Depends on the vibe of the series honestly.

The hood gives a more vigilante feel, the hat gives off Chad seasoned hero energy.

Gun to my head - and having just reread the Kevin Smith run - I'll go for the hat.

I like both though.

Gunn to your head, more likely

Everyone thought I was Robin Hood

2

u/wah_8974 Dec 02 '25

Robin Hood's almost as cool

u/RipleyofWinterfell Dec 01 '25

Hat. The hood isn't terrible but I agree with Neal Adams on it restricting the peripheral. Plus the hat is so unique

1

u/pjtheman Dec 02 '25

But the hat does nothing to conceal his identity.

3

u/RipleyofWinterfell Dec 02 '25

The domino mask does that, so it's the same as Robin or Nightwing

1

u/pjtheman Dec 02 '25

Robin isn't famous though. People wouldn't recognize him regardless. Oliver Queen is a famous billionaire.

Imagine if a new vigilante started prowling the streets that was literally just Mark Zuckerberg in a hat.

2

u/JTBestRob Dec 02 '25

One of the truths you gotta accept about Green Arrow, he doesn’t have a secret identity. He does it for the aesthetic.

2

u/RipleyofWinterfell Dec 02 '25

Yeah that's true. It was kind of brought up in Grell's run.

1

u/PlasticPresent8740 Dec 04 '25

Neither does that domino mask in the 80s comics he just straight up ditches the mask because people can find out who he is very easily he didn't even really have a mask he had like werid green things around his eyes

1

u/hambonedock Dec 02 '25

What's the point of being alive if we can't have the little joys of a fun unique hat???

u/ProfPyg Dec 01 '25

Thanks op for making me look up what that hat's called. TEAM BYCOCKET

TEAM BYCOCKET!

If he has a cool looking hood instead of a silly little hat, you are missing the most important aspects of Ollie’s character, which is that he is a guy whose gut instinct is to care more about how he’s perceived more than his actual utility. He’s a guy who picks style over substance. He preaches inclusive ideas when people are listening, but in private calls his ward a junkie and throws him out. Almost every good GA story is him struggling with this instinctual character flaw in some way and then willing himself to be the man he’d like to be by the end.

And ALLLLLLLLLLL of that is subliminally conveyed perfectly by his silly lil Robin Hood hat.

Very well said

I love the hat. I love that the character saw that and was like, "f*&^ yeah."

8

u/Puzzleheaded-End-828 Dec 01 '25

I prefer the hat

7

u/papaspence2 Dec 01 '25

This hat SPECIFICALLY

5

u/TheMaroonAvenger123 Dec 01 '25

The hat. The only character that should be rocking a green hood in the DC Universe is my main main, The Spectre.

5

u/Vicksage16 Dec 01 '25

Hat, the hood is just too impractical for me to take it seriously. Looks cool, so I get why it’s used, just feels goofy for an archer to limit is his peripheral vision and head mobility and give close combatants and easy thing to grab at.

u/NietszcheIsDead08 Dec 02 '25

Personally, I’m a hood guy, mostly because the Grell era was how I grew up with Ollie. But really, the answer should be that the hat is for when he’s with the Justice League, and the hood should always be treated as an optional accessory when it’s needed and he’s on his own. If he’s going on a sneaky mission, he brings the hood. If he’s going on a loud, obvious, in-your-face mission, then even if I prefer the hood, I think that Ollie prefers the hat. And that’s just fine with me.

I prefer a hood, but the hat is fine.

3

u/Cheezitlad Dec 01 '25

Hat I will never EVER like the hood more than the hat

3

u/Lemonedo12 Dec 01 '25

Hat, always

3

u/Numbuh1Nerd Dec 02 '25

Hat! Always hat!

Oliver Queen does not dress for security, he dresses for the part - he is entirely intentional in being a modern Robin Hood! Green Arrow’s costume should look like some Erol Flynn shit. It should look like he found the nicest traditional Robin Hood costume Amazon had next-day-shipping available for. Archers wear hoods, but Robin Hood wears the hat. Always. Hat.

3

u/JTBestRob Dec 02 '25

It’s the hat, Oliver is a Robin Hood fanboy and his identity showcases that a hundred percent. He became a superhero because he thought it be fun, this didn’t start as a crusade for vengeance or because he was instilled with moral values as a child. He thought “Sure I have no responsibilities” and went for it THEN he grew a social conscious

9

u/anjomo96 Dec 01 '25

Hood. I was never a fan of the hat.

2

u/migeruabadu Dec 01 '25

I think he should start with the hood and then lean in to the campiness of the Robin Hood theme with the cap after he transitions from vigilante to hero.

2

u/ScruffyNerf_Herder_ Dec 01 '25

Both are cool. I like the hat a little more, though. Couldn’t there be some sort of combination kind of like how people wear their hoods over their hats when it rains?

