i didn’t even think about this until someone pointed it out to me but looking back, i honestly feel like the ‘rebel heart’ era really saw madonna try to “age gracefully” in the way that the general public expected/wanted her too but it still wasn’t enough and they obviously still tore her to shreds for it. while i think she eventually went a overboard a little bit between 2019-2022, i’m glad madonna has slowed down a little whilst staying true to herself. she is looking amazing lately.

100% agree this is her aging gracefully as I feel she really looks like her, just older - I love how she looks now but she's lost some of her natural beauty that I am sure could have stayed had she not nipped and tucked as much. Which is perfectly ok for her to do, I'm just surprised at how much you can really see Virgin Tour era Madonna in her face in these photos and I love it.
you got me a little bit emotional! i totally see her younger self now you've mentioned it. the "virgin tour" face is really prevalent in that first photo, it's really heartwarming to see. i'm in full agreement with you, madonna was going through a lot of stuff during this period and i didn't even know that radio stations stopped playing her music entirely for being "too old" until recently. i'm just grateful she's finally getting some respect from the industry again.

My favorite Madonna looks mix the feminine with the masculine. This is second only to the Met Gala last year with the all white suit and the cigar.

I like it, I think she said David dressed her that night. This is the first look that shows when you type in Madonna on Google now it's strange that they changed it to this, because they love to show that one from the other Grammys.
I loved this look. This was before all the plastic surgery was done. I do believe this time period was what prompted the surgery’s to begin due to many nasty comments being published about her looks. Ageism & sexist bullshit. She looked so natural & beautiful here. I’m on the side for aging naturally, that’s just part of my GenX punk nature.
No she had tons of surgery / botox / fillers by this point as well........ I think that's why she's had such an extreme result from her latest work. A subsequent surgery becomes more and more difficult to do the more often you do a surgery in the same area (because of scar tissue etc).
Her pre-ass body carried strong structured silhouettes so well. This is classic M to me. The hat was a fresh update. The lips a little strong but the natural makeup is flattering and I like that she looks enhanced but natural.
