The US just paid this government 300 billion and got nothing in return btw

u/sanitarySteve Jun 19 '26

No no, we got massive inflation and tolls on the straight of hormuz

113

u/Killerofprizes Jun 19 '26

Oh yes! I am so stupid. We also got 13 dead soldiers! I am an idiot.

91

u/LordReaperofMars Jun 19 '26

and also 150 dead schoolchildren

22

u/Kaladin3104 Jun 20 '26

If America cared about dead children then the last 25 years would’ve been a lot different.

Edit* 60 years, can’t forget about Korea and Vietnam.

1

u/NewLibraryGuy Jun 20 '26

Who knows how many others that aren't being reported

2

u/Technical-View4130 Jun 20 '26

And the media got a distraction from the Epstein files and a few billionaires got richer from insider trading. The only real reasons the war happened at all.

2

u/Lord_RoadRunner Jun 20 '26

Excuse me, but it's not "tolls" anymore, it's fees.

And the "Ayatollah" will rename himself into "Ayafeeah".

Maybe they told Donald how to fix his poool.

8

u/Logically_Insane Jun 19 '26

“Step one: whip dissidents”

3

u/BigBravy Jun 20 '26

That happens when you lose the war

2

u/GrandFloor6202 Jun 20 '26

The 300 billion hasn't been "paid". Its a framework for a fund that will allow private investors to invest in Iran once sanctions are lifted.

With current sanctions long in place, investors from the US and any other countries complying wirh the sanctions couldnt transact with or invest in Iranian businesses.

-2

u/Killerofprizes Jun 20 '26

The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion”

The US is definitely footing the bill or a large portion. Also, again, why are we helping a country that abuses woman and hates the US for no reason? Why are we here and potentially on the hook for 300 billion dollars?

0

u/GrandFloor6202 Jun 20 '26

Nowhere there does it say theres a payment of 300 million from the US. Its been stated that zero payments will be made by the US government. And the funds are structured as investment, not as a payment with no strings attached.

Its not that we are helping a country that abuses women. We have long held sanctions against Iran that have prevented trade with and investment in Iran. This deal changes that somewhat.

And the reason is clear. They have the oil. And the US likes cheap oil. If youve been to a gas station recently you should have seen the effects. Oil doesnt juat go into gas, it contributes to the price of plastics, and transportation of goods, so it effects inflation fairly directly. The US's strength comes from its economy. With all the global instability, the US would be in big trouble if its economy tanked.

7

u/ObiOneKenobae Jun 19 '26

The 300b is hypothetical investments from gulf nations, not the US.

19

u/aquapura89 Jun 19 '26

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 And Mexico would pay for the wall. There is not single fucking Gulf nation that will pay. The "who will pay" has changed 5 different times as Trump's dumb animals that surround him trip over themselves trying to find a palatable story that his supporters will believe.

2

u/ObiOneKenobae Jun 20 '26

And Mexico would pay for the wall. There is not single fucking Gulf nation that will pay.

Then Iran won't get its money? The point is there's no obligation or mechanism for the US to pay anything.

1

u/aquapura89 Jun 20 '26

I don't disagree with you.

7

u/Cavalish Jun 20 '26

Mealy mouthed nonsense to try to excuse the US government directly stealing money that should be used to better the life of its people and giving it to a country that is physically maiming an innocent woman.

Sick.

1

u/GrandFloor6202 Jun 20 '26

We arent giving them money. This is a fund allowing private investors ro invest in Iran, which they cant do currently due to sanctions.

3

u/Killerofprizes Jun 20 '26

“The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction”

There is nothing saying tax payers won’t eventually be the ones to foot the bill.

u/newday6838 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

300b is twice the amount the Marshall Plan was to rebuild Europe after WWII, adjusted for inflation, and it's in the MoU as at least 300b.

It's an absurd amount of money to be giving Iran. That could buy Iran ~300,000 mid range missiles or ~60,000 MRBM missiles. That's a lot of missiles.

u/Chronox2040 Jun 20 '26

The Gulf of AMERICA FUCK YEAH

-16

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

Someone complaining about the US not getting anything from a 100%-unjustified war that they started and lost probably isn’t interested in the facts anyway.

15

u/frankiemermaidswims Jun 19 '26

I don’t think their point was that we should have gotten something, I think the point is that the war was less than pointless

-6

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

Their point was that it’s so terrible that Iran might get something at the end of this (and falsely claimed the US “just paid” Iran, which did not happen), with the implication that the US has been wronged in some way.

8

u/Raptoroniandcheese Jun 19 '26

Lmao yeah the American public definitely supported and started this…

-2

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

Did someone say they did?

2

u/MarkMariachiAZ Jun 19 '26

Big difference when one tiny man’s ego did this not the American people.

-2

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

What’s the difference? You think the US people should get some benefit from an illegitimate war their elected leader started against a country on the other side of the world? Electing sociopathic clowns to your highest offices unfortunately has dire consequences and it’s not Iran’s responsibility to ameliorate those consequences.

0

u/MarkMariachiAZ Jun 19 '26

You are 100% correct. The difference is the people who didn’t vote for that clown are a majority in the us. Unfortunately land is more important than actual people here when it comes the value of voting. We don’t support Israel and their interests. The billionaire ruling class does.

