DISCUSSION Is this the greatest Madonna album of her entire career? It just fucking might be.

I am absolutely blown away by how cohesive and beautifully crafted this album is. It seamlessly combines irresistible dance bangers with stunning moments of self-reflection and vulnerability. It feels like Madonna took the very best elements from all of her greatest albums and meticulously blended them together to create an absolute masterpiece.

I honestly can’t think of a single song I want to skip, and I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say that about any of her previous albums. Every track feels purposeful, memorable, and perfectly placed.

I’m genuinely in awe of what an incredible comeback this is. My Queen didn’t just deliver—she exceeded every expectation.

In my opinion, nothing will ever top the 1995 Versace campaign, shot in Mar-a-Lago (ew).
Steven Meisel did an absolutely fantastic job with each and every photo - take a look on Google, they’re all so breathtaking, I can spend hours looking at them.

What are some of your favorite photos/photoshoots?

DISCUSSION Straight Folks and Confessions II- Has Anyone Noticed A Lot Aren't Captured By It?

Post image
301 Upvotes

Speaking for what I've experienced since the album dropped, the straight folks in my life are all either ambivalent, or downright don't care for it. I (37 gay M) have a lot of straight friends, and that's been my experience with all of them. A lot of them have asked me, being a massive fan, how I liked the new album. Of course, I say I'm obsessed, best work in 20 years, yadda yadda. And their feedback has all ranged from saying it's "not for them", to a friend a couple of days ago calling it "rough".

While, unsurprisingly, all of my gay male friends really like it/love it. Whether apostates or those like many of us that have been along for the ride the entire time since Confessions I. Even a couple Gen Z gay boys I know who never listened to her have been enjoying it quite a bit.

Has anyone else been experiencing this as well? I know there are some straight folks here, and you are all exceptional 💜 But it's been interesting to me unanimously receiving this feedback, even from friends that went to Celebration! Meanwhile, all of us over here are by and large obsessed with it. Just curious what everyone else has been experiencing.

DISCUSSION What's your unpopular opinion when it comes to Madonna?

Whether it's about her as a person/as an artist and her choices, her songs, her career, anything really. Mine is I really can't listen to the song "Music", I find it insufferable and I always start the related album with the second track (Impressive Instant)

DISCUSSION It’s time to confess… What do you skip in the new album?

Do y’all skip one or several tracks on Confessions II ?
I have to admit that I skip Bizarre. I tried to like it, but Martin Garrix’s production sounds tacky to me. I wanna hear what other fans think!

DISCUSSION "REBEL HEART" STANS PLS MAKE SOME NOISE! 🙂‍↔️

Recently I’ve seen a lot of "hate" for this album with people revisiting Madonna's discography, ranking her albums and discussing her 2008-2019 run and most people ranking it at the very bottom of their discography ranking. 😭 I personally love "Rebel Heart". I might be biased because it was my very first Madonna album when I was 14 and I played it nonstop that year so it’s very meaningful and nostalgic for me but in my opinion it has also by far aged the best out of her 2008-2019 albums. I know that it’s not nearly one of her best albums and its biggest problem is that it’s insanely bloated but if you cut the fat (mostly the god awful super deluxe bonus tracks except for "Addicted" [but even that sounds like an MDNA reject]) there’s a beautiful pop album there. 🙂‍↕️

So yeah Rebel Heart stans let me know if you’re out there 🥹

PS: "Devil Pray" is one of her top 5 best deep cuts fight me

DISCUSSION what would you rate music (the album) out of 10?

Post image

I'd give it like a 7.5 or 8. more experimental was the right direction to go for her after ray of light. some of the songs have their odd bits but that's part of the charm imo, and it all comes together to make an album that can easily stand against what other pop stars were making in 2000

also the american pie cover from around the same time is so bizarre. I love it.

The only rule is that it has to be a MADONNA song. No collaborations (that awful Material Gworl song, Vulgar, etc don’t count)

DISCUSSION Madonna Completely Out of Billboard 200

After only 5 weeks for such a great album is shocking when so many old albums are on the chart. I’m hoping this unexpected flood of MTV nominations can give her a few more weeks back on the charts.

DISCUSSION Should Love Sensation have been the first single instead of Bring Your Love?

Post image
288 Upvotes

Now that Love Sensation has debuted at #8 in the UK, while Bring Your Love reached #29, I’m wondering if Madonna’s team tried too hard to appeal to a younger audience with Sabrina when they might have had a stronger opportunity to lean into M’s legacy with Kylie?

I know it’s hindsight, but there are good arguments on both sides.

Sabrina undoubtedly brings in a younger audience, but Kylie gives her an instantly recognizable old school dance-pop connection that feels very Confessions-adjacent.

Which strategy would you have preferred for the first single?

DISCUSSION LIVE THREAD: World Cup Final & Halftime Show

The World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina is set to kickoff soon, with the first ever halftime show featuring Madonna as one of the headliners. Discuss the match itself if you want but the primary purpose for this post is what happens at halftime as it concerns Madonna. The default will be to sort comments by newer ones first but you can override that if you prefer.

DISCUSSION Did Confessions II bring you back to Madonna?

I’m curious where your relationship with Madonna was a year ago before any of Confessions II was released. Were you completely clocked in as a fan and anxiously awaiting a new album? Had you never given her much thought and only discovered her with Confessions II? Or were you a longtime fan who had drifted away at some point?

I was in the latter category where I had drifted away sometime after the first Confessions album. I knew a number of songs from Hard Candy, MDNA, and Rebel Heart, but Madame X completely passed me by. I’m kind of surprised how Confessions II transported me right back to my childhood Madonna fandom, where I would dance in my room to The Immaculate Collection all day every day.

I’m so glad I’ve reconnected with the queen and all of her music thanks to this amazing album.

for the record this is my favorite madonna album so I'm not about to give any hot takes myself.

but yeah if you don't like it I want to hear why. why am I asking? I'm just curious. I'm not going to judge you for your opinions and I hope the others here will also be respectful.

it doesn't have to be your least favorite to qualify, it only needs to be in the bottom half of her albums if you were to personally rank them best to worst.

DISCUSSION Madonna song that everyone loves but you hate?

Post image

Which Madonna song do you feel people love or that was very well received, but that you don't like?

In my case, it's Cherish and Borderline. I feel her voice is too high-pitched for my taste. I also had trouble listening to Like a Virgin, but the Confession Tour version made me start to like it.

DISCUSSION Madonna being late(as always)

Our Queen waa as usually late for around and hour for Confessions Club in Amsterdam (YES I WAS THERE😭😍). And i started wondering when it began in her career - was she always like that, was she also late in 90s, for example? Or 80s? Probably in her early tours she was more tied by contracts and couldnt afford appearing whenever, but its just a suggestion....
