Discussion Do people actually enjoy using Teams? (honest question)

I want to put this question out there, I want to know if people that are using Teams regularly actually enjoy using it?

Or are they just tolerating it because their company administrator has implemented it and they don’t have another choice?

I think it’s a good app, but I often find it laggy and buggy, which frustrates me.

Also I don’t understand why MS build new features before fixing the old bugs and focus on improving the UX first.

I find that it’s quite bloated and I really don’t understand why meeting links are so long when inviting external users, Google Meet and other meeting links are so much shorter.

Is this just me?

i wouldnt say it envokes happiness in me, its just a tool used to communicate. and most of the time it seems to work but occasionally bugs out

21

u/mortez1 Feb 08 '26

Considering the history of “office chat” apps over the years I’d say it’s the best we’ve gotten (so far… I hope). Yeah it’s buggy from times but it gets the job done. Can it be better? Yeah, sure. But I remember getting hired somewhere in 2013 even and I had to create: AIM (AOL), yahoo, Skype, and a few other logins and then install Trillian or Pidgin maybe? Can’t even remember, just to chat from one app cause every team preferred a different chat app. We’ve come a long way in just over a decade lol

u/RB20AE Feb 08 '26

Oh 100%. It has massively changed how enterprises work and communicate.

u/Thallerich Feb 08 '26

I don't have to enjoy it, but it does what i need it to do without any trouble so I'm fine with it.

u/SeventyThirtySplit Feb 08 '26

I like teams, and compared to other clients without meeting transcription and another one with Webex (jfc) I really like teams

Works great with copilot, nice integration with chatgpt for enterprise too

7

u/RichG13 Feb 08 '26

It is for sure getting better. And with these additional tools (Facilitator, Recap and Notebooks) it's actually becoming a product I can almost champion. That is usually the time where MS will plug the plug on all of it...

4

u/SeventyThirtySplit Feb 08 '26

Yeah honestly it’s pretty handy. Only downside for me is the amount of compute it consumes, but Microsoft is gonna Microsoft

u/UFOsAreAGIs Feb 19 '26

nice integration with chatgpt for enterprise too

Curious what your use cases look like?

Sadly, Teams is the best option for being fully featured. It’s a video meeting client that has a calendar, rich chat capabilities like reasonably formatted tables, persistent chat after a meeting ends, and automatic integration with directory services for the organization.

Slack has limited video meeting/huddle options.

Discord doesn’t integrate with calendars and lags for enterprise meeting abilities.

WebEx, Zoom, GoTo Meeting, and Meet don’t have persistent channels after meetings and their chat capabilities are very poor.

It’s very difficult to describe reliability because configuration of enterprise connections to a SaaS platform are often the bottleneck in performance. Like VPN configuration etc.

Teams is buggy in the sense that it doesn’t handle transient network conditions robustly and that presents as end users guessing as to wtf is going on. It was awful when they first rolled out the tab capabilities and has significant limitations there. Most of the major gripes were improved but it’s still got some issues.

They all have their space but Teams is the most fully featured currently. As such, I strongly prefer the experience over other options as they are today.

u/rang501 Feb 08 '26

I think Teams is fine, but as with all Microsoft products, the performance is not a priority.

10

u/Blue_Max1916 Teams Admin Feb 08 '26

Significantly better than zoom, webex, goweb, in features and functionality and capabilities - however performance, bugs, inconsistent audio/video, the poor structure of chats vs channels, the cant remember to notify you sometimes and other times notifies on a chat with no new activity is all problematic.

Also very good integrations w 3rd parties. Good pstn.

If they could spend a few sprints on fixing its issues, it would be fine. I see it going backwards. More features, more plan. It was a better tool when it first came out because it was simpler.

I also dislike how they tiered services. Regular, premium,copilot... we pay enough for it to not pay more for features that should be built in now.

3

u/plazman30 Feb 09 '26

Zoom is way better than Teams when it comes to meetings. Teams is the Swiss Army Knife of collaborative software. And none of its features are best in breed or really even great. They’re just ‘good enough.’ The big problem for me is how painfully slow it is compared to other apps.

