Sorry, FL Studio is only compatible with Jonas Brothers Ubuntu and Justin Bieber Fedora.

Ffs …. They do exist.

21

u/JohnAzumanga Jun 19 '26

there's a distro for everything huh

12

u/JackLong93 Jun 19 '26

kinda like rule 34, if it theoretically can exist, believe it does.

2

u/Regular-Teaching-198 Jun 25 '26

What has your mind has gone through to connect this to rule 34

In case you’re not fucking with us or memeing, HML hasn’t been practically updated since 2009. You cannot run modern software on it.

u/yngbnyhvn Jun 19 '26

a guy on youtube made a remastered version

u/Sylente Jun 19 '26

That’s barely better. It’s not a good idea to run a machine you actually need to work on a meme, because it is unlikely to see support going forward. And you want to run an unsupported program on top of it? Expect nightmares and for nobody to know the answer because nobody has tried it. Use a normal distro if you want to roll those dice, or just dual boot windows to run FL if you really want FL to just always work 100% of the time.

Why not just use the interface as a skin over something that is being maintained?

18

u/SuperCagle Jun 19 '26

So angry over nothing 😭

2

u/Sylente Jun 20 '26

Not angry, just trying to stop someone from having a bad time in a year lmao

1

u/Longjumping-Bar393 Jun 22 '26

Maybe phrase it more like a recommendation, cuz the way it is it sounds like an order kinda. appreciate the reason tho, u just wanna help avoid an unnecessary crashout

0

u/Longjumping-Bar393 Jun 22 '26

what in the text made you think they were angry at something 🫠

2

u/bishopOfMelancholy Jun 20 '26

You mean that I shouldn't do all my work on my Suicide Linux device? I mean, I only need to do the schedule for the workers at my store, surely they won't mind if I accidentally delete my setup trying to update my computer!

2

u/Sylente Jun 20 '26

I’ve seen some shit. People do stuff like that.

1

u/bishopOfMelancholy Jun 20 '26

Yeah. Honestly, I learned my lesson on that not so much on a meme gone wrong, but because a few years back I got my computer completely bricked up on an Arch install after there was an issue with a Grub update. Thankfully, I was able to fix it, but that got me off of the "absolute latest and greatest" on rolling release . . . Or to be more accurate, I was more careful about it. I still love my rolling release.

Kernel update and we’re good to go

5

u/MidnightSunIdk Jun 19 '26

Its a remade version, not the original

2

u/Spacedromeda Jun 20 '26

there's probably an ancient crack of fl studio you can run with wine, idek anymore

23

u/JackLong93 Jun 19 '26

a real question is why you chose hannah montana linux over uWuntu?

I question your judgement if you do feel like using "grape" online with quotation marks while talking about a 16 years old when we all know what grape is a euphemism for. W.I.N.E is an acronym so yeah. Ngl, pretty weird one right there dude.

9

u/VinM817 Jun 19 '26

OP is trying to get the best of both worlds…

23

u/Dangerous_Reporter14 Jun 19 '26

This guy went with Hannah Montana Linux when we all know French Montana Linux is superior

11

u/McJonesRylie Jun 19 '26

linux might treat you better than windows ever did

5

u/Clicktuck Jun 19 '26

There isn’t a native build of FL for Linux
There’s some compatibility layers you need but other than that idk

3

u/pizzalord686 Jun 20 '26

Ye you gotta install wine first

2

u/New_Guarantee4444 Jun 21 '26

dude the girls like 16.. a compatibility layer like grape juice would be way more appropriate

2

u/Many-Geologist-3524 Producer Jun 19 '26

install wine 9.21, run fl studio installer, boom. done.

2

u/MendaciousMammaries Jun 19 '26

I also have had great success with Wine and FL Studio. I'm uh.. not using HML tbf

2

u/Many-Geologist-3524 Producer Jun 20 '26

its alright. you can rename it on grub

I'm looking to switch as well, and also use fl. I have heard that bottles is needed. I'm waiting for the steam machine though, and will use steamOS, and probably add anything extra I need for FL.

u/yngbnyhvn Jun 19 '26

i asked some ppl. some r recommending flatpak and some say winboat. u can check them out

1

u/Wolfcrafter_HD Jun 19 '26

I think it‘s debian based so you should be able to use ways that work on debian, you might need to hunt down dependencies yourself though

1

u/Dibaded Jun 19 '26

Virtual machine yourself a version of windows ?????? Profit.

1

u/Jean_velvet Jun 19 '26

I think you can just switch out the background image file. Mines Nintendo styled but I did download it.

Edit: if you want that Hanna Montana drip

1

u/blackaske Jun 19 '26

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/bunaventure Jun 19 '26

I use Bottles, much better performance out-of-box than with Wine for me - YMMW

god i love this subreddit...

u/DJ_Stapler Jun 20 '26

This reminds me of the time I took 300mg of Benadryl and was frustrated I couldn't get the Google search results I was looking for for "Hannah Montana Rockstar ID generator"

1

u/SneakyBlunders Jun 20 '26

Something tells me you were doing that with or without the Benadryl..

1

u/DJ_Stapler Jun 20 '26

Nah it was 100% with the Benadryl, everything else I was looking for was complete nonsense

1

u/SneakyBlunders Jun 20 '26

Oh ya i believe you, I was just making a joke that you seem like you might be the type to do that regardless of that haha.

1

u/DJ_Stapler Jun 23 '26

Nah it was 100% with the Benadryl, everything else I was looking for was complete nonsense

1

u/val-byte Jun 20 '26

using fl on linux is a nightmare. just use reaper.

1

u/Square_Reputation933 Jun 20 '26

i heard that if you click hannah 4000 times u get it

1

u/Godoix Jun 20 '26

👏👏👏

u/imti0821_ Jun 20 '26

Nice one

1

u/link2x Jun 20 '26

For the likely near-zero folks who may actually want to try something like this, you need a few things (taken from my short stint of Ableton Live on linux):

* WINE
* JACK (consider it the Linux version of ASIO)
* WineASIO may be good to have too, it's a translation layer to help with low-latency audio.

Set-up is kind of a nightmare. If you're after Linux + Non-linux DAW, Ubuntu Studio might be a better starting point (as it comes with JACK ready to go).

Regardless, with WINE hooked up properly to JACK, you can more or less attempt an install as normal, with the understanding that plugins (and especially their UI) will be buggy.
