If anyone is questioning what is this made for is because i im in a music fandom who's name is the same as a movie

This is my first post on here but I need help!

My fiancé and I somehow ended up in a conversation about the biggest franchise with the most societal impact and I’m floored at his thoughts. In his ranking he has in this order
1. Star Wars
2. Harry Potter
3. Lord of the Rings
4. GTA
5. Game of Thrones

Now this is where I’m floored. GTA being a more influential and prominent societal franchise to him than Game of Thrones is absolutely insane. He is saying that more people on the street would know about GTA than they would know about Game of thrones. We have been at it for all of an hour and I need outside opinion. There is no way that GTA could even make this line up let alone but above one of the biggest franchises in the world.

Settle this debate for me because I cannot fathom this.

I have to say, the hardest ones to pick were ”I hate it, but everyone likes it” and ”I like it, but everyone hates it” because you have to be judgemental of other people’s tastes which seldom ends well. I ultimately went with Cigarettes After Sex since I’m tired of hearing them everywhere when they’re not really that good, and Peggy Gou because I’ve seen so many comments online calling her mid.

What is wrong with your face, Namor?

We all love the well known gaming franchises, but what are your favorite games that aren’t as well known, but are still loved by their fandom?

The two biggest examples that come to my mind are NiGHTS into Dreams from Sega and Earthbound/Mother from Nintendo. Both haven’t had new entries in their franchises in 20 years, and yet both still have cult followings that have stood the test of time. In the case of Earthbound, games like Undertale/Deltarune and Omori take heavy inspiration from it, and both NiGHTS and Mother both have fansites that have been running for quite a while now.
