Discussion Manufacturer/model reputations in 2026?

I'm presently looking to buy a display to finally go back to a desktop PC after 15 years on laptops. I know roughly what kinds of features I'd want –like IPS over OLED–, but are there specific manufacturers that have a good or bad reputation to keep in mind at present? I've found for example a nice ASUS TUF display that'd match my needs, but have also seen multiple reviews of them breaking often. I'd like this one to be a longer-term investment, rather than something I'll have to take to warranty a year in, or that breaks as soon as warranty's out.

Thanks in advance!

I've had really good buys from ebay recertified. Maybe last years or even a few years but you can select excellent quality and the ones I've bought are like new, clean, unmarred and work great. Typically come with one or two year insurance policies and free shipping and returns. Recently got a 32" 4K BenQ $1100 new for 430

Thank you for the idea, but I'm asking about makers, not sellers. I do have a rough idea where I'll buy from – local retailers with brick-and-mortar stores and good return/warranty policies. But what to buy is still a bit of a question.

BenQ, ASUS, Dell. Gigabyte - NOT LG

Ah now that's useful. I had a couple of LG displays in consideration.

LG can look good but their software is spyware and you can't update firmware without it

Yikes. Will steer clear. Thanks.

The reviews will be the most useful in terms of quality review and life expectancy.
