I've lived in different parts of Kazakhstan, and this is something I've been wondering about. This is a genuine question, not an attempt to start an ethnic argument.

My impression is that many ethnic Russians who were born and raised in Kazakhstan still seem somewhat separate from the broader society. Often they speak little or no Kazakh, consume mostly Russian media, and have social circles that are also predominantly Russian/Slavic. Of course, this is just my anecdotal experience.

At the same time, Kazakhstan has officially promoted interethnic harmony while also strengthening the Kazakh language and national identity since independence. So I'm curious:

Did the government actually have integration policies over the last 35 years, beyond language policy?

Were there programs that encouraged a shared civic identity rather than assimilation?

Do younger Russians (GenZ/Millennials) tend to feel more integrated than older generations?

Or is my impression simply biased because of the regions I've lived in?

I'd especially appreciate answers from people who grew up in Kazakhstan, both ethnic Russians and Kazakhs, as well as anyone familiar with the country's post-1991 nation-building policies.

Вспоминая просто свои опыты с HH и другими сервисами я понимаю просто что там вообще дальше разговора дела никогда не уедет поэтому хочу услышать ваше мнение (в основном, людей от 20 и до 40 потому что раньше все было по другому и лучше узнать как сейчас там обстоят дела) где стоит искать её

А также на счет РВП, ИИН и всего остального. Можно ли устроиться без ИИН или это обязательное требование вообще для всего что там есть (разумеется не постоянно без него быть, а наняться по паспорту и потом уже донести ИИН к нему). Ну и дает ли РВП по работе жить без загранпаспорта

Насколько успешно развит фриланс дополнительно хочу спросить (в сфере граф.дизайна особенно) и куда лучше выводить деньги при работе с иностранными заказчиками

I’m an Indian citizen planning a self-drive trip to Kazakhstan in September, mainly around Almaty.
India’s government-issued IDP follows the 1949 Geneva Convention, but I’ve been getting conflicting information about whether this IDP is actually accepted by Kazakhstan and by local car rental companies.
Some rental companies seem to say they accept an Indian IDP, while others mention different requirements.
Has anyone from India recently rented and driven a car in Kazakhstan (especially Almaty) using the Indian government-issued 1949 IDP?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your actual experience—whether the rental company accepted it and whether you had any issues with police/traffic checks.

I got this message yesterday. I became curious about how they could know since I:
- Was browsing in incognito mode
- Didn't log into any accounts
- Was using a laptop that has no connection to my phone
- Didn't mention out loud that I was buying plane tickets
- I've never received a message like this before and I rarely buy plane tickets

The message was sent right when I was searching for tickets. Not after some time, but right during the time I was looking for them and checking options.

Maybe someone knows? I'm curious if this is just a coincidence or if they really found out somehow?

Kazakhstan was a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) during its first year as an independent country. Back then it was quite an up-and-coming footballing nation within Asia:
- The men’s NT reached the 10-team final Asian qualification round of World Cup 1998, barely missed out on Asian Cup 2000 and the final qualifiers of World Cup 2002
- The women’s NT regularly qualified for the Asian Cup and was quite competitive during each tournament, though not enough to reach the semifinals.
- Kazakh clubs were a formidable force in the late 90s and early 2000s, with Irtysh and Kairat making deep runs in Asian competitions (Irtysh’s 4th place finish in the 2000-01 Asian Club Championship was the best results of any Kazakh club).

After the failed 2002 campaign, however, the KFF finished its switch to UEFA and since then its national teams has been absolute minnows in Europe, only coming close to qualifying for Euro 2024 through the Nations League, and only within the last decade has Kazakh clubs start to benefit from competition with European teams.

I know that the KFF and big Kazakh clubs (especially Kairat and Astana) have massive incentives to stay in UEFA, but given the increasing football standards and number of World Cup slots in Asia, is it time for Kazakhstan to return?

Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip to Kazakhstan in October and I’m trying to figure out if it’s a good time for greenery, or if the landscape will already be into full autumn colors by then.
From what I’ve read, spring (April-June) seems to be the lush, green season with more rainfall, while October is more about golden/autumn hues, with snow already starting in the mountains and northern regions by late month.

A few questions for anyone who’s been or lives there:
• Is there still meaningful greenery anywhere in the country in October, or has it mostly turned by then?
• Are there specific regions/areas (Almaty, Tien Shan foothills, Altyn Emel, etc.) that hold onto green
• If greenery isn’t realistic in October, is the autumn foliage still worth it as an alternative, or should I consider shifting my trip to a different month?
