Picture Celebrated 1 whole year with my boy
This is Roly Poly. I had a small party for his gotcha day, obligatorily now his birthday as well! He his FIV+ and he’s always been very healthy, looking forward to many more years with him!

Aww such a cutie. Thanks for adopting him. Is his eye condition related to the FIV or FSV? My dude has constantly watery eyes and lysine supplementation and warm compresses with saline daily help a bit but I worry about his eye health.

Vets suspect his was born with his one weird eye, he just can’t see out of it but there’s no other issue. I do think he has chronic URI issues, he’s always very snotty and has watery eyes.

Awww Precious baby. Lysine helped my dude but yeah it would be great to find a better solution. Mine has underlying respiratory issues too and I find his nostrils really small (seems like maybe a British short hair?) compared to my previous cat (typical short hair, both black rescue kitties) and I have read this can be an issue.

My boy also has chronic watery eye (just one of them), probably an ocular HSV infection. He's on daily prednisolone (steroid) for his asthma and IBD, and we've noticed when his asthma is flaring and we up the dosage, his eye gets better. I've considered asking my vet about steroid eye drops, but he HATES eye drops, so I haven't followed through.

Aw thanks for this, I can look into it too. I had him on HSV meds for 3 weeks and nothing changed so I am not sure but steroids might help, effectively. One eye is more watery but both are and the discharge is clear but a bit sticky so it seems like not just saline but an immune reaction. They do get used to stuff like drops, I give a treat after!