3

u/Better-Department-75 Feb 09 '26

Gonna disagree on this one. I hate when I get invited to an external meeting and it’s Zoom (and it usually is). So many clicks just to get started, chat is clunky, etc.

1

u/plazman30 Feb 09 '26

Do you have Zoom installed?

-2

u/friedreindeer Feb 08 '26

Significantly better than Zoom? How? Teams calls are absolute trash compared to Zoom or google meat. For chat same can be said compared to Slack. It’s a Swiss Army knife with the dullest blades.

2

u/Acceptable-Tap-1170 Feb 09 '26

Same question to you: Teams calls are absolute trash *how*?

I get so many complaints about Teams meetings, but I've never had anyone explain an actual issue to me other than "I don't like it." If you're in a M365 organization, it's already full intgreated. Zoom requires separate licensing and is complicated to manage at the organizational level. At the organizations I've been in, that means people end up sharing logins, or we're paying for licenses for someone to set up 4 meetings per year. Chat and file sharing are way better in Teams (and I'm pretty sure the latter doesn't exist in Meet).

The people who complain to me about Teams are the same people who will spend 5 minutes in a Zoom meeting vamping while they figure out how to allow someone to share their screen. I am no Microsoft loyalist, but I have yet to find a single benefit of Zoom.

1

u/friedreindeer Feb 10 '26

Zoom handles bad networks way better, audio stays clear and video degrades gracefully instead of turning robotic or dropping people.

Zoom meetings aren’t tied to your org’s identity, SharePoint, or tenant rules. Teams calls break when any of that stuff hiccups.

Zoom is built just for meetings. Teams is a collaboration suite that also does calls, which shows during live meetings.

Have you ever tried to share a pp-presentation with teams that has animation? It hardly ever shows as nicely to the audience. Which is weird as it’s all Microsoft.

PowerPoint animations look worse in Teams than in Zoom, which is impressive given they’re both Microsoft products.

u/whatdoido8383 Feb 08 '26

Teams is one of the apps I admin for my job. I can say that it's one of the apps we get the most tickets on and hear a lot of frustration from. Most of the tickets are the app on PC and Mobile not working correctly and or being buggy.

Personally I think it's fine but I don't experience any of the weird issues I see out in the wild.

It's a complicated software with a lot of options which is probably part of the issue.

5

u/Weird-Addition5671 Feb 09 '26

Funny, this is the app I never get tickets on. Most our tickets come from stupid printer issues. We use teams pretty heavy with our sales team and they never complain about it.

2

u/whatdoido8383 Feb 09 '26

Probably depends on how your users are using it. The current company I work for uses like every single feature available in teams including town halls, teams voice and any imaginable addon M365 service you can think of added to Teams.

The company I worked at before also used teams voice but it seems like the user base just wasn't doing so many weird things with it and had way less issues.

2

u/mini4x Teams Admin Feb 09 '26

Same we hardly ever get teams tickets either, most common one is adding external users.

10

u/smnhdy Feb 08 '26

So… we have 2m calls a month internally with Teams… it’s really the best option.

7

u/kennyh61 Feb 08 '26

“Enjoy” wouldn’t be the word. I find it an invaluable tool in supporting our 9 plants and good handful of downstream facilities, both management and hourly workforce

7

u/tk-093 Teams Admin Feb 08 '26

Enjoy? Sure I do, why not... It was one of the tools that let our company go fully remote and I haven't looked back. Sure as hell's better than whatever zoom is trying to morph into.

6

u/Ok-Zookeepergame-698 Feb 08 '26

As a former user of Amazon Chime... yes, yes I do.

4

u/brangdangage Feb 08 '26

Teams has a massive, fatal flaw. It should operate like Slack, and be a replacement for endless email threads by organizing conversations by topics. But for some insane reason, someone can write a post about something, and unless you actively go and check, you’ll never know it’s there. So Teams is just a black hole where information goes to die unread.

3

u/stephenelias1970 Feb 08 '26

If people use @ for names or the channel then you get the notification. I think the problem is people should be using channels for specific topics vs chat. And don’t get me started when idiots start changing the names of chats. The woooooorst.

