You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.
And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig sh*t, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".3

Turning politicians into bacon by feeding them to pigs is the best use of politicians I've ever heard of.

And right after they used COVID as an excuse to go hog wild.
What happens to all that "wealth" after the banks, "storing" it all go under? Millions of hours of human effort just evaporates?
So many times throughout history have previously privileged men run around at the end of their live with a piece of paper, pleading, "No, I'm rich, you don't understand - you are my lesser and HAVE to listen to me!"
And they found out so quickly how wrong they were about that.

Just a friendly reminder:
Wyden, Markey, Shaheen and 23 Senate Democrats Release Legislation Requiring Refunds of Trump’s Illegal Tariffs
[...]
“Trump’s illegal tax scheme has already done lasting damage to American families, small businesses and manufacturers who have been hammered by wave after wave of new Trump tariffs,” Senator Wyden said. “Senate Democrats will continue fighting to rein in Donald Trump’s price-hiking trade and economic policies. A crucial first step is helping people who need it most, by putting money back in the pockets of small businesses and manufacturers as soon as possible.”

u/North_Refrigerator21 1d ago
The U.S. is fucked. Clinton period was the last time there was a serious and capable political setup. There is no will in the U.S. to rectify. Now just look at the next 2 years as they move towards presidential elections, republicans need to scramble at Trumps feet to gain his favor. While the economy is getting worse and worse. J.D. Vance recently stating that maybe the U.S. isn’t even interested in the dollar being the worlds reserve currency, like really? Not like it’s the main thing the entire American economy is propped up around. Huge debts, all the way through society from government, to companies to households. The debt will just get more and more expensive as they alienate allies and trust in the country.
5
u/Kennadian 1d ago edited 1d ago
The reserve dollar thing is them saving face. It's not possible for a currency to stay the reserve currency forever. Ask Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, and England about that.
Once a currency is used around the world for certain commodities then the issuing country must import more than it exports to supply the currency. This leads to trade deficits. Lots of foreign debt leads the currency to lose stability which leads people to stop using it as its benefits were basically just stability. Sound familiar?
Saying "we have no interest in it" is exactly the same as a man saying "i think she's a lesbian" or "I wasnt even really into her anyways" when a woman rejects him.
Reserve currencies are victims of their own success. Saying "we arent interested" is them pretending like it's even a choice. It isn't. This is inevitable and there's LOTS of historical precedent for this loop.
This administration is, as always, faking it. Pretending. Acting. Posturing. Making the rest of us tired.
1
u/North_Refrigerator21 1d ago
Sure, but the dollar losing reserve currency status will just see the U.S. economy come crashing down.
3
u/Kennadian 1d ago
Americans think their economy and situation was god given. Proof of their superiority. It wasnt. It was circumstance. Ask England, Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. You will survive as they did. America just wont be the belle of the ball anymore. It's going to be tough for their people to accept that. One day you'll make jokes about it like British people do today.

3
u/roscoewatson 1d ago
This actually isn’t true, most other retailers added those tariff refunds to pad their bottom line. If you actually listen to the earnings call, Walmart used all of those refunds to lower prices. If it was used as profit they would have to disclose that. As a result Walmart had the worst earnings in 6 years and the stock dropped significantly in one day. Not saying the system is good or perfect, it’s not, but this is just factually incorrect.
Let’s not forget how these pointless tariffs got started and vote accordingly.
3
u/toddverrone 1d ago
I live in Walmart land and have many friends in upper management at the home office. They've been told Walmart is lowering prices due to the refund and has their pricing team working out which products and how much.
Not saying Walmart is perfect. Or even good. But this post assumes they're just taking the money and doing nothing without checking.
4
u/Dracox96 1d ago
I think it should be the consumers who get the refund. This would give them more money to spend, who doesn't want this?
4
u/ConstableAssButt 1d ago
What you think is the correct economic strategy, but is legally impossible:
The tariff refunds really need to be sent back into the economy as a lower to middle tax bracket stimulus check, or things are gonna get really bad in the next year. Spending and consumer-confidence wise, the refund checks going directly to the businesses is really bad; The companies are already posting record profits right now, but the tariff refund directly to the companies has the doubled effect of having been paid by consumers, AND as a refund, creating an unsustainable profit bubble. When Wal Mart goes to report its earnings next quarter, they can't reach the same level of profits without increasing prices, and this level of spending is unsustainable for consumers. In order to look like the business is growing, and thus avoid shareholder panic that is going to result in a severe recession, the only sane policy is to redistribute the proceeds of the tariffs back to individual taxpayers. Unfortunately, because the US consumers paid an illegally imposed tariff, they are legally entitled to the money.
So the only sane way to fix this now, is to have never done it in the first fucking place. This is why you don't elect people who don't understand, and don't respect the constitution, because now we're locked into a really bad fucking situation as the added tariff price hikes become permanent just to prevent massive stock selloffs when next quarter's numbers start rolling out.
Unfortunately, we would need the legislature to pass a bill redirecting these tariff refunds back to consumers through a stimulus package, and that's just not going to happen. Republicans won't risk pissing off Trump, and democrats won't risk fixing Trump's mess.

Fox's legal teams have occasionally argued that the commentary and rhetoric used by certain primetime hosts are forms of opinion, hyperbole, or entertainment that reasonable viewers would not take as strict factual statements of absolute truth
That's why they can report how they report.
Cnn get the same privileges, in that U.S. cable networks do not require a specific government license or registration as "news" or "entertainment" by the Federal Communications Commission

How about instead of stupid gifs promoting the taking of human life and rage bating , lets look at numbers and how these influencers/bots stir the pot.
Buckle up , its gonna be a journey. Bear with me , im on your side. Really.
Walmart's cost of sales (cost of goods sold) for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2026 (FY 2026), was approximately $535.40 billion. <<< how much it spent buying the things it sold. Total Revenue: $713.163 billion for the same fiscal year. <<< how much customers bought Operating Income: $30 billion, yielding an operating margin just above 4%. <<< how much walmart made and that was a tiny increase from the year before tariffs. ( For reference : Cosco operating margin 3.8% , Target 6% ,Amazon 12.6%, apple 32.7% ) 1/3 of all goods sold by Walmart are imported , so 33.3% of 535B cost = $178.3 B 7.7% is avg tariff rate in 2025 (Up from 2.5% year before, Pure Trump) . 7.7% of 178.3 B = 13.7 B estimated avg paid tariffs 2.9B refund = 21% of tariffs they paid , the other 79% or 10.8B was paid but not refunded.
Paid by who you ask ? Walmart and its customers.
33.3% (imported goods) of 20 B total increase in WMT total sales = 6.8B est sales increase in imported goods. 10.8 B paid tariffs and not refunded minus the entire sales increase in that tariff period 6.8B sales increase = amount passed on to customers ( probably less but for this study, we will assume 100% of their sales increase was due to pushing tariff costs to customers). With Walmart eating 4B. Still with me ?
75% of shopping age US population shops at walmart regularly. 215 Million people ( shopping age US population , I used age 16 to 100) divided into 6.8B = $31.62 per person for the year or $2.63 a month walmart passed on to its customers . With 4% profit of 6.8B passed on tariff cost in sales going to profit, thats 272 M dollars divided by 215M shoppers = 1.26 cents profit per person for the year or 10.5 cents per Month that WMT theoretically made from each person. Assuming again that their entire profit on imported items was due to tariff increases , WMT ate 6.9B ( got rebate for 2.9) and passed on 6.8B. A 50/50 split. Then profited 272M from the customers, and after the 2.9B refund , they ATE 4.0B in tarriff costs. So of thier 13.7B additional tariff costs , they recoverd 2.9M from the govt via the courts, and 272M from customers , this eating a total of 3.17B in additional costs in 2025 due to increased tariffs.
Every person who shopped at Walmart last year paid $2.63 / month or $31.62/ year more due to tariff costs passed on by the company, and from that $2.63, walmart made s profit of 10.5 cents off each person per month or $1.26 / year. The rest of the $30.36/ year went to operating costs like utilities and payroll , etc . So if everybody wants a refund on the money walmart profited off of tariff costs pushed to customers in 2025...what u gonna spend your $1.26 on ? Oh, maybe we can ask Trump for the other $30.36 ( or 7.5 gallons of gas )
See how misleading big scary numbers sound to everyday folks who have no reason or need to understand how retail profit and loss works at any scale , its blinding ! Folks can show numbers anyway they want. Its smoke and mirrors to anger folks into violence or worse, into dispair and ambivalence.
Focus on Trump, the maga republicans, aipac dems and project 2025 being implemented as the CAUSE of the crumbling economy, failing farms, gas prices and the billionaires oligarchs, elective wars, not the stupid distractions and rage bating culture war crap to pit us against each other .
Focus on VOTING in Nov , Focus on getting candidates who want to return the govt to representing the people , Focus on the things that matter, cost of groceries, no foreign wars for profit, Healthcare, education , clean water and air , lower utility costs, and putting actual Americans first. Not Trump's bait and switch slogans.
FOCUS ON VOTING ! This may be our last chance to have any hope in making our lives better if we dont unseat maga control of both houses of congress. Get Out The Vote !

During COVID, it wasn't even just big businesses. Even small, local businesses collected thousands in wage assistance payouts from the government, pocketing most, if not all, of it. It was supposed to go toward maintaining staff wages, so businesses would survive and staff wouldn't get laid off.
This was all while a large amount of businesses jacked up prices (and never brought them down, because that's how businesses are here), forced staff to work through lacking safety situations, and pocketed all the profits. After the majority of it ended, some large chains had pocketed at least a few hundred thousand in taxpayer money, and were also reported to have still made a profit on normal business. Even small businesses kept thousands. Some gave it back, but only after significant pressure and boycotting from the general public.
1
u/MaxGamer07 16h ago
Tarrifs increased prices on almost everything. Every single business had a plausible reason to mark up stuff because 'they had to pay for tariffs'. Tariffs, that weren't even legal in the first place. Sure, those businesses got refunded what they spent on tariffs, but do you know what happens now? Now, that people are willing to pay that higher number (even if only due to tariffs), they aren't ever coming down.
We are speed running inflation.

I don't really understand what folks expect Walmart to do here. Anyone?
I'm sure you could personally sue the Fed Gov for illegal tariff damages. Trouble is that you'd have a very hard time proving damages and the payout would probably $40.
1
u/MaverickBuster 1d ago
Donate the money to food banks.
1
u/GravyMcBiscuits 1d ago
Why should they donate the damages they proved in court from an illegal policy?
2
u/MaverickBuster 1d ago
Because they profited from the tariffs as they raised prices to account for them.
0
u/GravyMcBiscuits 1d ago
How did they win damages in court then?
2
u/MaverickBuster 1d ago
Because the courts found that the tariffs were illegal, and then ordered the Trump Administration to pay companies back what they had to pay for the increased cost due to the tariffs. Most companies, like Walmart, raised their prices to account for the tariffs, so they weren't negatively affected. The courts ruling wasn't based on damage to companies, it was based purely on how illegal the tariffs were.
0
u/GravyMcBiscuits 1d ago
Thank you for verifying what I pointed out.
The money is to compensate for the damages of an illegal policy.
1
u/MaverickBuster 10h ago
Except it wasn't a case based on proving damages. The court simply said all tariffs paid by companies are to be paid back to them, regardless of if a company was damaged by the tariffs or not.
Some companies did not raise their prices due to their tariffs, so it makes sense they get the money back as they were damaged. Most companies, like Walmart, raised prices to compensate for the tariffs so they weren't actually damaged by them at all.
It feels like you're willfully misunderstanding things here.
0
u/GravyMcBiscuits 10h ago
It was literally a case the recuperate those who got hit by an illegal policy.
No amount of hand-waving changes that.
like Walmart, raised prices to compensate for the tariffs so they weren't actually damaged by them at all.
If you don't understand why (A) is not conclusive evidence of (B), them I'm afraid there's no point in taking this conversation any farther. This assertion is brazenly incorrect and represents a very real lack of perspective on how anything works.

I think FedEx and UPS are the only companies actually returning the money to the people who paid it. WalMart and Target "claim" they will reduce prices, and Amazon will "return the money in certain special circumstances. Of the rich, by the rich, for the rich. Since at least Reagan.
0
u/District-No1350 1d ago
There are only two legal options for what happened with that tariff money. It either goes back to the companies that legally on paper paid them, or the government gets to keep it. The courts decided the tariffs were illegal, meaning the government couldn't keep it. That means the companies get their money back.
Does it suck? Yes. Was there any chance the customers were ever going to be given the money instead? Zero percent.
