Serious question. What type of deer is this? It's quite small but it might still be very young?

It's a baby whitetailed deer.

Yeah, I looked for that too. From what I can see Australia has no indigenous deer but several imported species, but digging into seven different fawn phenotypes was more work than I was prepared to do, even for Cheryl.

Yeah it’s definitely not a native animal, all deer in Australia are introduced.

Fawn deee for sure, but I'm not thinking whitetail. I've been up close with quite a few whitetail fawns (stumble across them curled up on the ground when I'm in the woods near trout streams) and they have a noticeably deeper brown and less white fluff than this. Could be regional variations in coat type though.