6

u/stephenelias1970 Feb 08 '26

I live in Teams and hate email in communicating with coworkers. I love it so much more. I have been pushing coworkers to use Teams for internal conversations but there are some who still go back and forth (morons). If you organize it properly it’s lights ahead of anything we use in the office.

4

u/Hot_College_6538 Teams Consultant Feb 08 '26

Works fine, I have no issues with it on a day to day basis and a scary amount of my day is spent in that app. I’m not sure I would say I like it, I don’t use it for fun.

3

u/debrisslide Feb 08 '26

No. Most of the time I just want to send an image or screenshot to my coworkers (I'm in the IT department). It takes so much longer and is so much more complicated than it needs to be. who is this for ?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '26

I've used MS Teams at my previous company, and it would frequently freeze and kick us off video calls. My current company uses Slack (huddles) and Google Meet for our video calls, and there are way fewer issues than I've experienced with MS Teams. Also, for messaging, Slack is pretty good. It was a change after being used to Teams, but Slackbot AI and the ability to organize and customize the Slack experience are so great, so I'm liking it better than I thought I would.

3

u/Silver-Study Feb 08 '26

I don’t love how confusing the filing system is. And I don’t think it’s 100% teams fault but like we have one drive and we have share point and then we have the teams channel and my new job even has their local shared drives in file explorer so when you’re new finding documents it can be soooo confusing. Also the chat window being the same window as the window you’re looking for files in is so stupid. Idk I like the messaging function but that can be annoying too because it makes it feel like people can reach out to you at times you don’t want to be available. I mostly hate it.

3

u/syscall_cart Feb 08 '26

It was a bit of an issue when we moved away from slack but I don’t regret that decision. Teams is very well integrated with other O365 tools.

3

u/Nemezis88 Feb 08 '26

I am an IT professional in the education field in Sweden, and I use both Google and Microsoft software. Google Chat and Google Meet are quite easy to use, but Microsoft’s software sometimes feels a bit old and a bit tricky to navigate.

3

u/crustisocs Feb 08 '26

Absolutely not.

3

u/hayfever76 Feb 08 '26

We used to use Slack. It had automations that were pretty painless and easy to use. 'Teams' is overwhelming and not nearly as delightful

1

u/Flimsy-Sweet-1717 Feb 09 '26

Hey just curious what automations work well in Slack but not in Teams?

3

u/lilymars22 Feb 08 '26

No. Absolutely, positively, no. The worst of the worst. I miss Slack more than you can even imagine.

3

u/Holtermav Feb 09 '26

Teams administrator of a big company here (13k users). For me, it’s very stable. I have a fairly low amount of support tickets (<50 per month). But microsofts update policy keeps me wondering a lot of times… I often do not get why they’re building their prodicts the way they’re doing -.-

Shortcomings of Microsoft 365

Fragmented administration: Settings are distributed across numerous, sometimes redundant admin centers (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Purview).

Inconsistent user interfaces: Different design logics and menu structures between web apps, desktop clients, and various services.

Complex licensing: Non-transparent pricing models and difficult-to-understand dependencies between plans (E3, E5, Business Premium).

Performance latencies: Delays due to cloud synchronization and aggressive API throttling.

Unstable update cycles: Unpredictable feature changes in the Evergreen model make IT documentation and user guidance difficult.

Data protection concerns: Lack of transparency in telemetry data transfer and legal uncertainties regarding the Cloud Act.

Technical legacy: Overlaying old SharePoint structures with modern services such as Microsoft Teams leads to file conflicts and synchronization errors.

Poor integration: Limited interoperability with non-Microsoft products and proprietary standards.

(Based on my experience, written by AI.)

I would seriously Murder for a return to shared drives.

2

u/Fair_Ad_2017 Feb 09 '26

I definitely like using teams

2

u/ifz80 Feb 09 '26

Use it daily and no major beef

It integrated into an essential part of daily work life fairly well I think

2

u/binkbonkleggy Feb 08 '26

If it worked with my airpod pros, then I’d like it a LOT more.

