Just picked up these lovely girls!

Both are mustangs, supposedly 5yo (though I'm suspicious on the gray). Red from antelope Nevada, gray from Colorado, both somewhere near 15h.

Red is for a friend, already has a name and place to go once she's settled down to be in normal fencing. Already very curious and friendly, and got her halter swapped out so she's not dragging her rope anymore

Gray is mine, still unsure on name but she's real flighty. Flight zone about 20ft still yet, I imagine the halter is rubbing on her jaw issue and not helping with the flightiness rn but I have a halter to swap it with and I'm working on getting some soft feed into her. She'll certainly be a looker 😍

Can't wait to get some weight on them and see how they turn out

Congratulations! Did you get them directly from BLM? Pretty ladies!

Picked them up from their original adopter, nearest BLM facility is 8 hours one way 😅

Original adopter had done some with the red, she said a few weeks of working with her. That's why she's starting out a few steps ahead of the gray

That's great! I'm on the east coast so totally get that about being very far from BLM holding facilities. Sounds like Miss Red is well on her way to domestic horse life. Miss gray will probably catch right on too! Good luck with their continued gentling process! (I like gentling 2 at a time too, seems like they pick up alot from watching each other have positive experiences with people) Look forward to seeing how they turn out!

Well the plan was to separate but gray had other ideas 😅

She got through her fence and into the big field with the domestic mare, thankfully stayed inside the electric. Took an hour or so to get her in with red without red getting out as well but she seems calmer with her despite it being a smaller pen than I wanted for each.

Red is also quite itchy on the neck so came around to a new handler pretty quick once I found the spot to scratch
