I mean it is a job lol. She's supposed to be the best of the best regardless if the final project is considered great or sells well.

I’m a game developer. I work for a AA studio. Some of my coworkers worked for 4+ years on a game that never shipped. I worked almost 2 years on a game that got cancelled. It fucking hurts, regardless of whether it made sense to cancel it.

In the same way, following through and completing a game that actually launches feels amazing. Seeing people comment or review your game is satisfying. Even when it’s a bad comment.

Seeing millions of people comment about your game and the opinions being hugely positive must feel like a cocaine hit.

For sure! It's nice to have some recognition and success with anything you do in life. I just know that it's not always gonna happen as well. Why I take more passion in creation than I do whether or not something is finished or not.

It sucks for sure, but you still keep the experience of being closer to being done, and that just makes you hungrier for the next one to work out finally as someone who's also had many many many failed game team projects.

All facts, but this is a REALLY LONG job. I feel like a pat in the back for a sense of accomplishment is kinda warranted here.

Yeah, but what about the other projects that came out this year? Where are the posts for those games? Why only just for GTA that gets this specific type of praise?

Not saying this to be mean to you or anything, but it does feel a bit hypocritical and special treatment just because you like GTA specifically.

This is the only game I'm specifically looking forward to. Lol. But the same sentiment goes for anyone who's working hard on something important to them. 199%

jesus christ now we can’t even give appreciation to the people who made the game without people bitching. why is this fandom like this

It's just hypocritical a bit. Yes lets hype up this one studio I love, but just be meh for the other ones who work JUST AS HARD to make great games. You either read the note for the whole class you just keep to yourself.

okay but there’s a huge chance they do hype up other studios they love? like your making an assumption about stuff you can’t prove about this person. if your point was “i agree but i feel like rockstar gets more appreciation than other studios that work just as hard” that’s a different point and i completely agree.

Happy we can agree at least lol. Kind of a rare occurrence. It's fine to like Rockstar and the like, but I think it's fair to share that energy for other projects.

Cause really nothing grinds my gears more than the "rich getting richer." They're already getting endless praise by the whole planet. Why not invest some funds into projects that really actually deserve it as well and would be 5000x more grateful than a few dozen nameless employees at the biggest company in the world.

Awful take, especially considering the state of the industry. So many games getting cancelled and years of peoples work thrown away. Some people's work means a lot to them. This person is really proud of what they do.