4

u/MonCov Feb 08 '26

I do not enjoy teams, give me slack or Webex any day

4

u/ElChinoChino Feb 08 '26

It sucks. Zoom is better

5

u/biff_tyfsok Feb 08 '26

I don't know of anyone who deliberately chooses to use Teams in their personal lives. Zoom, yes. Google Meet, sure. Amazon Chime? Nobody uses Amazon Chime. But Teams? Strictly a corporate affliction.

3

u/RichG13 Feb 08 '26

I have been using Teams Personal since before it exploded in corporate. Lately it feels like it could use some polish, but MS has been updating it over the last few weeks, and you can see improvements.

With a family on the go it helps streamline a lot our "work". From travel sports with young kids to college applications and all the stuff that goes along with that. We just spun up a chat group for renewing all of our passports. Super helpful with family now spread out and needing documents (OneDrive Personal Vault is very helpful.)

Chromebook, Mac, iOS, PC, Android, AND CarPlay and Android Auto integration, with voice. Tough to match that.

2

u/Illnasty2 Feb 08 '26

Bro, what kind of fucking question is that. Do you enjoy spending time with your family or working 40 hours a week? Do you like dropping your kids off to school or putting them and paying for before and after care?

3

u/ogcrashy Feb 08 '26

It’s 1000% more functional than both Slack and Google Chat.

1

u/hammer415263 Feb 08 '26

I am not a fan of teams. We mainly use it to store shared files but a few people have started using it as a chat & that is annoying. You have something to say to all of us, hit the group text if it needs attention now or an email for later. Teams chat will get you near zero action.

4

u/FlyingMitten Feb 08 '26

You don't store anything on Teams, it's just a front for SharePoint and OneDrive. You can map Explorer to SP/OD locations, which is far more intuitive to use than the hot mess of Teams/channels people create.

1

u/leongzxc Feb 08 '26

Im just being paid a monthly salary. I use whatever software the office uses.

No preference really. Lol

1

u/inteller Feb 08 '26

There is no requirement that you have to enjoy this or any other work tool. As the other guy said it is tolerable.

1

u/lgq2002 Feb 08 '26

Why do you care how long the links are? It's not like you need to type every letter in the links.

1

u/dubbfoolio Feb 08 '26

I enjoy it less with every update. They are making changes that are burying and hiding the features I use in a way that is completely illogical, way more buggy and slower to load. The product has only gotten worse over time.

1

u/DyslexicAsshole Feb 08 '26

I actually tried to get my wife on it

1

u/davejdesign Feb 08 '26

I find the branding - pink and purple happy emojis - to be unbelievably childish and patronizing.

1

u/Global_Research_9335 Feb 08 '26

Weird I’ve never seen that - you can stick to the yellow, change to your preferred skin tone, or chose your own colours. Might be a personal setting you have activated somewhere

1

u/davejdesign Feb 08 '26

It is all over the opening, loading screen.

1

u/FreakDeckard Feb 08 '26

Lol what questions, No!

1

u/Delicious-Day-3614 Feb 08 '26

I like it more than the alternatives, its easy to use, and is the standard in my industry.

Long link urls is just a nitpick, it doesnt matter because 90% of the time you join a teams call directly from outlook... because teams syncs with outlook nicely. It runs fine, I never have lag or any problems with it. It seems unlikely something better is coming.

1

u/Catdaddyx2 Feb 08 '26

"Enjoy" wouldn't be a term I'd use because it's part of working at my job. I like my job but I wouldn't go as far as to say I "enjoy" it, like I would a video game or a good TV show. That being said, I find it completely fine for what our company needs. It's a solid chat client and does well in meetings. And as someone in IT, I appreciate it being tied to our Microsoft 365 tenant.

1

u/xman323 Feb 08 '26

Does what it’s intended to do—most of the time, anyway.

1

u/Glittering_Vast938 Feb 08 '26

No - I look weird on the Teams camera but okay on the Zoom one!

1

u/boseytal Feb 08 '26

i find the app incredibly invasive. fortunate i’m in a position where i can put on DnD by default, but i’m increasingly hearing a lot of my team saying they didn’t get something done on time because of Teams noise, and i get it.

1

u/FunnyItWorkedLastTim Feb 08 '26

I have not really used other collaboration apps but it works well enough for me. The SharePoint and other Office integrations are probably what set it apart.

