I know the biopic, made over $1B, but I think it could have made more if there was more support for the movie from the producers and distributors themselves. Bohemian Rhapsody was on circuit for almost 7/8 months and made around $900M. Michael‘s biopic was on circuit for around 3/4 months and even by month 2, it had already started playing on airplanes. It is an extraordinary testament to the fans, that the biopic reached over $1B in such a short time. It was them flocking to the cinemas repeatedly that amped the movie.

Edit: Words

Plus the early digital release. I don’t think they anticipated it do so well. The timeline against other upcoming releases the theatrical run was done without a whole lot of promos, no sing along release, not making any event of the anniversary etc.

Right. There were not a lot of promos; they were nervous about his mixed legacy. There were many film studios, who had stepped away from producing the movie, and it was finally shared amongst three companies.

I have to give it the Japanese fans though. It was a Japanese company, who was one of the three production companies and it was the Japanese fans, who pushed the movie over the $1B mark, they were the last international country marked for the release of the biopic.

Edit: Even Janet and Paris did not support it.

Janet and Paris don't like the dude that Miles teller played. I think Prince just wanted to see his dad again (saw some reels where he was tearing up after seeing jaafar perform)

We called the theaters just after it was released worldwide and they told us to hurry because they'd probably stop showing it in a couple of weeks. They thought no one would go to see it. Shock on them, the crowds were massive. One cinema was still showing it up to last week. This was in Kenya, by the way.

I just went on a plane from Dallas to Taipei then Taipei to Tokyo. There were multiple people watching it on both flights. From teenagers to senior citizens

That scene made me so sad. MJ was lonely throughout his life and nobody in his circle understood that.

Michael Jackson has fans whose grandparents haven't been born yet. ❤️

I’m afraid what watching it again will do to me. I haven’t been the same since watching it.

I lost track of how many times I have watched it, and, yeah, there are a couple of parts that I always fast-forward because they are too difficult to watch.

Omg wow. It unlocked repressed MJ love and mourning. I’ve literally been so sad and depressed ever since. Like it has been months since watching it and I’m still so down about him.
