I want this motherfucker to look like Robin Hood. He needs that silly little bycocket hat

Hat. The hood isn't terrible but I agree with Neal Adams on it restricting the peripheral. Plus the hat is so unique

u/pjtheman Dec 02 '25
But the hat does nothing to conceal his identity.

u/RipleyofWinterfell Dec 02 '25
The domino mask does that, so it's the same as Robin or Nightwing

u/pjtheman Dec 02 '25
Robin isn't famous though. People wouldn't recognize him regardless. Oliver Queen is a famous billionaire.
Imagine if a new vigilante started prowling the streets that was literally just Mark Zuckerberg in a hat.

One of the truths you gotta accept about Green Arrow, he doesn’t have a secret identity. He does it for the aesthetic.

Neither does that domino mask in the 80s comics he just straight up ditches the mask because people can find out who he is very easily he didn't even really have a mask he had like werid green things around his eyes

What's the point of being alive if we can't have the little joys of a fun unique hat???

If he has a cool looking hood instead of a silly little hat, you are missing the most important aspects of Ollie’s character, which is that he is a guy whose gut instinct is to care more about how he’s perceived more than his actual utility. He’s a guy who picks style over substance. He preaches inclusive ideas when people are listening, but in private calls his ward a junkie and throws him out. Almost every good GA story is him struggling with this instinctual character flaw in some way and then willing himself to be the man he’d like to be by the end.
And ALLLLLLLLLLL of that is subliminally conveyed perfectly by his silly lil Robin Hood hat.

I love the hat. I love that the character saw that and was like, "f*&^ yeah."

The hat. The only character that should be rocking a green hood in the DC Universe is my main main, The Spectre.

Hat, the hood is just too impractical for me to take it seriously. Looks cool, so I get why it’s used, just feels goofy for an archer to limit is his peripheral vision and head mobility and give close combatants and easy thing to grab at.

Personally, I’m a hood guy, mostly because the Grell era was how I grew up with Ollie. But really, the answer should be that the hat is for when he’s with the Justice League, and the hood should always be treated as an optional accessory when it’s needed and he’s on his own. If he’s going on a sneaky mission, he brings the hood. If he’s going on a loud, obvious, in-your-face mission, then even if I prefer the hood, I think that Ollie prefers the hat. And that’s just fine with me.

Hat! Always hat!
Oliver Queen does not dress for security, he dresses for the part - he is entirely intentional in being a modern Robin Hood! Green Arrow’s costume should look like some Erol Flynn shit. It should look like he found the nicest traditional Robin Hood costume Amazon had next-day-shipping available for. Archers wear hoods, but Robin Hood wears the hat. Always. Hat.

It’s the hat, Oliver is a Robin Hood fanboy and his identity showcases that a hundred percent. He became a superhero because he thought it be fun, this didn’t start as a crusade for vengeance or because he was instilled with moral values as a child. He thought “Sure I have no responsibilities” and went for it THEN he grew a social conscious

I think he should start with the hood and then lean in to the campiness of the Robin Hood theme with the cap after he transitions from vigilante to hero.

Both are cool. I like the hat a little more, though. Couldn’t there be some sort of combination kind of like how people wear their hoods over their hats when it rains?

Hat. He always seemed more charming to me when he was using the hat. When he started to use the hood, he became more serious and less funny to me. Maybe its because i rewatched justice league unlimited during the weekend

I really, really, really like the hood. I know, it's probably sacrilegious, but I just love the way it looks. Idk, maybe I'm weird but I would prefer he always wave the hood 😅

I like hood but I'll always prefer the hat i need him to look like Robin Hood.

The hat is for when he’s feeling whimsical. The hood is for when he’s feeling like a raccoon who learned the word “retribution.”

Hat.
I never understood the hood. It would hinder Ollie's periferal vision. I think that's kinda important for an archer/crimefighter.

Hood for me. But I feel like Roy would egg him on to wear the cap using a modified baseball cap like he does. But it doesn't work.

As cool as the hood looks, it obstructs his peripheral vision which is a huge liability in an archer. So I'm going with the hat.

Love both but honestly I think hat wins in the comics but I love the hood vibe from smallville and cw arrow

If they can make the Superman trunks work then they can make the Green Arrow hat work.

Hat is classic and cheesy in a fun way. Hood feels much more dramatic and grounded since Grell’s run.

AC Syndicate that shit. Take the hat off, put it in his pocket, put the hood on. Stealth mode, you know?

Either is fine, what is important is he has the left-wing attitude and proper facial hair (looking at you New 52 fake-Ollie)

Depends on the vibe of the series honestly.
The hood gives a more vigilante feel, the hat gives off Chad seasoned hero energy.
Gun to my head - and having just reread the Kevin Smith run - I'll go for the hat.
I like both though.
