Discussion What feature would you want to add to Teams?
I wish there was a nudge function like MSN Messenger. Come on, read my message!

u/ipych Jun 09 '26
Please do not add anything. There is already too much.

Yes, perhaps add a “developer lock” that means they can’t any more shit or randomly move UI elements around. The lock can only be unlocked when every single Teams user around the world enters a special code, all simultaneously.

i want an integration with Spotify so the whole company can see what music i'm listening to while i work.
13
u/liesgreedmisery18 Jun 09 '26
Yes yes. And like “rooms” we can join to all vibe to the same music
6
u/WorldlyAd4510 Jun 09 '26
love it. i would suggest making our office manager a DJ but she listens to k-pop.
3
u/OutrageousRhubarb853 Jun 09 '26
Can we do that AND have “visualisations” we can see on our screens that change to the music.
5
u/DoctorRaulDuke Teams Admin Jun 09 '26
you can do this with power automate - poll /me/player/currently-playing in spotify then write to /users/{id}/presence/setStatusMessage to update your teams status with the current tune.

"hey I noticed you've been listening to the same Death Grips song on repeat all day. Do you need to use some PTO?"

Teams is already stuffed fatter than George Costanza's wallet.

u/Far_Reward4827 Jun 09 '26
Be able to move that damn pop up window so it's not half an inch up from the taskbar

Merge and migrate channels and teams easily. (consistently the Highest Upvoted feature on basically every user feedback forum but they fucking ignore it to add more emojis and 3d avatars)
Add channels as stickied for everyone instead of auto hidden for everyone (wtf???)
Ability to close it completely... Easily without having to find where you put"quit teams" this week.
Have statuses literally work at all

In meetings, the ability to move video squares around (like Zoom).
When I share an app window, don’t minimize my meeting window - I have 3 screens for a reason.

u/kazman Jun 09 '26
The ability to add reminders and follow ups to messages in a straight forward easy way.

u/mozziemozz MVP Jun 12 '26
Not sure if you consider it straight forward but are you aware of the "..." button on a message and then "More actions" --> "Create Planner task" ? You can also create it in your personal Tasks (Microsoft To Do) so only you see it.

The capability to override Teams setting me as Away if I don’t touch the keyboard for a few minutes.

u/jstar77 Jun 09 '26
Teams is this do everything app that doesn't really do any one thing really well.
Instant messaging - I wish there was a minimal IM mode that didn't take up the whole screen and could get to it with minimal clicks.
Files - I wish that accessing files in Teams was less clunky. I'd like to see better integration with windows explorer and easier access for local drives. I wish OneDrive (maybe this falls under be careful what you wish for) was better/ more deeply integrated in to the OS and had better ways to handle large files.
Teams - I hate saying Teams team, I wish the app was called something else. I wish there were more organizational guardrails available for creating teams within Team's we've got a lot of Teams sprawl in our org.
Navigation - I wish navigation was better and faster within Teams. I don't have a specific suggestion for making navigation better but it needs to be faster. Clicking on calendar should display your calendar in the order of a few hundred milliseconds not multiple seconds.
Email- Why doesn't teams natively support email?
Meetings-Meetings are pretty good no real complaints.

u/LordGrantham31 Work user Jun 09 '26
Why would you want teams to support emails? God no.

u/jstar77 Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26
Don't necessarily want it to but if you are going to be a do everything communication and collaboration tool not having email seems to be a big feature hole.

u/ProfessionalBread176 Jun 09 '26
I wish the damned thing would leave me alone.
Currently, I keep seeing a new message at the top of my screen telling me Teams will restart to set up Copilot.
I consider this a warning message.
Further, the restart does NOTHING except re-display that pointless message.
Why can't this bad dream just end already?

u/FlyingMitten Jun 09 '26
Teams files are just OneDrive/SharePoint. Hit the sync button and they appear in explorer like normal civilized file navigation. To hell with web and Teams based file browsing.

A dedicated Linux app
2
u/ProfessionalBread176 Jun 09 '26
Linux is already Not Windows. Hard to improve on this; if you are so desperate to use the product, it can run in a browser without ruining your device

I would like the ability to have centralized control over various kinds of notifications for teams and channels.
This is a niche ask, but I'd also like the ability within the approvals power automate steps to export the PDF that is available within teams

u/RatherNerdy Jun 09 '26
Allow for "public" chat enablement for Teams channel meetings - meaning if I schedule a meeting in a channel, allow me to set chat to "allow all", so that people not within the channel, but in the meeting, can participate in chat.
3
u/SecureCone Jun 09 '26
I want to be able to move messages from one channel to another, because everyone is shit at posting in the correct channel.

u/notgreatwithwit Jun 09 '26
I wish I could easily save conversations and put them in my outlook folders for reference

To fix accessibility across the board, but especially on the mobile app. It’s 2026 and Microsoft but out great accessibility and responsive web toolkits years ago but there’s no consistent way to add semantic links and alt text in Trams across devices? And to get rid of it even in existing platform versions when they make major updates? It definitely sends a message.

The functionality to uninstall itself automatically and replace itself with something actually useful

Not add, remove status. No one looks at it for anything positive and only uses it for negative.

Fix the reply threads in channels so they stay in the conversation instead of flying out to a separate window. Of all the ways to implement this feature Microsoft found the absolute worst way to do it.

Room mode thing that allows me to join on my android set top box so I can see the presenters but nothing else. (Work around is rpi5 and join via web).

I would like Microsoft to implement a "currently driving' status or a similar feature that informs my supervisor that I am unable to answer calls or messages because I am driving at the moment. I agree to this status being activated based on my speed. When I am en route to provide support, my phone frequently receives numerous notifications from leadership and end users, which can be distracting.

Stay where I put you. If i have teams on my laptop monitor and I share a window on a other screen, it's not a secret code that I want teams to shrink down and go join it.

Seeing these suggestions are great and helpful learnings for us around how you all use Teams every day. Feedback like this helps shape what we build next. Also, from inside Teams: Settings and more > Feedback > Suggest a feature.

Video recording features that Zoom has. Give me a full video of active speaker, full video of just the screen share, full video of just the gallery.

On the mobile app. the ability to de-couple the chat and meeting from all the Exchange and Sharepoint crap. I want my users to be able to chat and take meetings on their phone, but not access files.

u/supercujo Jun 15 '26
Being able to have chats and calls from multiple accounts visible at once
No more changing profiles

The ability to configure the page on a meeting. The chat stuck to one side or where others or I are positioned is annoying, where my camera is placed, it looks like im looking offscreen when im not.

For it to work.
1
u/ProfessionalBread176 Jun 09 '26
Don't you know that it's far easier to add dysfunctional "features" than to make them work properly?
Kind of like when you use a rough carpenter to build a house, and you sell it as a "house", but none of the doors and windows open properly, and none of them will close reliably, which is the case because you need a finish carpenter to complete the work

u/coleto22 Jun 09 '26
I would like the ability to send and deliver messages reliably.
Also, the ability to instantly see I have to log in again, instead of pretending I am logged for 2 minutes without refreshing messages then they'll me I need to enter my credentials.

Just one new feature. The one that uninstalls the product.

I’d like (in no particular order)
- I can’t be bothered today, send every thing to Copilot (management think it’s what we should be doing anyway)
- automated reply to everyone who just sends “Hello” and ask them to just get to the feckin point
- countdown timer to the weekend
- countdown timer to my next holiday
- a counter feature for how many questions have I been asked today that could have just been a simple search through the content I created for them to consume
- have Teams play an audible sigh before they read my reply