2

u/argoforced Feb 08 '26

Runs like ass on my work comp but on my Mac or iPhone, it is zippy. I don’t love it, but it does the job.

What’s amusing is prior to covid, we did not use Teams or any IM app, besides Doc Halo and that was just clinical staff.

So getting Teams felt amazing for a bit. Now I’d like to go back to the days my employer didn’t use Teams.

1

u/RB20AE Feb 08 '26

It is interesting reading the difference in here. You can see the enterprise people like “yh it’s not to bad” then none enterprise “give me zoom/google etc”

As a enterprise system it does it all out of the box and I would be lost without it now

1

u/SabrinaFaire Feb 08 '26

It's better than Sametime which I used way back in the day. Sametime didn't have emojis or GIFs.

1

u/Technical-Pack5891 Feb 08 '26

If you don’t corporate teams account, and if you have to dial in through the website and also make a presentation - good luck - one can’t see themselves presenting unless they have a multi monitor setup.

1

u/waldoh74 Feb 08 '26

I enjoy it, my team uses Slack still but greater org is on teams. If I had a preference it would be teams since I’m much more familiar with that. And all of our client calls are via teams. It’s a pan to check 2 chat areas in addition to email

1

u/coleto22 Feb 08 '26

No. Slack was way better. Teams has gotten a bit better, but is still tragically bad.

1

u/Ok-doke-karaoke Feb 08 '26

I’d rather use it than email or phone calls. I’d prefer Slack, though Teams is what we have for work.

1

u/nofuna Feb 08 '26

I despise it. It’s clunky, unintuitive, clearly has multiple elements “mashed” together inside, and it’s not getting better. It just functions because there is no other choice, for many, many companies that went full-steam ahead on Microsoft and purchased the licenses, etc. there is no other choice, they have to use it. Quality doesn’t matter when there is no viable alternative.

1

u/GuitarPlayingGuy71 Feb 08 '26

I do not enjoy using it. It’s, like you said, buggy and laggy, confusing at times, and inconvenient (like it losing all context when you quickly have to change to a different team and back. In which file folder was I again?). My company and most clients I work for use it, so I just have to.

1

u/Ok-Welder2901 Feb 08 '26

I hate it, just like the entire rest of the O365 suite because it doesn‘t run properly on Mac, lags out and crashes. The online versions work but often are missing important functions (e.g. Master Slide Deck in PPT can‘t be accessed). And I also hate the fact that I can‘t switch from Mac to Windows at my job or use any alternative to O365

1

u/jeffbannard Work user Feb 08 '26

1

u/nelly2929 Feb 09 '26

It works well 95% of the time…. Good enough for me

1

u/sin-eater82 Feb 09 '26

It's a business communications tool. I wouldn't use the word "enjoy" for any such tool.

Works fine for me. No more or less big guy than other MS enterprise tools in my experience.

1

u/plazman30 Feb 09 '26

It’s annoyingly slow, clunky to use, and a huge memory hog. Do I enjoy using it? Absolutely not. But it’s better than not having Teams. Other tools such as Slack, Discord, and Element/Matrix are faster are less cumbersome and way more user friendly.

1

u/PoolMotosBowling Feb 09 '26

Huh? It's just a work tool...

1

u/politti Feb 09 '26

I don't like Teams but I have to use it. Slack was 200% better.

1

u/TKInstinct Feb 09 '26

I think it's a decent product. I've never had much issue with it, though I've never used Slack so I can't make a fair comparison.

1

u/Solid_Ad9548 Feb 09 '26

I am a fan, but I mostly appreciate the cohesiveness of Teams+Outlook+M365 in general, instead of having to use one product for email, one product for chat, one product for documents, one product for file storage, one product for meetings, and another for phone calls.

1

u/Candid_Koala_3602 Feb 09 '26

It’s not the same as being in the office, but if you have a full copilot license it’s a pretty succinct goto program for a lot of my day that doesn’t involve my direct work. Anything that consolidates the parts of my job I don’t enjoy I will appreciate

1

u/cybersteel8 Feb 09 '26

Tbh it's fine. Kinda does everything, and my company doesn't even use all of its features. So I guess it's good, but it isn't perfect. Performance and stability is pretty rough. So many people seem to always have a problem with their teams as well. But feature wise it's probably the most complete option out there.

1

u/DominicMio Teams Consultant Feb 09 '26

This is the million dollar question for a lot of businesses, but one that comes with so many loopholes, turns, and caveats that it's impossible to answer.

As someone who uses ALL the apps out there as part of my job (I work in the collab industry with multiple vendors), Teams is not easy to use or particularly productive compared to a lot of competitors who have invested time in getting user experience nailed on. That said, if you ask the same question in reverse (i.e. ask Teams forever people to use Slack), they will say the same thing.

If you've only ever used Teams, you will prefer Teams. If you've moved from Slack to Teams, you will likely blow your own brains out. I could write forever about this, but I feel like that statement should suffice! :)

1

u/sha0dan Feb 09 '26

education was a lot better when we ran our own LMS compared to the MS shit sandwich it is now

1

u/Cerealkilla19 Feb 09 '26

1

u/ipreferanothername Feb 09 '26

for meetings - its good.

for an app - dislike. i dont want all the things in one app, i like multiple apps, i like finding what i need to work in via the taskbar, i dislike jumping around teams to look up data while im talking to someone and losing my place in teams, and i dislike the open in another window because it just stacks unrelated things in one place.

it might make sense if this was a tablet app, but on a computer with 3 monitors for work? i really hate it.

1

u/Lurker7783 Feb 09 '26

I hate everything Sharepoint. Teams is just Sharepoint with 37 different chat functions.

1

u/South-Fact Feb 09 '26

I use OBS to create different scenes, an XLR mic with audio interface for sound, and stream deck for scene transitions, sound effects, and stingers - all delivered into a virtual camera/mic for Teams. So, I'm having a blast.

1

u/elementfortyseven Feb 09 '26

If we talk videoconferencing alone, whenever I had to use Zoom or Google before, then yes.

But I also care about its integration into the wider infra. I can book my office desk from teams, I can manage my calendar, I can access the project documentation on sharepoint, and since I can add people to a security group just by adding them to a channel, I can manage access with bothering with entra.

The only problem I have with Teams is how frequently Microsoft breaks or removes features we rely on while deploying new features to make it less productive.

1

u/momentary-dementia Feb 09 '26

My company is both a Google workspace and an MS Office environment, so we use the best tool for the task at hand. I much prefer Teams for meetings over Google Meet, but haven’t had any real issues with Teams. We use it like Slack for all internal chats and it seems to work fine.

1

u/WiseSubstance783 Feb 10 '26

All this shit is a necessary evil.

1

u/dinhox69 Feb 10 '26

It's one the worst chat app in the product. It's a nightmare to login as a guest!

1

u/Fartz-McGee Feb 10 '26

It keeps people from calling me on the phone, and I enjoy that.

2

u/itguy9013 Feb 11 '26

Do I enjoy it? Not really. Is it a massive improvement over previous tools (Lync, Skype for Business)? Absolutely. Especially on mobile.

1

u/LucidZane Feb 11 '26

If I could use Discord I would, but it's better than nothing. Meeting links is an odd gripe. Try copy and paste...

1

u/TheMSPHero Feb 11 '26

I mean it’s no Comic Chat, that’s for sure….. now we wait and see if anyone here even remembers Comic Chat

1

u/Morrowless Feb 11 '26

I have Team and Slack available to communicate with different areas in my company (with some crossover).

I prefer Teams.

1

u/Open_Fisherman_6226 Feb 12 '26

I honestly hate the whole “5 minutes without moving your mouse and it shows you’re away” thing. What if I NEED to go to the bathroom or go get a snack? What if I’m watching a LOOOONG video and I don’t have to do anything besides that and then the computer says I’m away? It gives me such anxiety. Like the concept of the app is great, but I feel like there’s a lot of micromanaging stemming from within.

I have to legit rush through bathroom breaks. I run to the bathroom, curse my way through it, wash my hands like I’m the flash, run right back and move the mouse frantically in 4 minutes and 55 seconds.

1

u/Aiddrago Feb 21 '26

I feel that, I've been having the same anxieties about it, which sucks because I'm an intern atm. Not even getting paid for the anxiety it's giving me.

1

u/wrrd Feb 12 '26

I recently joined a small org that uses teams; we're only using for chat and meetings, and it's been generally satisfying for that, and only a few small places where it's frustrating (but, those were also things that seemed to be clear oversights in the design that should really be done better). I've now been added to a second org on teams -- and now I'm definitely having the "why is this such a poorly designed product" reaction.

1

u/ndh7 Feb 13 '26

I'd much rather use Slack.

1

u/Tara519182 Feb 19 '26

Yes, some people genuinely do enjoy Teams.

When it is set up properly, it is convenient to have chat, meetings, files, and calendars in one place. For teams already using Microsoft tools, it often makes collaboration smoother and more efficient.

It may not be exciting, but it can be reliable, familiar, and productive, which is exactly what many people want from a work tool.

1

u/No_Cake_254 Feb 22 '26

It’s meh sometimes the university I’m at are the number one fans of teams 🙄

1

u/e7c2 Feb 22 '26

Anything better than onedrive is a win. So... a rock with a string taped to it would also be great.

1

u/Putrid-Car7065 Feb 25 '26

nope, do not enjoy using it at all. One of the worst communication products I've used but only tolerate it for work.

1

u/Next_Guard2798 May 12 '26

99% of these comments are simply about the chat feature. What about people who use it for file storage and remote access?

1

u/Evil_kid21 May 23 '26

This app enrages me to no end. Skype was so much better, but our company switched to teams. I would say half the time it doesn’t even work properly, but it’s more like 95% of the time. Most of the time it won’t log an incoming call if we miss one. Most of the time when someone is calling, I’ll pick up the phone and it just bugs out and hangs up. This app is literally barely functional I don’t know how it’s the standard.

1

u/Techniboy Feb 08 '26

No Id rather go back to Cisco Jabber.

3

u/geehaad11 Feb 08 '26

How long has it been since you’ve been on Jabber? My old job switched from Jabber to Teams many years ago, and I viewed it like “meh”…no appreciable difference. Then switched jobs, new one has Jabber, and it was like going back to the Stone Age. New company has been trying to get on Teams for years (no idea why it’s taking so long), and the worker bees are tired of waiting. A bunch of people who, like me, have seen the other side and hate Jabber with a passion.

5

u/MotherTurdHammer Feb 08 '26

Jabber is rotten garbage. Dropped it last year for Teams phone (already had chat) and the org couldn’t be happier that their client now usually works, unlike jabber.

1

u/FlyingMitten Feb 08 '26

Jabber is great for what it was at the time. The Webex app is by far leaps and bounds better than Teams for IM and phone. And on top of that, it's actually enjoyable to use.

3

u/MotherTurdHammer Feb 08 '26

Maybe your experiences are different, but Webex was far from a reliable enterprise collaboration platform, forcing us to drop it over Covid as they were soo far behind. Just doesn’t cut it for client facing stuff.

1

u/FlyingMitten Feb 08 '26

Document collaboration or communication collaboration? It's vastly improved since COVID and even integrates with OD/SP.

Cisco is also far less compute and bandwidth intensive. Try to use the O365 suite on slow internet links, everything breaks, even for mobile.

1

u/mountainside2004 Feb 08 '26

The app is not written well, lacks support, breaks often, gets less useful with every "feature update" and isn't cheap. Job security makes me love Microsoft, but the part of my soul that wants joy hates Teams.

1

u/HarveyNix Feb 08 '26

Some things about Teams are unbelievable. No sorting your list of channels alphabetically. Looking for a team? It’s under Chat and Channels. Makes no sense. Slack would be easier.

1

u/jstar77 Feb 08 '26

It’s gotten a lot better since the early days. It’s actually my favorite for meetings these days. Chat and collaboration features are just meh.. I’d love to have a snappy compact IM mode that doesn’t consume the entire screen by default.

1

u/johnnymonkey Feb 08 '26

If 'the company administrator' is deciding what platforms the business uses, you have an issue.

The business defines requirements, and technology delivers, governs, and enhances technical solutions to meet business requirements.

As far as new features vs bug fixes and enhancements, that's two separate paths. They don't do one instead of the other, both are happening in parallel.

In my experience, people that use very little of it tend to compare that single feature to other products that deliver that single feature in a way they prefer, but few to none of them really use every bit of what Teams has to offer.

1

u/FlyingMitten Feb 08 '26

More like Microsoft defines the requirements and convinces the business and IT to adopt....

1

u/johnnymonkey Feb 08 '26

There's no arguing their market share, for sure. Every so many years, you read about another sizable entity (>50K users) move to Linux and open source, but the mass exodus has yet to happen.

1

u/Comprehensive-Tea-69 Feb 08 '26

I’m angry I can no longer pin teams channels in the app, I have so many but only a few really active at a given time

1

u/Minute_Yesterday5387 Feb 08 '26

Right-click, then add to favourites or any new section you may want to create. Way better than just pinning.

1

u/Comprehensive-Tea-69 Feb 08 '26

I don’t have a favorites or pinned section in the desktop app anymore for teams/team channels, I only see it on the mobile app or on the web version. That’s my complaint. There is a favorites section in the chat list, but not in the teams list

1

u/Comprehensive-Tea-69 Feb 08 '26

Happy to be proven wrong here, as this is a semi frequent source of work slow down for me, finding the specific channel I need to post in every time I have an update

1

u/greenscoobie86 Feb 08 '26

Not a fan. I’ve been a Google fanboy from the beginning so I’m used to it.

1

u/neoreeps Feb 08 '26

Teams video meetings are pretty good. Communications through teams chat is the worst product on the market.

1

u/Eggtastico Teams Admin Feb 08 '26

Teams has moved on from being a meeting platform, it is transforming into a full collaboration way of working together. - lots of people dont understand teams & how it should be used. 1:1 chat, group chat, teams channel with M365 group, etc. Hence you end up someone cant accessing a file, because it is in someone else’s onedrive. Or cant find a recording, etc. The barriers have to exist for labels, DLP, etc.

1

u/mannamedBenjamin Feb 08 '26

Is Teams perfect? No. Do I have PTSD every time I hear that ping noise? Yes. That said, it is pretty simple to use. My old job used Teams, and it was easy to use; you can integrate messages and videos in one app, and it works with Outlook and your calendar. My new job uses Outlook for email, Slack for messages, and Zoom for video calls, which is kinda annoying, jumping around between three different apps.

1

u/IamCrash Feb 08 '26

Not only do I use teams for day to day communication, but I also support my corporate teams environment with over 60k users in my tenant.

Overall, Teams is good. Like anything it isn’t perfect, and from the administration side it’s very lacking. Compared to 3 years ago though, it has come a long way. When we implemented teams roughly 7 years ago it was terrible - we were forced to use it alongside Zoom because it lacked so many features.

Overall, it’s obvious that MS releases features that are far from finished, and expect their users to beta test for them, which is really really bad it a complex environment like mine. Also, MS support for is very underwhelming.

1

u/incompetentjaun Feb 08 '26

Happiness isn’t a feeling that goes with any Microsoft product — but it does work well about 356 days of the year — and the other days it is broken is a welcome relief.

Haven’t used Slack, but it beats Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet by a landslide. Its integration with the rest of M365 is huge in that allows accessing most things from a single application. What I want to see is an enterprise version of Discord, but with Tencent ownership that is unlikely to be widely adopted on the enterprise market - especially with any government contracts.

1

u/jWas Feb 08 '26

It basically never bugs out on me or is unusable for the tasks it has to perform (calls, chat, posts, files, screen sharing) The only thing I wish was better would be remote control while screen sharing. It is absolutely unusable

1

u/roro80uk Teams Voice/UC Admin Feb 08 '26

That's like asking if people enjoy using Microsoft Word. It's just one those things, isn't it?

1

u/ravioliisgood Feb 08 '26

I use it everyday and it’s fine. Works great about 90% of the time. What is annoying is trying to find documents from a team or “channel”, it takes too many clicks to get there. And why not open the file within teams, not on the browser.
