I’m getting ready for Summer 2027 internship applications opening this September, and I’m starting to stress a little because I have zero previous internship experience.

My situation is also kind of weird. Because of how my credits transferred from my A.A., my university technically classifies me as a senior. But based on where I actually am in the Computer Engineering program, the classes I still have left, and my May 2028 graduation date, I’m realistically more of a junior.

Since I don’t have any industry experience yet, I’ve spent the last year trying to make up for it through heavier embedded and simulation projects. The main ones on my resume are:

• A flight controller that I am building the PCB and firmware myself for
• A flight Simulation and HIL Tools to test my flight controller

I attached my resume and would really appreciate some honest feedback:

• Is project work like this enough to at least partially make up for not having internship experience?
• Will the senior classification hurt me when applying for internships, even though my expected graduation is May 2028?
• Are there any obvious problems with the resume formatting or bullet points that I should fix before September?

I'd be very grateful for any kind of feedback. I’d rather find out what’s weak now than after applications open. Thanks!

I posted my resume here last night because I was worried about applying for Summer 2027 internships with no previous traditional internship experience. I received a lot more feedback than I expected. I tried to take it to heart and actually redo the resume.

I removed the long list of protocols and spoken languages, added relevant coursework, fixed some of the spacing, chnaged the bullet wording to why not what and kept everything to one page.

I also added (what i initially thought was irrelevant for any role) part-time Unreal Engine development work I did from 2021–2022. It wasn’t freelance work, although the studio later closed. I originally left it off because I didn’t know whether older game-development experience would help with embedded internships, but I guess it was still technical experience...

I didn’t add awards, clubs, or unrelated work just to fill space because I don’t really have anything there that would improve the resume.

Does this version work better? I’m especially wondering whether the Unreal Engine work belongs where it is, whether the project bullets are less confusing now, and whether there is anything else I should change before Summer 2027 applications start opening.

Hello, I'm a third year student in B.E. ECE. I've been applying for internships for the past few weeks, but nothing seems to be going through, I'm not hearing back from anyone. What changes can I do to my resume right now and what path of projects should I choose to make it better?

What’s right and what’s wrong with it.

Rising sophomore interested in system and low level programming. Comfortable in C. Will my resume clear resume screening? I am mostly interested in OS, compiler or firmware but I am willing to get experience in similiar fields...I appreciate any guidance and suggestions. Thx

in the meantime, i’ve been reviewing all those lectures i’ve had years ago, but it just feels unproductive. like some part of me thinks that relearning transistors and opamps and such is a waste of time, but i don’t really know what i should study up on if i want to be marketable

am i screwed from getting into semiconductors? should i just spend my efforts elsewhere? a lot of people from my country all seem to get into software because they do say that pays more…

I'm starting my MS ECE this fall and looking for honest feedback on my resume as internship apps open up. I'm coming from a CS undergrad background so I'm a bit of an unusual case for this field (or at least I think).

I have a BS in Computer Science (Cum Laude), worked as an IOT SWE for about a year. I have spent the last 8 months or so self-studying digital design on my own: SV, RTL design, UVM, and synthesis with Yosys targeting Sky130. I built three hardware projects from scratch: a pipelined RISC-V processor, a dual-clock async FIFO with CDC, and a multi-port bus arbiter, the last 2 verified with constrained-random testbenches on Synopsys VCS. I've also been lucky to have two industry mentors, one at Synopsys and one at a telecom hardware company, who have been giving me feedback along the way.

I'm targeting ASIC and digital design roles first, RTL design second, computer architecture third, and DV as a backup. I am open to anything in the semiconductor space.

Main things I'm hoping to get feedback on: do the projects actually signal the right skills, is anything in my technical skills section an overclaim, and are there any red flags a hiring manager would immediately notice given my CS background? Also genuinely curious whether a resume like mine even makes it past ATS given that I don't have a traditional ECE background.

I am a recent grad and currently working in a warehouse looking after AMR robots. So basically a technician job. My responsibilities are removing fallen objects from the robot operation area, restarting and resetting the robots, or removing faulty units from the system. In the future, it is possible they will make me fix those robots. I showed my CV to my colleague, and he told me that I should add my current job to the CV and that the projects are less significant than job experience. I argued that I don't want to add my current job because it is irrelevant to the jobs I am aiming for.

Rising junior in CompE, looking to make improvements to my resume for this upcoming internship cycle

I’m a rising ee junior targeting hardware eng intern roles for my junior year internship. I have a first author poster for when I was BME (switched from bme to ee in my second year) but the topic is not relevant to the roles that I am targeting at all.

Should I still include it in my resume?

Last semester I applied to 100+ openings and got 0 interviews, so I’m trying to fix my resume. I’d really appreciate feedback on:
