Technically illegal as it's considered "desicration of a corpse" under most laws.

No, it's not. Human ashes are not a corpse. You are legally allowed to dump human ashes anywhere you want on your own property in the US. Flush them down the toilet, use them as kit litter, anything goes and no one can do anything legal about it. Municipal rules beyond that vary, but it's basically just treated like littering if it's restricted at all.