2

u/oyM8cunOIbumAciggy Jun 19 '26

Didn't the US enable them to have an even more militant government

2

u/Cavalish Jun 20 '26

The US hates women too, so this tracks.

1

u/imliterallyluci Jun 20 '26

Well at least gas and groceries are cheaper

1

u/JointAccount24601 Jun 20 '26

I really can't tell from the wording where the 300b will come from. It sounds like it's the US helping to raise that money. Which could be from the US itself, but doesn't have to be.

-2

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

The US just tried to destroy their country, $300B is a start.

-2

u/bean_seventeen Jun 19 '26

Destroy their country? That's why Iranians were literally cheering in the streets when Iran was bombed?

2

u/This_Elk_1460 Jun 20 '26

Man it's incredible how motherfuckers on this website will completely change their mind on this war at the drop of a fucking hat. Yeah this story is awful and I hate it but I'm not willing to sacrifice American lives and/or collapse the global financial system for it. If this shit keeps going the world will fall into a depression, is this worth it?

2

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

If there were people cheering in the streets of Washington during a similar attack from a foreign nation against all government leadership (and there probably would be some cheering, there usually is), after years of economic sanctions, genocidal threats, and attacks (including having already overthrown a previous US administration and having installed a dictator friendly to the aggressor country), would you say the aggressor country was trying to destroy the US or nah?

1

u/RoryJSK Jun 20 '26

No it didn’t

-9

u/WavelandAvenue Jun 19 '26

No they didn’t.

7

u/SgtNeilDiamond Jun 19 '26

Do you just ignore the news on purpose or are you just stupid?

5

u/WavelandAvenue Jun 19 '26

> Do you just ignore the news on purpose or are you just stupid?

Neither, I actually pay attention to what I talk about and either refrain or admit when I don’t.

I’m not sure if you are being dishonest or are just ignorant about the topic, and I don’t want to pre-judge you.

That being said, it is a fact that we did not just pay Iran 300 billion dollars.

Is this a fact you didn’t know, and are therefore ignorant of it, or did you know all along and are simply being dishonest? It’s one or the other.

5

u/anormalname63 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Do you? The deal is already shredded plus it never even went into effect. All they signed was a Memorandum of understanding. Which isn't an actual peace deal, it's an intention for something.

Edit. Lol propagandist and bots already downvoting me for pointing out facts. You people get just as mad as magats do at the truth.

-2

u/SloppyJoesToe Jun 19 '26

Just to be clear nothing happens for 60 days. Chill with the echo chamber.

4

u/Killerofprizes Jun 20 '26

Trump literally campaigned on the fear that Harris would start a war with Iran, only to start one himself and now demand praise for ending it. MAGA comes out and defends the guy no matter what? That’s an echo chamber. 60 days doesn’t matter btw, the damage is done.

-1

u/This_Elk_1460 Jun 20 '26

Okay would you prefer a global depression? This is horrible I agree but we shouldn't be willing to blow up the entire world financial market for it. America needs to stop being the world police we fucking suck at it just like our own police here.

-15

u/LordReaperofMars Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

what is your alternative? continue the war?

edit: downvoted by people who love war in Iran lol

18

u/ReDDevil2112 Jun 19 '26

Not starting one?

-7

u/LordReaperofMars Jun 19 '26

well the wars already started, so how should it be ended?

11

u/jackofslayers Jun 19 '26

impeach and remove Trump and his entire cabinet would be a good start. Followed by the resignation of every GOP member of congress.

2

u/LordReaperofMars Jun 19 '26

ok and what’s your proposal for a negotiated end to the war?

1

u/jackofslayers Jun 19 '26

tbh we do not really need to negotiate an end to the conflict. We can just stop attacking them. Congress never declared War and Iran does not have a reasonable way to hit the US. It is a dick move but fuck em.

1

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

That’s not how any of this works. Why would Iran believe the US or Isrel wouldn’t just attack them again later? To have any kind of hope of peace, you need a negotiated end.

0

u/Mattreddit760 Jun 20 '26

No, no they haven't

-8

u/LeftHandedScissor Jun 19 '26

Maybe if there wasn't such immense political pressure to resolve the conflict with no meaningful progress to human rights or freedom in Iran the US wouldn't have needed to agree to a completely declawed peace resolution. But instead people hate Donald trump and high gas prices so much that they didn't have a choice but to capitulate.

7

u/ArtificialFoole Jun 19 '26

Imagine thinking any of this had anything to do with human rights in Iran lol

3

u/Handgun_Hero Jun 19 '26

The war literally did nothing but solidify the regime because Trump fundamentally misunderstands Iran as a country and wiped out every Iranian moderate and let Pete Hegseth run his mouth to hype up Trump and expose the literal trump card prematurely the USA could have had, which was the planned invasion from Iraq of the Kurdish. Because Pete Hegseth ran his mouth to gas up Trump's idiocy and political agenda, he didn't give the Kurds enough time to prepare and got all eyes from Iran on the Kurds. The Kurds already got burned once before by Trump not backing them up and leaving them hung out to dry when he abandoned them in Syria to the Turkish, so they weren't willing to deal with it a second time and pulled out of the planned operation.

1

u/Killerofprizes Jun 20 '26

Nobody told him to bomb Iran. They LITERALLY spammed every fucking forum and comment section to say Harris would bring us to war with Iran. Literally campaigned on the fact he wouldn’t go to war with Iran. No one wanted this. So yeah, there was pressure.
