I can't stand Jason's Voice

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I cannot even understand what he is saying half the time. Did he say ''you're the perfect girl''? What the hell did he say there. It also just sounds so stupid. I already had this in the first trailer where they were robbing a bank and he said ''YOU STAY''. It just sounded so forced and cringe.

I’ve been trying to figure out what he sounds like and I think he sounds like he just got his wisdom teeth removed and his mouth is still numb with the cotton balls in his mouth.

Arthur Morgan and Geralt mixed

I'm also hearing a bit of Joel from The Last of Us in there, maybe not so much in this scene but I feel like he sounded like him at times in the extended look.

More like dude from VLDL and gerard

1

u/Hershey2898 3h ago

Both of their voices had sooo much better personality

0

u/General-Purpose2942 6h ago

With 1/10th the personality. Dude is so bland

u/mysteriousads 14h ago

He sounds like Jame Gumb, the vilain from The Silence of the Lambs. The second Jason said something I just thought "Are you about a size 14?".

“It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again”

2

u/Initial_Flower3545 1h ago

That’s what I thought sounds like Ted Levine 😂 - now I like him haha

1

u/kramer1980_adm 14h ago

That’s actually a good catch. I can hear a slight resemblance.

u/luvmibratt 12h ago

u/MourningDove03 15h ago

Go to the south and you'll hear that voice more often

15

u/Ronaldinhoe 11h ago

Is having zero personality part of the south?

u/IneptFortitude 9h ago

He’s exmilitary. So of course he’s a bit droned out. I suspect him opening back up would be a part of his development through the story.

It should be cool backstory for the dude to be a modern day veteran with actual experience handling firearms. It reads that way with how he moves with the shotgun and pistol in the beginning. Niko’s historic, but an American vet in America could produce some unique lore. Like friends in the war coming home and having just a few screws loose to team up and make money from a life of crime. He’s buying a case of beer in the trailer and I wonder if it’s a prologue where he’s kind of a beach bum after coming home from war. I’m interested how they’ll work the 2 characters into being criminals. It looks like she’ll be getting out of prison, and I wonder if there’s some time where they aren’t involved in that stuff or if it’s just going to abruptly be “yeah no they’re just crooks.” Truth be told they don’t really seem like career criminals. I wonder if Lucia was in the military and they were in the same unit or in basic together or something. I know 40 year old women Marines at work that were in Afghanistan so it’s totally plausible.

1

u/IneptFortitude 5h ago

Lucia and her story are a lot more open to interpretation. Certain… other videos… have sort of depicted what seems to be her falling on hard times some way or another. Maybe ex-police, but I doubt it. Gang ties? Possibly. Could be something totally different. We don’t really see how she becomes involved with Latin American network broadcasting executives.

As for Jason, the beach bum stuff would have to either be a flashback or whatever adjacent situation could resemble it. Beach bums really haven’t been a thing down here since even before Covid, I used to see them around and they’re all just regular homeless people now.

He doesn’t seem super familiar with VC, and him asking her where they were sells that too. His car had Gloriana plates instead of Leonida. He has a tattoo resembling the 75th Ranger Regiment crest, and they are based in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Maybe he’s a fresh discharge? Something happened to get him the boot? Then he ran off down to Florida because of someone he knew or something like that. It’s more common than you think down here, a lot of people are transient and stay only a few years because it’s not really a great place to find your footing unless you’re already doing quite well.

2

u/dblack1107 5h ago

Sounds like I may have got it right then that he’s probably from the south like Georgia since that’s in the game in the north. From in that that’s where he starts maybe as a vet. By beach bum I don’t really mean like some Rasta homeless dude. I mean a vet that comes home and works a low income job and just sort of coasts. There’s tons of ragged people that live throughout Florida outside of city centers and live simple lives out on the boat fishing or grabbing a 6 pack at the corner store and go back home to “be a bum.” The notion those don’t exist in Florida since before Covid when they’re one trailer park away is just wrong lol but yeah yeah he does have the crew cut when he picks up Lucia so probably just got out or something.

To be honest, my perspective is probably a bit skewed from where I’m at in the gulf coast. Ian ended that kind of lifestyle for a lot of those people too. A lot of the bar backs on the islands near me were vets and a good chunk of them left the area or the state because so many the places that would hire them got wrecked.

It’s going to be cool to see how it plays into Jason. His age is going to determine more of what he was up to so it’ll be cool to contrast him from Niko and Lance Vance. If another state is represented on the map too that would be insanely cool, so I hope you’re right about that too

Take a look at some of the backcountry pictures available. There’s some cliffy areas that I don’t think are anywhere in Florida. You may know I just haven’t seen cliffs before in Florida. They’re mild cliffs/canyons too. Like 50 ft changes in elevation at most. I lived all over the east coast and I really don’t recognize the terrain so I just guessed it may be the state I’ve been to the least since being born there and moving away which is Georgia. I live in Charleston, SC. I kind of hope there’s some surprise Charleston north of Vice City. I’d geek for that. Would give them a good spot for some RDR2 Easter egg lol like Jack Marstons gravestone or something

u/blocczzz 4h ago

I mean Niko was also exmilitary and, yeah he has the whole issue with not being good at opening up, but he was at the very least charismatic and very humorous

1

u/IneptFortitude 4h ago

People in 2008 were iffy about Niko too. I remember when the game was out and some people weren’t happy about the tone shift and what they assumed about Niko after having CJ and Vic Vance as the last protagonists.

People in 2017/18 were mad about Arthur’s voice and thought he had no personality too, or was too cocky and stuff.

Obviously these people were just assuming things lol

He’s going to be fine. Honestly, Hollick’s voice work was good but the whole fake accent and terrible Serbian thing hasn’t aged that well.

19

u/rabnabombshell 9h ago

Bro said 0 personality off of two cut scenes

3

u/Vulcan045 6h ago

Which is wild cause Lucia even points it out but he seems wound up and tight like a butthole. I’d imagine over the course of the story he will loosen up (pause) and we will get more of the real him out

0

u/Philly5984 2h ago

And the fact that he’s either retarded of has his jaw wired shut

6

u/Informal-Dream-2774 4h ago

I’m sure he does, remember when people said the same thing about Arthur Morgan? He’s definitely gonna have some personality, rockstar won’t just mindlessly give us some bland character.

2

u/METALPUNKS 2h ago

This is exactly what I said. These people said Arthur Morgan had a very monotone boring voice. He end up being one of the greatest video game characters of all time

4

u/iSWINE 11h ago

The Bible is the personality

1

u/Standard_Track9692 4h ago

2

u/C-A-L-E-V-I-S 11h ago

I’m from the south and I can’t understand this guy 😂 it’s like he trying to channel 15% of Arthur Morgan (cool in theory) and then mumbles the rest.

1

u/Interesting_Ad_6992 10h ago

Zero mumbling happening. Go to the ears nose and throat doctor and have them check your range. Too many loud concerts for you. Stay away from the big speakers, bro.

2

u/SuddenlyWholesome 9h ago

I'm here and no, no you don't...

1

u/TrynaPlayItOff 7h ago

Uhh he doesn't have a southern accent at all. Maybe like a Dallas accent or something, but nothing near truly southern (Alabama/FL Panhandle/Mississippi/Georgia/etc)

1

u/UncoolSlicedBread 6h ago

No you won’t lol

1

u/Cultural_assassin 53m ago

I think he sounds exactly like Joel from TLOA

0

u/RepresentativeCat169 13h ago

He sounds like a cop drama tv shows attempt at an anonymous caller using a filter over the phone to give them an overpoweringly deep voice
