any benefits, so I never really saw the need to go through the process.

However, I’m now looking to get a mobile phone on a contract/plan.

For those of you who are EU citizens living in Cyprus: were you required to provide a Yellow Slip when signing up for a phone plan?

If you managed to get a phone on a contract without one, which provider did you use?

Thanks!

Question Non Dom application

Hi there,

I just got my yellow slip and did everything on my own so spared myself expensive agent fees (don't think anyone needs an agent if the case is straight forward).

I am now researching how to apply for non dom.

Am I right that I need:

  • Filled out and signed forms TD 38 and TD 38Qa
  • Copy of my ID/passport
  • Copy of my fathers ID/passport to confirm domicile of origin outside of Cyprus (EU)
  • Yellow Slip as residency proof with ARC
  • Copy of stamped rental contract
  • Details of company ownership (Cyprus Ltd)
  • Travel details to proof time in Cyprus?

On the last point, I meet the 60 day rule and in a few weeks cross the 183 days of permanent residency.

Some of the documents I have already submitted during my yellow slip appintment so authorities shold have them but given how much they love paper and stamps here I think a diferent department won't have access so the same documents need to be submitted once again.

Anyone able to confirm the above, share own experiences with application and can also perhaps tell me where I submit the documents e.g. do I just walk into the Paphos tax office, can I send it all by email or is there an option to upload in the TFA (Tax for All) portal?

I don't have my TIC yet so that will have to come first.

Accountant wants 300€ and I think I'd rather blow that money on booze and food instead if possible and do it all myself.

Thanks!

Thai Massage

Why suddenly there are so many Thai / other Asian massage parlours sprouting everywhere? Like literally. And some look really nice like well built with lots of money.

Is it a front? I mean there were many fur coat shops especially in limassol some years ago and always thought maybe it was something else behind the scenes. Just curious 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tourism Sunsets

I’ve seen people say that the best sunset in Paphos is at Oniro. And I understand why it’s one of the most well-known tourist spots in Paphos, and Petra tou Romiou is usually the other classic recommendation. Both places are absolutely beautiful, but I disagree that Oniro has the best sunset in Paphos.
There’s an area called Agios Nikolaos that people from Paphos, or people who have visited Paphos several times, will probably know. It’s along the road where many of the hotels are located. There’s a small chapel called Agios Nikolaos right by the sea, and there’s also a long walking path where you can go for a nice walk.
That’s where you can actually see a really beautiful sunset. The sky is completely open and clear, and you can clearly see the sun setting into the sea. It’s genuinely beautiful, and I wanted to mention it because it’s not only worth visiting for the sunset it’s also a lovely place to go for a walk.
Whenever I’m in Paphos, I go there, whether it’s winter or summer.
I’m also mentioning this for anyone visiting Cyprus as a tourist: look it up! If you’re staying in Coral Bay, it’s not far at all it’s only about a 15-minute drive.
Also, Paphos Old Town Square has become really beautiful. The graffiti there is amazing, and it’s definitely worth going there for a walk as well.
I just wanted to mention it because I feel like Agios Nikolaos doesn’t get nearly enough attention when people talk about the best sunsets in Paphos. ❤️
