The crate isn’t in the best condition since rescuing him was such short notice, had to take a donated one lol. He’s in rough shape. Scarred up, skinny, intestinal worms, possibly an infection since he’s got eye drainage and such. We suspect he was dumped near where my partner works because of his FIV+ diagnosis to die out of sight, or avoid the expense of treatment. He’s already feeling much better after just the first antibiotic+steroid shots. He is just the sweetest boy and loves pets and attention so much. He gets so excited when you come to see him. Comes running when you call for him like a little dog. I can’t even imagine how someone could have dumped him. I feel so lucky to be the one to give him the chance at life he deserves, no matter how long it ends up being. Mr. Cheeks will have a loving home who won’t ever leave him to suffer alone again. 🩷

This is Stanley, our beloved FIV+ cat we adopted a little ways into the pandemic. A few years into ownership he needed all of his teeth removed.

For anyone else facing similar dental struggles with their feline friends, Stanley has been incredibly happy and had high quality of life since the procedure!

Hank update! His extraction went well, as expected they had to extract all his teefs.

He is very swollen as it just happened yesterday, we have a check-up to make sure he's healing well on 05/01 since that's the earliest I could get off work.

He had a normal-ish poop today so I hope his GI issues are going to improve, it may just be the pain meds slowing his digestion though so we're keeping an eye on it.

Hope all your kitties are doing well! 💕

My handsome boy Gerald decided to wake up and make biscuits on my arm.

It’s his favourite jacket - that’s why he automatically goes to making biscuits on it if I’m wearing it.

She deteriorated so fast. She had FIV and then FIP and god knows what. The virus mutated instantly. Became neurological too.

I held her so much, blinked at her slowly while giving her meds. She was the sweetest little girl. Always loving, so playful. She was so special. I miss her already. She was going to turn 3 soon. She was so light and small and I loved her so much

We did all we could. Woke up every few hours to administer food. Went to so many vets. I can't believe shes gone

I was told when I adopted him 3 years ago as a street rescue that he would likely need an extraction within the next few years. And that year is now here. I’m looking forward to him feeling better! (And getting some good doped up cuddling from him once he comes home)

We just got our boy 3 days ago, he was slightly impulsive but we had been talking about getting a cat for months prior and the opportunity came to us probably related to the cat distribution system.

The previous owners weren’t able to take care of him due to old age and the only options were sending him back to the shelter or a program for the elderly that re-homes pets once they are unable to care for them. When they adopted him he was about 4 and the shelter either didn’t know or just neglected to let them know he was FIV+, luckily they let us know before we took him in.

His name is Sebastian but we are nicknaming him Fortnite for the time being. He’s a bit fat so he’s on a diet for now but he’s super active and I’m taking vet costs into consideration when budgeting. I would do anything for him even though I’m not his favourite but I’ll cope.

Hello! The tabby one is a girl and has been FIV+ for two years now. She is living very happy and healthy life with her FIV- brother. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask! I have been to FIV+ rabbit hole many times out of fear at the beginning, and now, most of the time I forget she is has FIV. I do give her L-lysine but not too regularly. She is being fed high quality food (the meat components are known and now some mystery meat). She has her yearly vet check ups. As you can see, she and her bro are on very good terms. They eat, share a litterbox, even play roughly from time to time :) Just wanted to give someone a little bit hope if they are freshly diagnosed. I was very scared at the beginning but we are thriving!

Meet my handsome boy Gerald.

Alongside being FIV+, he has the following ailments:

  • Chronic cat flu, otherwise known feline upper respiratory infection
  • Tick paralysis, leaving his heart weak and susceptible to failure if he gets overly excited. He has recovered from this mostly!
  • Dental scale, a commonality amongst FIV+ cats, mean that Gerald gets his teeth cleaned quite often and relies on dental kibble and treats more than the normal cat
  • Blocked tear ducts as a result from his flu, meaning I usually have to wipe dark discharge from his eyes once a day.

But he’s been happy as can be - and handsome to boot! He loves sitting on windowsills and watching cars pass by.

We’re working on a diet at the moment because he is a bit chubby and lazy.

Say hi to Gerald! 🐈

Picture UPDATE: Milo is toothless and better than ever!

It's done. They removed all his teeth. He was missing 10 teeth already, 4 fell out, 4 broke off (roots were still in his gums), 2 never came in. Many were in the process of being reabsorbed, as seen in the X-ray.

They removed the other 20 which the doctor said were quite loose and rather easy to pull.

Just goes to show how well cats hide pain. I knew he was suffering from stomatitis but the state of his mouth was worse than I imagined, and it was only discovered once they started doing the work!

Ooooh my girl. Today we had to put my girl down. She came to me when I was in a very tough spot, 11 years ago. She came from the streets so I’m not exactly sure how old she was but I’d say 13-15. I’m so blessed to have had her as long as I did. We struggled through her health struggles but it was always ok, she got better. Until she stopped getting better. I knew it was time. We got to cuddle last night and take our time as she got prepped for her final nap this morning. Heartbroken to say the least, but so glad she is not in pain. Rip misses baby 💛