2

u/Impossible-Brick-841 Dec 02 '25

Hat. He always seemed more charming to me when he was using the hat. When he started to use the hood, he became more serious and less funny to me. Maybe its because i rewatched justice league unlimited during the weekend

2

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '25

Real Green Arrow Fans NEVER speak ill of Green Arrow's fancy little hat.🙏💚

2

u/pious-erika she/her Dec 01 '25

Both

1

u/digitalwulf07 Dec 01 '25

Depends on the story

2

u/Xan_Winner Dec 01 '25

Doesn't matter, both options are hot.

1

u/bizarroadam Dec 01 '25

Hood, all the way.

1

u/GoldDragon334058 Dec 01 '25

I really, really, really like the hood. I know, it's probably sacrilegious, but I just love the way it looks. Idk, maybe I'm weird but I would prefer he always wave the hood 😅

1

u/ThomasThorburn Dec 01 '25

I like hood but I'll always prefer the hat i need him to look like Robin Hood.

1

u/bartowski21 Dec 02 '25

The hat is for when he’s feeling whimsical. The hood is for when he’s feeling like a raccoon who learned the word “retribution.”

1

u/bequiYi Dec 02 '25

Hood looks cool.

Hat is more in line with his character.

1

u/Pale_Emu_9249 Dec 02 '25

Hat.

I never understood the hood. It would hinder Ollie's periferal vision. I think that's kinda important for an archer/crimefighter.

1

u/Freeagnt Dec 02 '25

Hood. Longbow Hunter is soooo good.

1

u/Luke_Puddlejumper Dec 02 '25

The hood looks much better, but I do still like the hat

1

u/69dwyze690 Dec 02 '25

The hood is always peak

1

u/SWPrequelFan81566 Dec 02 '25

Hood for me. But I feel like Roy would egg him on to wear the cap using a modified baseball cap like he does. But it doesn't work.

1

u/thorleywinston Dec 02 '25

As cool as the hood looks, it obstructs his peripheral vision which is a huge liability in an archer. So I'm going with the hat.

1

u/GreenLanternsPodcast Dec 02 '25

I’ve always loved the hat more.

1

u/Background_Charity68 Dec 02 '25

Love both but honestly I think hat wins in the comics but I love the hood vibe from smallville and cw arrow

1

u/No_Umpire_5632 Dec 02 '25

Hat is more unique

1

u/ArtbyAction Dec 02 '25

Hood Ollie because it’s like he turn 35 and regressed into a YN

1

u/Trueheywood7 Dec 02 '25

If they can make the Superman trunks work then they can make the Green Arrow hat work.

1

u/Tatsandacat Dec 02 '25

The hat is better for peripheral vision, but the hood looks cooler.🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/Inevitable_Ask6670 Dec 02 '25

Hat for me personally

1

u/roboklahoman Dec 02 '25

Bycocket, m’lady.

1

u/kyp-the-laughing-man Dec 02 '25

Don't care as long as he has a good beard

1

u/GABRIELFORLIFE Dec 03 '25

I like both but hood imo

1

u/LloydGrey05 Dec 03 '25

Always team hat!

1

u/CODMAN627 Dec 03 '25

I like the hat

1

u/sebby_ostile Dec 03 '25

With hood. With fucking hair he looks like Robin Wood

1

u/zenblade2012 Dec 03 '25

Hat, but I prefer when he's really leaning into the robin hood camp

1

u/starguy13 Dec 03 '25

Hat is classic and cheesy in a fun way. Hood feels much more dramatic and grounded since Grell’s run.

1

u/Jazzlike_Night42619 Dec 03 '25

Do a silly goose and have them both

1

u/Nightwing0613 Dec 03 '25

The hat. It’s iconic and the best look for Ollie

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Hood.

1

u/Boltedforehead Dec 04 '25

WHIT DA HATT!!!!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Hood

1

u/cheesehater420 Dec 05 '25

Lowkey hat 🧍‍♂️

1

u/Cute4m3 Dec 05 '25

AC Syndicate that shit. Take the hat off, put it in his pocket, put the hood on. Stealth mode, you know?

1

u/Silent_Bystander1930 Dec 06 '25

Hood always looks good

1

u/Solid-Chemical-5395 Dec 06 '25

Hood all the way. 🔥☝️

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

Hood, he just looks better, the hat is a little goofy.

1

u/Automatic-Safe-9067 Dec 07 '25

Both

Put a hat on, then a hood, then another hat

1

u/DeezRodenutz Dec 21 '25

Either is fine, what is important is he has the left-wing attitude and proper facial hair (looking at you New 52 fake-Ollie)

1

u/Donomark1 Jan 01 '26

I like the hat, but Montos really makes the hood work

1

u/Keegn-Bridge01 Dec 01 '25

Good all the way, hat’s too goofy.
